My take on "broke" in this sense is that now that he has money after the previous song, it still didn't solve the problems in his life. He's not broke in money, but in happiness. Just my thoughts on it really.

I like that this video is the opposite of Broke where in the video he looked broke and somewhat happy and having fun but in this video he looks wealthy and just unhappy.

I just LOVE this. In Broke he blamed his failed relationship on his lack of money and in this one it's like he's finally growing to realize that that wasn't the issue at all. I hope the next one is about finally figuring shit out and getting a happy ending.

Even he broke he recognized that wasn't the cause. The question if I was broke was key to the meaning of the song. The problem is that he gave the benefit of the doubt, anyway, which confirms the message once she leaves again: "The same value she has for you when you're broke is the same value she always has for you."
So funny how I found his song broke when I had no money and was tryna find a job late as hell after the release and now finding still broke after finding a job that is making me so depressed 😅

Same Henshaw delivers again! The music he makes is always top notch. My only complaint is my ears can't make out the words as good on other songs. My ears are picking up the volume of the music more than the vocals. But still it's a bop.
