I loved spotting all the little nods to New Orleans in this video, the second-line style dancing, Mardi Gras Indians, the little kids drumming on fleur de lis buckets, Spanish moss, brightly painted houses, the St. Aug Marching Knights, and more. This video makes my heart both full and incredibly homesick. You nailed it again, Jon! Fantastic job by a true artist.

What a fantastic ambassador for the city of New Orleans. The shot at the 48 second mark, of Jon leaning on a car underneath the interstate, with the painting of Alan Toussaint behind him, is a place I drive by every day on my way to work. The marching band featured in the video is, I believe, the St. Augustine High School marching band. And the young lady standing in front of the oak trees is someone I follow on Facebook, who's carrying on the Mardi Gras Indian tradition. And I just learned that apparently Mr. Batiste is an alum of both NOCCA and St. Augustine. This video makes me happy. Thank you, Mr. Batiste.

▶️🅰️
Yes, he is uplifting!

Literally never heard of this man until the Grammy's. But he's incredible and deserves all the awards.
What a fantasy, meanwhile in the real world every man, woman and child is too busy being glued to their devices to notice such a dapper young gentlemen grooving down the street.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate all the love. It’s nice meeting you here, I hope you are doing well?
got to be honest, didn't know who he was until he won album of the year at the Grammy's. I'm now OBSESSED. Totally deserved it!!!!!!!
So am I, haven't stopped watching -- and now will have to stay up late and watch Colbert.
See and hear him nightly on the Late Show!
Same here!
never heard of him until the Grammy! my husband knew about him from the late night show!!! I just love his stuff!!!
Always felt like this was overlooked, until he received his Grammy nominations. Glad he actually won Album Of The Year, well deserved Jon Batiste!
He’s got eleven Grammy nominations!
One of them is for this song!
Congratulations,Jon!
You deserve EVERY last one!
“I’m stuck to the dance floor with the whole tape” Love, love, love the vibe!
Thank you so much I really appreciate all the love, it means a lot to me. It’s nice meeting you here, I hope you are doing great?
He’s won five Grammys!
Definitely deserved all eleven of them,
but I’m glad he’s got five including
“Album Of The Year”!.
How did he win.. most everyone I've asked doesn't know him. Just look at the comments: "Here because of the Grammy's"
@@RobertXPhotography , I suppose, because Grammys are decided my music professionals. And every musician in the US knows and loves him.
@@solderbuff Remember that one time an album of Flute Rock music won.. beating that year’s favorite to win, Metallica? So yeah.. it’s stupid
@@RobertXPhotography , yeah good story. "Alice Cooper: I think what happened was that the old guys in the Grammy organisation who were voting didn’t really recognise any of the names except Jethro Tull. I don’t think they’d ever heard of Metallica, who were a pretty new band." - it confirms my point, that these are voted by industry professionals. And they all love Jon Batiste. The man is a prodigy.
@@RobertXPhotography , btw, may I ask, what would you choose as "Album of the Year"?
Yes, this is great, but what I love about it is that you can really see Jon's individuality, character, charm, positivity and personality comes through in this. He is a bright light in this world and I love to see him let it shine!
I'm a white man but this transcends race and identity and actually makes me want to get up and dance.(although I would probably pass out)
Also, KUDOS for the five Grammys Jon. You are a true inspiration....
This man has so much infectious energy and positive vibes, a blessed individual indeed
No offense, but why the hell isn't this a top 10 hit? For that matter, why isn't it getting heavy rotation airplay? SO GOOD!!!
I agree…it’s so damn creative and beautiful. Maybe the beauty is the issue, sad to say.
That's exactly what I was wondering
It literally just got released, give it a minute..!
Glad you recognize it’s a hit, now more people need to know about it.
Why don’t pay to download it, then you can listen to it whenever you like.
Because it’s terrible….
My heart smiles just watching and listening to this. He’s bring that old feeling back that we are missing in music today. I still listen to the music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s! This is excellent!!
I feel the same
I concur
..this jam is filled to the brim with that NOLA gumbo!..definitely feeling those vintage flavours here, Meters, Allen Tousaint, Neville Brothers and more..Jon Batiste delivering heavy here..stay safe and stay strong..New York June 25, 2021..

Jon is 'Joy' personified. Watching him perform makes me feel so happy.
He inspires an unbearable lightness of being!
@@lorraine9242 Ouu, very well said!
Jon Batiste is a very special person God Bless him and his family
Thank you so much Charlene, I really appreciate all the love. It’s nice meeting you here, I hope you are doing great?
Congrats to Jon for the prominent use of this song at the 2024 DNC Convention!! ❤❤
Now I can't get this song out of my head (which isn't a bad thing)
The party of killing babies and no polices nor interviews, didn’t even vote in party candidate 😂😂😂
If they could bottle pure joy, it would look like Jon Batiste's smile.
Yes. Thank you Jon for your joy - which you transmit directly with your music, creativity, and yes, your smile! So grateful
I saw it this morning! I can't find it to watch again. Let me tell ya, it's fantastic! The song and the dancing and the backdrop of New Orleans done so well that it's mesmerizing! So filled with joy and it's sort of LIKE the "Happy" video by Pharrell, but it's BETTER! Absolutely proud of this young man, Jon Batiste, from my home state of Louisiana.

I love this Brother...thank you Mr.Jon for sharing your gift with us
This dude has so much style
Who's here still listen this a masterpiece
The two genres of music NOLA is known for: jazz and blues. Mr. Batiste delivered with a classic 12-bar blues groove, staying true to his NOLA roots. 🙌🏽
I could watch this, literally, all day! Those ladies dancing are on FIRE! Such a great song!
John Batiste is an incredible musician, composer and one of the most talented entertainers in the world.
Now that's soul, black soul, that's the way they dance in Louisiana. My kind of music that makes even the cripple want to get up and shack that back side. I enjoy all of your music videos, especially this one. Thanks, Mr. Batiste, for bringing joy, laughter and body-movement into our lives. WELL, DONE Mr. Soul Man. 01-30-24.
Jon Batiste is such an awesome and unique artist. I feel blessed listening to his music

FREEDOM I AM A FREE CREATURE BY GOD AND NO MAN OR GOVERNMENT CAN HOLD ME BACK!
That’s true and you need to stand strong on that. Thanks for all the love and support I really appreciate. It’s nice meeting you here, I hope you are doing great?
Jon's such a light.
It goes without saying, Jon epitomises freedom and joy and those women dancing with him are extraordinary.
Nice shout out to the dancers. Especially the dancer in the sun glasses, print dress with white trim. Damn.
I love his spirit and kindness. Sending prayers to his wife for speedy recovery. God Bless you both.
This song introduced Oprah Winfrey when she spoke at the Democratic Convention!
Wonderful!! It is all about FREEDOM!!
So the party that fought for keeping slavery used this song?
@@hakontvedt1405 I lot can happen to a party in 160 years. The party that helped free slavery is now the party of fascism.
And then she ruined that poor girl's life by calling her a childless cat-lady 😅
Cool video, great song topic
So happy that he is making success outside of late show. Not everyone who come from late night back up bands can transition to solo artists. And he is keeping his music so cultural.
He was a well known jazz artist before late show.
@@StarinthewingsNews Commercially I really did not know him until his late night national broadcast gig. Good that the got the extra boost and did not allow the authentic artist in him get snuffed out.
I think he’s paying homage to the musical greats with his outfits and musical style. Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, Temptations to name a few… love it!!!
Yes that was first thing that came to my mind too. Great song.
Agreed, and Marvin Gaye. It's also somehow very original too. I'm listening for the 6th time now
Yes!
And Gladys Knight and her Pimps too? Right? LOL

Dear Jon, you're really somethin, hope America's proud of you, looove what you wear, your style, your music, your creativity. Loooove from Germany/France! VOTE BLUE PEOPLE!!!!!
How is a work of art like this, titled FREEDOM, not trending higher the night before our newest national holiday that is literally about freedom? Happy Juneteenth Eve.
Agreed. I'm baffled.
Well stated my man !!!
Greatest Nation in the world, The Republic of America... Blessed to be born in it, Reach for a star you just may grab one.
Plenty much better than chill songs with only 4 chords and cheap concept. .
Because most people still don't understand it, I have to explain it a lot lately, because the talking heads that oppose it are falsifying it's purpose and saying that it's for people who hate America
Freedom babe! This entire CD is awesome. I ordered it last month. My room mate's dog destroyed it, but I've reordered. This CD will bring you so much joy! It is a must in anyone's collection. Jon has incredible talent in many genres. The CD has soul, R&B, hip hop, old school jazz.....
God bless and you protect you Jon. If they ever reopen the border in Canada, please do a concert for us in SW Ontario. Love ya!
Yes come to SW Ontario!!

You can already watch the whole thing on Jon Batiste’s Facebook page! Love it!
And it is AMAZING!
Oh that's why your comment says 2 days ago
Ohhhh Yeahhhhh! Freedom feels so fine!
Singing along with this after Kamala's acceptance speech ♥️
Yes. More of Jon Batiste is urgently needed.
I vote Jon gets the “Most Beautiful Soul on Earth” award! 🥰 He is “good” personified❤️
Amen!
I just adore his spirit, heart, and soul. He puts so much of himself in his music, and I feel it! You can just tell he truly gets and gives so much joy!
I love it! Listen to it all the time. Mmm
Hey baby please bring some of this to Harris Walz inauguration in January. Thx man love ya♡♡♡♡
I only know about this guy because of Stephen Colbert, but I might become a fan, this song is awesome! He deserved that Grammy win!
As a fan of Billie, Ari, and all other nominees, I am proud of Jon Batiste's achievement today!!!
Wow album of the year! Honestly never paid attention to him but this song is great, can’t wait to dive into this album.
So awesome. Respect to the African-Americans of NOLA and to the artist.
Fantastic Jon Batiste. Love it all.....Jon's voice, his song, his great pink suit and his fantastic dancing. Got the whole neighborhood on it's feet and shakin' in time. Men wearing color is great. Freedom is the word Jon sings. Great touch with the Hammond B3 sending out the gospel groove. New Orleans looks fantastic and Louis Armstrong is smiling from above. God bless Jon Batiste. I hope he has much more to come for all America. We all need it.
While others are moving toward a rap genre, New Orleans moves to its own beat. America is a little happier place because of the music culture in the bayou.
I can’t move my body like that anymore, but I still feel like freedom. Rock on, brother.
Have to have Freedom to choose also and I choose this music! 'This song! This affirmation! This education! Got everybody moving! Thank you Jon Baptiste!
