What an awesome “feel good” story! I’m so happy for these two men and the others blessed to live in affordable and safe homes. Plus getting services to gain independence. They’re learning to fish not continuing to be given fish! Kudos👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

This is incredible however more needs to be done. This should be in all areas of New York City. Not just certain neighbourhoods.

A lot of criminals have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. This is a slippery slope.

If they aer developemental & intellecutal disabled, how do they live by themseleves. What's the guarantee that they wont be taken advantage of? Just b/c they are disabled does not mean they are stupid. They can very get away w/ subletting the apartments or moving in their family. If anyone stands up to that they get labeled as a bully. PItty is a currency.

They are taught basic living skills first, there are case managers and direct care workers in the building. They still receive assistance with financial planning and goals to achieve as well as anything else that comes up. Everyone can be taken advantage of so they are no different.

Not everybody feels that they have a developmental disability I myself have one according to the state of New York I receive services. I am more then capable of living on my own, everything is super expensive for no reason. It’s all about your prospective of the world.

i mean everyone deserves a place to live but this is ZOOYORK... they say affordable... for who? the tenets? defiantly not their fam. i think this is just another place to put people so other people won't have to look at or even talk to the developmentally disabled.... its the new nazi state under the guise of mental well fair and propped up by the illusion that covid isn't a thing amongst a dense population of people with developmental disabilities... just ask anyone that works at a nursing home. they will tell you what its like when you all of a sudden have 3-10 people with the kung flu and the staff is calling in all the time "cause covid"...
