    easy way to install engine. take a wooden batton and put it across the frame above the motor bay . the take a rope or even better a ratchet strap and loop it round the batton and with the motor under the motor bay ,loop it round the exhaust port and over the batton and then round the inlet port. now complete the rope loop or strap and just pull the engine up.

      Hi Vossi.
      I agree, Pneumatic valves are better than the original cable operated models. But I’ll probably keep mine original until it breaks or needs changing.
      Thanks for your comment.👍👍

    Such a clean job, you make it seem almost too easy!
    Do you plan to show how to connect the oil pump, carb and how to tune the carb propperly ?
    I am having some trouble with the 34mm DellOrto that came with my 2007 RS125.
    And I am too scared to disassemble it myself.
    ..first bike and first time doing any maintenece job on a vehicle by myself lol

      In part 3 of the top end rebuild series I do show you how I refill the oil lines. I’m editing the video as we speak. Hope to publish it on the weekend - all being well.
      I have not made a carb tune video yet but it is certainly on my list of things to do. My carb is only 28mm so the information will be slightly different, but the same in principle.
      Good to hear you have bought an Aprilia. They are fun bikes!!

      I am actually amazed that YOU bought an Aprilia waaaay down there in Australia ?!
      Never even knew they even tried to seriously market them and sell outside Europe (Italy and the UK beeing prime target markets for beginner motorcycles).
      I doubt it's a common bike over there.
      Do you get aksed about it a lot ?
      In my case, every time I roll up with it somewhere, I get comments like "oh yes as a kid I had the old round one" and "the old one looked better and went faster" all the damn time hahahah 😂

    Hey Tom! Loving your videos and the effort you put into both the videos and your works! Everything looks spotless!
    Do you mind sharing where you got hold of the engine spec manual and all the other information? The coolant on my RS seems to constantly be building up pressure even after a flush and refill, this happens over the course of a week or so of riding. The mechanic I tend to send my bike for servicing to mentioned I might have a head gasket leak, though he's reluctant to do the replacement even though I offered to get the spares, so I'm thinking I may have to get to doing it myself.
    I also thought I should just go ahead with a top end rebuild while I'm at it since it's kinda due for one. But the piston sizes are leaving me confused. With no room for error on this, how does one confirm that the replacement piston size will work? Is the only way to open it up and do a measurement then order the parts after confirming the size?
    Hope to hear from you! You're one of the few valuable resources left for this soon to be extinct bike breed.

    Hello, I have a cylinder with the same letter code "B" as it corresponds to the change of piston wossner, would it be size 53.99 or 53.98? Thank you

    • @tomdidit4216
      @tomdidit4216  3 года назад +1

      Hi there Juan. The letter B represents the size of the cylinder when the bike was new. Your cylinder may have worn to a sightly larger size, and a slightly different piston size may now suit your cylinder? My best advice is to get an engineer to measure it and choose the correct piston to suit.
      For piece of mind, I’ll take a look at the size of my Wossner piston and let you know asap.
      Hope this helps. And thanks for your comment.

    Any opinions on piston run in / break in

    • @tomdidit4216
      @tomdidit4216  2 года назад +1

      Hello there. Thanks for your comment.
      I’ve come to realise there are lots of different approaches when breaking in an engine.
      In my opinion, a brand new engine should be kept around half throttle for the first few hours/heat cycles. Then new oil and it’s good to go.
      For top end only, I do one heat cycle, then an average ride and that’s it.
      Thanks again
      Tom

    Whats your Option on woessner Pistons?

    • @tomdidit4216
      @tomdidit4216  2 года назад

      Hi Ole. Thank you for your message.
      As you may know I recently installed a new Wossner in my bike. It’s my opinion that they are a premium piston and one of the best on the market. You notice the build quality straight away.
      I note however, at the time of publishing this video I have been told by other informed subscribers that the ProX piston gives a higher compression reading than the Wossner? I’m not sure if this claim is accurate?
      Long story short, you can’t go wrong with either a ProX or Wossner (in my opinion)
      Cheers mate.
