Currently working as an IT Analyst but taking my CCNA next month to try and make the transition from “Jack of all trades” to networking. My only concern is I don’t have the financial flexibility to step down from my current salary ($75K) to an “entry level” networking position, which is looking like around $60K or so in my area. I’m hoping my general IT experience will get me in the door at a decent level, but any additional tips would be appreciated. Good video 👍
That’s an interesting position to be in but see it as a plus ad it gives you the luxury of waiting for the right job offer. It gives you time and some leverage during interviews since you don’t need the job. Just keep working on acquiring skills and you’ll very valuable Micheal.
@@NetworkWali Yeah that’s the plan. Just going to keep looking for lab projects to do in the meantime to refine my skills and get as close to real-world experience as possible.
If you are choosing to go to school. Is this ceritifacation process something you do after school or during?
@@Catch_XXII During for sure that is what I did. It sets you up in good shape after graduating but also make sure you do internships
Thanks for the video, you do boost my confident. I am planning to take my exam soon, Is there anyway i can connect with you.
No worries man! Keep it up it's all a process. There is a link in my description if you want to contact me.
How's it going man! Really appreciate the insights. I'm currently in a Help Desk role. I just took an offer with a Hospital as a VoIP Support Analyst, starting next week!. I'm pretty sure it'll help me grow since it deals with IP. I don't have any certs, I'm currently studying for the Comptia A+ but I believe that is a waste, should I just cut straight into CCNA or start with Network+, or security+?
I’m doing well man! Congratulations on your new job. You are going to learn so much and it’s going to be a big step up in your career. I would say study the CCNA if you want to be a network engineer, but that’s going to take a lot more time. However if you want to go into the track of security , I would definitely get the security plus but the choice is really yours. I wish you all luck on your new job and if you need any help, let me know!
The second link is for what
I don’t know which of the courses you’re referring to on the page
Is it just the exam I don’t understand where to go to on the oage
It’s the Boson ex-sim max exam it’s $99 but it really helps when trying to pass the CCNA.
i am new ats system? i dont know what that is working on net +
The ATS system is some sort of like AI script that auto rejects resumes when it doesn’t have certain keywords. Also, good luck on studying for that certification!
Getting started in networking is by far the most straightforward path of everything in IT. Get your CCNA. Get a NOC role.
I was interested in going for a network admin role post ccna, are my hopes less likely than a noc role? I figured network engineer is out of the question to start so I was leaning system admin or network admin.
@@MeZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZ even with a CCNA it is rare to go directly into a network engineer role. The NOC is basically the helpdesk of the network. Generally they are broken down into say a NOC 1-3 roles. So once you have 6-12mo as say a NOC 3 it is an easy jump to an engineer role.
The CCNA is really good for getting your foot into the door for the basic level network engineering rules or NOC. Then after you gain some experience from your NOC role, you can transition into a nonworking engineer.
What key words should I put on my resume?
Add some of the main protocols like ARP, OSPF,IS-IS, BGP, Also name the some of the devices you've worked with like Cisco, Juniper Etc. I'll make a video about this topic.
Thank you so much for this information Sir. I want to become a network engineer and I think this will help me alot.
Means so much!!
