Iga is undoubtedly impressive. When she defeated Carolina Wozniacki in the 2019 Roger Cup, being a teen, I knew she was something else but talented and was here to stay! What's absolutely impossible (?) to believe is, it is now 2024 and Iga is reaching heights that further show us what a wonderful player she is. I like Iga. She seems like a very nice girl. And she is very, very, good. But I always see her having issues with the really big hitters in the game like Sabalenka, Osaka, Rybakina and even Ostapenko if she can ever get her weight under control
Always? Not really. H2H vs Sabalenka is 5:2 for Iga (last time Saba lost in Stuttgart, just a few days ago). I don't think this match-up is bad for Iga. Vs. Osaka - they played twice against each other. First time Iga lost but she was just 18, and still that match was tighter than score suggests. Second time was last year in Miami final - Iga bageled Osaka in a style. Vs. Rybakina H2H is 1:2 - Iga was injured last time, so this match-up is yet to be seen. Vs. Ostapenko - Jelena is very unpredictable. When she's on, she can destroy anyone, because she always goes for the lines. But no one is able to hit the lines all the time. That's why her results are underwhelming. Her match vs. Jabeur in Stuttgart is Ostapenko's career in a nutshell ; in first set, she destroyed Ons like true number 1, but another two sets she lost decisively, because of her brainless attitude and lack of plan B. Anyway last match Iga vs. Jelena was very tight, Iga lost in 3rd set TB. As for the other big hitters, Iga beat most of them e.g. Garcia, Q. Zheng, Keys, Samsonova, Alexandrova, Kvitova, Pliskova, Giorgi.
