- Assassin’s Creed Unity vs Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Which is the better game? In this video, I'm going to look at both of these games and go over which game has the best open world, protagonist, story, gameplay, customization, and also side content. And then towards the end of the video, I'll go over my personal winner of which game I think comes out on top.

Assassin's Creed is an open-world, action-adventure, and stealth game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures. In most games, players control a historical Assassin while also playing as an Assassin Initiate or someone caught in the Assassin-Templar conflict in the present-day framing story. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed took inspiration from the novel Alamut by the Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

We should start a petition to ask Ubisoft to make an expansion for Unity about Arno hunting down Shay
We should. Call it Assassin's Creed V. Arno, Connor and his children, Shay, Aveline.
@@1lham_editsassassins Creed vengeance
@@billjaywarr6509 Assassin's Creed Vengeance - cleverly titled like Resident Evil Village (sort of). I like that.
@@1lham_edits I’ve seen a video about how it would’ve happened and that’s what it was called 👍
And that would be the perfect way to give an ending to the story of Shay as well
I love both settings, they're right up my alley. The architecture is beautiful and I love that era, especially them being the most 'modern' settings out of the AC games
I would love to see a video ranking the historical figures of each AC game (like Napoleon in Unity and Leonardo in AC 2)
I'd love to make that! That's already in my 100+ video ideas list. I'll get around to that
@@TheHiddenOne690Perfect! Good luck with everything! :D
Despite which game people think is better, this video is a great representation of ultimately how good both of these games truly are.
The part about Elise not loving Arno enough, or using him, is a false statement. "Unity" book depicts her affection to Arno way better than the game, She loved him, she forgave him for the incident with her father, but she was conflicted about their relationship since she was raised as a templar and taught that assassins are their enemies.
In my opinion, Syndicate's side content and world exploration are better because I feel the game encourge you to explore London through "conquer areas". I also think that Paris Stories and the Helix Rifts aren't that interesting compare to Syndicate's side quests. And there are also a lot of unmapped collectibles in Unity.
I strongly disagree that Unity's story is bad, I think it is a good story: Arno is framed for murder, Arno is joining the brotherhood, Bellec's betreyal, Arno is banished from the brotherhood, and there are also a lot of historical events like the storming of the Bastille, execution of Louis XVI, reign of terror and more. Syndicate's story was standard: hunting templars and an artifact without major plot twists, emotional death scenes or historical events.
I really despise the Helix missions. Especially since that's how you would obtain Altair's outfit. Getting his armor in Assassin's Creed 2 is more simple than getting his outfit in Assassin's Creed Unity and that's saying something because I really despise the final tomb.
Unity looks better but I found Syndicate more fun gameplay wise.
Syndicate is basically the upgrade version of Unity, but in Unity there’s a simple still foundamental detail: heart❤
-except not look at microtransactions(I had to sorry)
syndicate is literally a downgrade of unity, only the combat is better and some systems
@@lukz7600syndicate combat is not better then unity
@@lukz7600it is in some sense but that's meand it's literally a playable and stable upgrade of unity
@@jaylenmitchell683 lol syndicate combat is so much better than unity which is clunky as hell
Personally, I think Syndicate is miles above Unity. I feel like everything's underrated. I love the cane-sword and the combat isn't immersive or realistic but its engaging and fun for me. I love the fight clubs, hijacks, templar hunts, the train heists and more. This game by far has the best side content in the franchise and I feel the levelling system is genuinely perfect, as everything has an immediate effect, from you're rooks now having more carriages, to more effective eagle vision. Most upgrades were though out well. The rooks are also underrated, as its amazing to recruit 5 rooks, walk up to random blighters on the streets and demolishing them. The train hideout is cool and even really useful as I would see a mission in some random place and dread to spend 10 minutes ziplining there, when the train suddenly appears on the map right over the objective. I love the characters, I don't find Jacob's humour dry or weird, I just find his presence fun, maybe because I'm English. I liked the story. I'm usually there just for gameplay but I found it interesting how Jacob will manage to almost collapse an empire multiple times on end, while also joking with his sister. I feel like Unity has now become way overrated. Arno is boring and annoying, Paris is repetitive, the black box missions are nowhere near as developed and I would actually prefer Syndicate combat.
EDIT
playing it more, I've remembered one aspect that can die in hell. The carriage racing. The definition of unfair. Those NPC bastards will get a speed boost if you do well, and they'll get in your way and ram you into walls. The only bad one is the lap race, which is weird when I don't have a problem with A to B races. Syndicate is also just not buggy. The worst bug I probably experienced in the game is when I didn't drop into a haybale from a zipline but instead dropped to a higher ledge which makes more sense to land on. Whereas Unity will not pass this one cutscene without crashing. Basically, at least syndicate is playable. Unity is innovative but hasn't developed it's innovations. The parkour is hands down the best looking system but one of the worst controlling. Unity has more customisation but most pairings are either locked behind a co-op mission or look horrendous. Its story is somewhat different but its not good. Its stealth is so much worse than syndicate, simply because it doesn't have carry body or whistle. The Unity protagonist is annoying and a simp. Its side missions don't spice up the gameplay. You can't distinguish it's main missions from each other. The modern day is the worst it's ever been. You can't start another save unless you go into the game files. It's worse
Unity is the definition of wasted potential
You didn't play Unity at all, right? 🗿
@@xLanzer I have I'm on my second playthrough and the game crashes after a cutscene without fail. It's unplayable right now. I'm on my third syndicate playthrough and for me its 100% better
@@ZachSucharov have you ever thought that it might be your PC/console? I have never seen anyone else experience that.
@@xLanzeryou’ve never seen anything like that? Unity was notoriously buggy. It’s not my PC because it runs any other game like a dream, even if they released this year
I didn’t like how it felt like there was a pay wall for Unity outfits
What do you mean by that? Don't you just have to find chests, complete certain missions, and download the free armament pack
Or are you talking about the armour like prowler and Phantom because In that case, just get the cafe theatre, do the dead Kings dlc and repeat the heist mission with the most money and you'll be rich trust me, there was no need to buy helix credits
Syndicate did one thing the best: Having fun.
You always had something to do in that world and it didn't bore you to death. The story was better than Unity's and there were major performance enhancements. Although the gameplay was a bit dumbed down.
I like the idea of comparing multiple AC games to determine which one we prefer. Next you could do something like AC2 vs ACB vs ACR or AC3 vs AC4
something i really appreciated in syndicate was the attention to detail, at 10:18 you can notice the birds flying in a v shape which is something they do in real life. The bird at the front faces the most wind resistance and the ones behind it face wind resistance the least. They also change places for the front.
You can see Jacob’s more extroverted manner as him finally cutting loose having been constrained by the Brotherhood, such as seen in the beginning with George Westhouse. The tie-in novel Underworld as well as conversations in the game show Ethan wasn’t the most present father to the twins (he needed to spend time around a young Henry to learn not to hold his wife’s death by childbirth against his children) or one Jacob was most fond of, Evie realising that bringing up their father when chastising Jacob was the wrong move.
Starrick’s complacency could well come from the fact he’s not used to Assassin conflict. Templars have held London for a hundred years with the Assassins failing to make any headway in changing this fact, and Starrick would have inherited the position from a predecessor. He’s ruled without challenge too long to have any contingencies, and the Frye twins undermine his power base (taking over the boroughs by overthrowing the Blighters as well as killing those in charge of social infrastructure and the investigation into the Shroud) in too short a time and too effective a manner for him to counter this. He could afford to be aloof before, and doesn’t know how to react when he faces Assassin adversity.
I really apreciate that this video contains no spoilers so i can watch the full video, thank you. And in my first impression i would say that unity is a little bit better.
A played AC Unity First but I enjoyed Syndicate more. On the Narrative Side Unity is awful. Syndicate while it's not terrible it's just mid and tone is so off. The Parkour while in unity is good Syndicate while slightly degraded feels more polished .The WW1 segment was really good and .and stealth is really fun in syndicate
I recently bought both of them on sale. I like Unity more because of multiplayer and combat. Syndicate lacks parkour but the grappling blade is good. I love both
I love your content
Another W vid from the goat. I swear we NEED to remake the ac franchise ac1 to revelations and black flag stays the same except for the modern day then everything after is diff and better. And the obvious better gameplay and visuals.
I absolutely prefer Unity. Easily my favorite Assassin's Creed game. Amazing parkour, a lively city with huge crowds and many enterable interiors and fun stealth. I tried playing Syndicate again and it just doesn't hook me like Unity does. I can just free roam in Unity and have a blast.
Sure

Great video!!! Assassins Creed Unity is my all time favorite game in the series. Everything from the world, story, and the main character who happens to be my favorite as well. Arno Dorian's story I've always found very enjoyable and Arno as a character is so charismatic and relatable. I fully understand the hate the whole game gets but I've never let it bother me. At the end of the day we can all agree we have our preferences.
Good video. For me I do prefer Syndicate. I love that time period, the side missions, and story as well. While Unity has the things you mentioned, I have more towards London. While its combat and villain are issues, I can still enjoy it.
Syndicate was good bt Unity just hit different. Arno feels like the fuckin grim reaper dealing death
I had a friend who loved Assassin Creed as much as I did and we would play the games together. Switching on missions in the game. With Syndicate. I would play all of Jacob’s missions and he would play Evie’s mission. I felt like Jacob was more of a up in your face gameplay with his style of fighting which I liked doing more. My friend though was very good at stealth and less fighting combat . That was fun for is. He got to play stealth missions while I did the more heavy combat missions.
Everything you said is just what I want to say incredible
@thehiddenone690
Hey, could you do an in-depthn analysis of every ancestor of Desmond miles? ( Confirm and theoretical) and other modern-day family members like subject 16 Clay Kaczmarek being his cousin (distant cousin), his Father, his son?
Like how bayek, and the one sage you mentioned in your sage video.
You would be thr first one that I knows of to do it
Im playing Unity atm got it on Steam sale. Trying to complete all side activity before touching main quest(completed chapter 4). Btw can somebody explain to me why all skill ranking lists claim that master locksmith is important? by the time I unlock lvl2 locksmith I basically wont have any chests to unlock beside those trapped behind main story quests. Legendary phantom belt rules. lol
I always had a soft spot for Syndicate, so much bloody fun.
Modern day definitely goes to Syndicate. Yes, it’s a series of cutscenes but there’s actual progression with familiar characters and it’s using Helix to find where the Shroud is in the present day. The Phoenix Project storyline gets developed and while it’s not completed in the games, that’s not a problem with Syndicate itself.
I swear, since Arno and and ezio are pretty much the same before they become assassins. I thought for a while that the gang fight at the beginning of II was from unity😂
Ac Unity is my favorite ac but I’m playing syndicate rn for the first time and it’s honestly starting out pretty well I don’t think anything can beat Unity for me though but we’ll see
AC3 vs AC4 could be next video in this series
One of my personal dislikes of unity is that its set in the french revolution but bot much revelation is involved in the game
For me fundamentals of Unity, and why its so good, is feel of combat and parkour, and this two things basicaly it is not in Syndicate, according to this video. And most of people in comments still prefers Syndicate... like wtf? I did not play Syndicate, only Unity and I prefer to stay that way.
I will forever love Unity. The story is miles ahead of Syndicate and I love the amount of post gamr content. For me, Unity is the game. I am in the dead kings dlc currently and it is my 4th time completing the game
very good video my choice is Unity because Unity is a very special game for me.
Can anyone help me with ac unity online? Im trying to get the platinum and im 3 trophies awayz just the 2 online trophies and the heists. Itll mean the world to me
You should do ac2 vs brotherhood
I like both games, but I do fully agree with you that Unity has best customization out of all the Assassin's Creed games
What about changing one backround colour? Will create most contrast on the thumbnail. Left: Red // Right: Blue
I agree. Just looking at it now, it's very blue on blue isn't it
@@TheHiddenOne690 it’s a nice thumbnail, but I think just that small change could make a great difference! Keep it up with the channel man, really good stuff!!!
I can confidently say that AC Syndicate was the better game overall in many regards. The game does not get enough love in my opinion. I live in the UK, near London, so I am a bit biased towards the Victorian London setting, the game makes you feel so British, and captures the feel of a a Victorian novel like 'Little Women'.
The game fixed a lot of the gameplay issues Unity possessed in such a short period of time, even if that meant scaling back a bit with the more ambitious elements, which was a necessary sacrifice to run on the now-last generation PS4 and Xbox One hardware at the time. The narrative was much better written than Unity (which had a messy trainwreck of a narrative) making it much more basic and straightforward with a easy-to-follow episodic structure, and I like the Frye Twins, who were decently voiced acted and had good chemistry with each other, with the sibling rivalry feeling authentic and believable, speaking as someone has has siblings.
AC unity's customization is overrated because the best armor usually looks terrible like the sans-culotte set which has the best stealth stats makes you look like a clown so most people use the best armor while wearing a outfit instead and the weapon customization is also overrated since AC 3 and AC 2 had the same amount of weapon types
Can you turn off those settings and options on syndicate I'm pretty sure you're able to. Which makes the game more interesting. Personally I don't care for realism I like fun combat that's all that matters to me. Can't really call the combat bad for that.
assassin's creed 2 vs assassin's creed brotherhood
Unity by a lot. Syndicate had many interesting concepts, but most were not well executed, and the game itself is inferior in basically every way with the possible exception of specifically nighttime atmosphere.
Syndicate parkour is a little bit better in my opinion, I honestly use parkour more than the grappling hook, the only downside is whoever thought making how many skill points you have determine which level you are and not your XP gain "NEEDS TO BE FIRED"
Inner john Cena made me spit my food 21:50
I’m doing unity’s platinum rn and have done Syndicate’s already so here’s what I think:
London is more beautiful. (Especially at night) meanwhile unity’s nightime is like the city got a plague.
Frye Twins better than Arno.
Unity’s combat, stealth, skills & gadgets are great.
Unity’s parkour is good but at the same time it’s clunky af and definitely not as good people make it. Sure there’s variety in Arno’s moves but in syndicate it’s more fluid.
Story both meh. (Unity kinda shit tbh).
Unity needs remaster and could prove itself but lets see what ubisoft gonna do.
Parkour is much better with Evie she is faster agile
I absolutely think unity is a million times better. I had high hopes for syndicate but only felt disappointed. The gameplay was repetitive, the city of London was repetitive (the same graphics used over and over) and it had zero atmosphere. It felt like a toy town rather than a real place. I liked Evie and Jacob but they weren't enough to rescue the game.
Cap
I think arno's character was redeemed a bit after dead kings. It felt like arno found his true character: A wise and understandable man. Elise really ruined him.
It's Syndicate for me. Even just the one year extra time to fix a lot of jank that plagued Unity is a bonus. And also what a letdown Unity not doing anything really with the setting is a big minus for that game for me.
You might want to add an extra category in these videos, and that could've been a tie breaker here. Post launch content, be it smaller or bigger, how much they add, do they worth playing, etc.
I am gonna go with Syndicate here
Unity has the better location because it is Paris over London. But Syndicate has the better assassin because it is Evie over Arno. But 2 very good Assassin's Creed games.
I really prefer Assassin's Creed Unity I always go back to playing the game Again and Again
I really don't finish Assassin's Creed Syndicate Because of the Story
Enjoyed both but gotta go with unity
Unpopular opinion I like syndicate
Gameplay systems/side missions/mission designs: Syndicate
Story/open-world/fatansy/immersion : Unity
Open-world and immersion go to syndicate just walk around London and watch the civilians actually behaving like real people. Parkour wise Paris is better but if that’s all it has then it’s not better over all and immersion is definitely not in unity’s favor unless the game runs perfectly for more than 30 seconds.
@@blacksheep6415Yeah I thought about that after posting the comment. I guess what I meant was 1. For parkour which you guessed correctly and 2. Atmosphere and tone. I guess that's what I really meant rather than open-world and immersion.
I played both Unity and Syndicate, I played syndicate a second time recently and let me tell you something Unity is still better. Now they’re both at the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to AC games but Unity had better graphics better parkour better world design better drip and lastly better Story. I think there’s a lot of bias in this comparison
You couldve looked at the dlcs too
Everyone says Unity Parkour is better, it is because it is not realistic. He is freaking jumping like Spiderman, falling from 4th floor and 0 damage. Ofcourse from Gameplay, It looks fun but it downgrades the realism. Syndicate's parkour is not 100% realistic but its close to realism. Also the population of Paris makes it uncomfortable to walk freely, not to mention Syndicate has carriages which we can ride. Makes little bit fun.
Combat of Unity is little bit Tactical unlike Syndicate. Gameplay wise both are fun, its just what is your perspective.
Both Unity and Syndicate are good. Syndicate is slightly better because it came after Unity
Arno has better character development because he goes from cocky to a assassin
Wait, what happened to the assassin's creed nexus video?

I prefer Syndicate's progression, level design and side activities far more than Unity. I like Unity's parkour more but Syndicate does everything else better imo(except maybe story), that's why my choice is Syndicate.
Syndicate is flawed, but irresistibly fun. I buy the goofy atmosphere, the insanely immersive London, the one-liners, the comic-like combat. This game knows what it wants to be and it does that job quite well in my opinion.
While Unity... Unity is one of the three AC games I could never finish because of how bored they made me. I had three attempts at different playthroughs I think, and I just never can get into it. The combat is sluggish and Arno is the blandest character on this side of the animus since Connor.
The most underrated both in terms of world design and stealth. Ac syndicate is a gem💎. Btw ty very much for giving some love to syndicate, more people should give it a chance.
I like the gameplay in Unity more, but the story in Syndicate is better
In my opinion both villains are bad but I will go with unity because I love every thing about it
I don't know but Unity for me seems more fun
Unity, I actually want a followup between Conner, Shay, and Arno. Syndicate I don’t really care at all about that era’s story.
Imo it has the most potential it’s set in a era closes to modern day there’s a lot that needs to be explained specifically how the Templars ended up going from having all of their empires destroyed and being on top again. They no longer find the assassins to be as much as a threat or a priority anymore instead looking through the past for pieces of Eden.
@@blacksheep6415The Templars bought into major businesses while the Assasin’s never truly evolved past just having a shadow network. Then Daniel Cross came along, murdered the mentor, and destroyed that shadow network by revealing all of those locations and agent names to the Abstergo. I would love to see all of that play out, Assassins Creed the Fall was actually a really good story, but I don’t care about the Frye twins at all.
What happened to Ac franchise when one of the Assassin's creed game does not exist ?
Both games are good in their own right but unity is a bit better I don't agree with syndicate have a better story, side content and character then unity to be honest both are close but unity is better
Unity ofc
revelations had the best parkour imo. Hookblade goated
He already said that in his parkour video
Syndicate took everything from Unity and improved. The combat, the skill upgrades etc. The story is just a bit lackluster.
I would still say story is better because it gave more effort to have characters have personalities. It's not good... But it's ok
Not combat nor Story
Nah unitys combat was better. And they downgraded the gadgets they don't have the phantom blades and you can only have one gadget equiped while in unity you could have two equiped.equipped. And unity has better parkour. Idk where you got " they took everything from unity and improved.

For me it's syndicate, Parkour is only good thing about unity. Unity is overrated
One is the peak of Assassin’s Creed apart from story, the other had the worst protagonists in the series so far, killed parkour and killed the og formula. I wonder which one is better? 😂😂😂
In my opinion:
Best parkour and side content - Syndicate.
Literally everything else - Unity

Pretty accurate honestly
Assassins creed 2 compared to 3
I don't know if it was mentioned anywhere, but the soundtrack in unity is beautiful. It is probably my favorite of the AC franchise. The mix of classical and synth is done so tastefully and deserves it's praise in my opinion. It really adds onto the already incredible atmosphere and really allows the player to immerse themselves in that historical world backed by a modern day twist (because of the animus and modern day storyline). The animus aspect of Assassin's Creed has always kept things interesting in my opinion.
UNITY
Syndicate, and its not even close
That's a very poor taste
