Build in containers - Here is the earthwork for our construction from containers.
There is no reliable construction without prior earthwork, discover the start of our container yard in this video.
There are several possibilities to install your containers:
- pouring a slab under the whole area of your containers,
- make an invert, it is a peripheral foundation to your containers...
As far as we are concerned, we have taken the option of placing the containers on blocks. It is simpler, faster and less expensive. We are fortunate to be on a relatively flat ground, barely 20 centimeters of difference in height over 15 meters, so it's much simpler.
The first step in the earthmoving process is to lay out the track on the ground so that the excavator can create a flat surface. It is from this surface that we will dig the holes where the future plots will be placed. It's fast, the excavator goes pretty fast. It's a job that was done during the day.
What is important is to respect the levels. Throughout the work of the excavator, the levels are checked to the centimeter with a laser level.
We were also lucky for our work : the weather was good, no rain as we are on a very clayey ground, the water has difficulty to evacuate, so that was a good thing.
Be very careful when you terrace the first layer of soil is generally good soil so take care to recover it especially if you have a garden. And get rid of the soil that is not very interesting, for example there is a lot of clay in our house. Asking the digger to separate the soil is not very complicated. The soil is generally in layers and the work of the digger as we see here is very precise ... to a few centimeters.
The first phase of earthwork has just been done, we lay the foundations to come, i.e. we locate on the ground where the holes to be dug will be. The further we go in this work of making the blocks, the more precise we will have to be. In the end, when your containers will arrive if your studs are not in the right place, the containers may not rest entirely on them, which could be problematic. We check the alignments well and we do it twice rather than once.
The good old string method still works very well for pulling lines. It's very practical and visual and it allows you to check continuously if you are well aligned. The laser does not do everything.
Once it's done, all you have to do is draw the marks on the ground and the excavator will come back to dig the holes.
Once the markings are made, the excavator can start working again. The goal is to dig until we find the right soil, that is to say, we can start to lay the foundations again. Good soil is hard soil that will not move and will allow the foundation to remain stable. Luckily we found the good soil quite quickly in our land and we didn't need to dig too deep holes.
So here we are for the next video where we will really see the pouring of the foundations and the realization of the studs and the metal plates necessary to the good installation of the containers.

@@dayvlone266 On a consulté fournisseurs de containers, au final c'est CAPSA (société lyonnaise qui a plusieurs agences régionales) qui était les moins chers. Il faut aussi tenir compte des coûts de transport dans le coût global)
