Enchanting, charming Riomaggiore is the grand climax to our survey of Cinque Terre. Here too you see that familiar pattern -- the houses tumbling down the cliffs to the water’s edge and a main pedestrian street rising up from the tiny cove, surrounded by terraced homes covering the hillside, rising high.
Regular ferry service connects each of the villages, and from Manarola it is just a 10-minute cruise to Riomaggiore, the last of the five. It’s a nice ride with splendid views of the coastal cliffs and hills above, and the blue sea all around.
It’s a surprising mix of urban high density in the midst of a tranquil, rural setting. It is very quiet when you walk down the little side streets, especially in the off-season, which is highly recommended.
Love Dennis Callan narrations.
I love Rio Maggiore. One of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever experienced was there. We sat and had wine as the waves crashed and the sun washed the entire bay with vibrant color. So amazing. Thanks for the tour. -Henry

You can definitely drive there lol. The town is connected to the sp 370 highway
We love Cinque Terre, and have stayed in Rio Maggiore. I wish this travel guide would learn to pronounce the name correctly.
So this man visited All of Cinque Terre in one day and like so many people is an expert ?? The fact he thinks there is nothing to see past the main square says it all 😠 He obviously doesn't know that beyond the main square Riomaggiore has a castle, 3 churches, a monastry, lots of lovely little bars and restaurants, great places to get amazing views, access to many of the amazing hiking trails, to name a few things and a great history as do all the villages in the Cinque Terre if you take an actual interest in places you visit rather than just wanting to tick a box and get the photo of you standing on the iconic harbour to post on social media !
Apenas uma favela chique na Itália.
Se non hai visto la parte alta del paese ti sei perso molto mi dispiace
Not that crowded 😂
You are wonderfully goofy.
would not like to live there..the crowds of tourists would really annoy me as you get no peace or privacy....
