We had the opportunity to consult with Txtur, a Roanoke VA based high end furniture maker for the plywood finish. We selected Osmo PolyX. It is Hardwax-Oil wood finish based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. It is extremely durable and hard wearing - will not crack, flake, or peel, is resistant to water, dirt, and common household spills, is microporous and molecularly bonds with the wood fibres, can be spot repaired and/or renewed with no sanding required, and conforms to strict German and European norms. It is suitable for floors, kitchens, bathrooms, and other rooms exposed to high humidity. It is safe for humans, animals, and plants and is also suitable for children’s toys.
This has to be some of the best engineering and well planned builds I have ever seen! I’m not a fan of the bare wood look everywhere, but that is probably my only complaint. Everything else is genius. I can definitely appreciate the ingenuity. The pieces that fit together, accessing the same kitchen from inside and outside, having a separate space to eat and cook, thinking of a place to put your pillows, and to hold down your bedding while you’re moving, all of the pull outs. Amazing! It has the features you would expect for an off-road travel trailer, but the additional amenities like a reading light that you would expect in a standard travel trailer
Even with us being snowbirds we never seem to escape NJ before a freeze and we come back too soon Plus on the commute we've been in sites where they have already turned off the water or HH sites where you need to bring your own.
The kitchen is like a Jenga Puzzle. It's great how you have access to everything inside and out. Food prep and storage is one of the most important parts of deciding on a camper.
This whole design is amazing. The entire kitchen drawer is so well done and accessible from inside too!! And a shower as well. I am absolutely in love with this camper. Thanks for sharing.
The camper is a true four season with all water tanks, waterlines and gate valves inside the thermal envelope. Also by using a 1.5” composite panel for the walls, roof and floor we have minimized thermal breaks. The windows are also dual paned with integrated blinds and screens.
WOW .Blown away.Cleaver wombats.Extraordinary masterful designs. So much .Everything in one little camper ,plus plus plus .You very cleaver campers ,you both.Simply (WOW) WOMBAT...... aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi
wow, this is incredible! I love how clever Brad & Julia are with such a small space! This is exactly what I want to bomb around in when my kids are all grown and it's just me and the pets.
The pull out cabinets are amazing. I can’t get over all the separate drawers, cooking utensils, options, etc. Love that it is accessible from the interior as well.
Thanks! It was important to us to design the camper so we could access our compartments from inside and out. It increases the ease of use so we can get back to travelling.
That kitchen is ingenious!!! And the adjustable space for shower is unlike anything I've seen in 20 years...well done done, Brad & Julie! Hope to see you and your Wombat sometime this year!!!
We have used quality parts such as Cruisemaster independent suspension, Redarc TVMS, a full composite exterior shell, and quality parts such as our heavy duty chassis designed to Australian Design Rules, which has some of the toughest roads in the world.
I have personally put my hands on this camper while seeing its transformation and I can tell you the craftsmanship and quality is top notch. Brad & Julie have done a wonderful job with this. They make these totally in house, just the two of them, from the ground up in Roanoke, VA. If you're looking for a high quality and comfortable adventire camper with tons of storage and ease of use then I suggest contacting them!!!
Really like the kitchen setup along with the accessibility inside. Overall great setup, keeping it on the list for the future. Like how they used the wood and didnt try and make it like a traditional RV with the old style fabrics and paint.
WOW! What an awesome trailer. Alot of smart thinking and engineering went into this one. I hope that they have lots of success. Heck, ill be looking into getting one myself 👍😎
Any design that shows magma nesting pots knows their details. 👌 I love the multi-layered capability of outside table extension - simple and strong design without extra moving (losing) parts!👌
The Wombat Camper J-Series is an Overland Travel Trailer designed for offgrid and offroad use. It is designed for the rough and tough use an overland camper is expected to handle and for the severe vibrations encountered while traveling on or off the highway.

Absolutely love this camper!!! However, the only thing I’m not crazy about is all the wood. It just makes it look like an unfinished project even though it’s finished. This camper would be absolutely amazing if the decor was different. If it looked more furnished as opposed to all the exposed wood.

Wow, super. Auf kleinsten Raum viel und effektiv untergebracht. Alles sehr gut durchdacht. Würde mich interessieren wie teuer das ist. Viele liebe Grüße. Und viel Spaß
Love the concept of the trailer. Looks awesome. Has everything a small camper needs. My biggest problem is the wood. Wood allows for mold and mildew. The wood framing for the kitchen will warp making the close tolerances ineffective. The table at the end of the kitchen is a great but the wooden tabs will brake real easy causing you to have no more table. Lets not for get about the weight, wood is so much heavier then aluminum. Love the inside lay out. But again to much wood. Great off road capability, plenty of room inside, not to tall but tall enough to stand. Over all love the design just wish there was no wood in the build.
Agreed. Even if treated with oil-based finishes, it's debatable how well it'll hold up after a few bouts of inclement weather, especially that nifty slide out kitchen. Not likely anyone wants to carry an orbital sander and refinishing supplies while overlanding. On the positive side, nice choices were implemented in the setup of the suspension and electronics.
That kitchen is incredible! Well-thought-out, all that storage and accessibility inside or out. So much room and storage, inside and out, for such a smaller camper. Great use of space. The shower surprised me, pleasantly surprised me. What a great camper. I really like this! I have a question. Can you get the exposed wood painted? It would be a little more esthetically pleasing to me, but it would be fine just the way it is. Also, what is the price range for this? I also like that it is not so huge that as an elderly woman, I wouldn't be intimidated hauling it.
Thanks for your comment. We are currently developing a few interior colour schemes, this includes the type and colour of plywood. The base model is $78K and is similarly equipped to the camper shown in the video. We are currently working on a comprehensive pricing list for upgrades and options which will be available shortly. Check out our website for details and contact information. Cheers!
Very efficiently dedigned camper. Would just like to see different finishes, colors to brighten it up, give it a finished feel. Good luck in your endeavors.
Dry weight - 2,600 lbs (not including options) Gross vehicle mass - 3,500 lbs or 3,700 lbs depending on the suspension selected (Coil spring or Airbags). The airbag suspension has a higher gross vehicle mass rating.
It would be nice to see the folded bed to have a useable purpose when folded. I have medical needs to lay down during the day. This would not work for me.

We hear you on the price. The Wombat Camper J-Series is designed for the severe vibrations encountered while traveling on or off the highway. As a price comparison, the Imperial Outdoors Xplorerv X145 starts at $110K, Kimberley Kamper Kruiser E Class starts at $91K, and the Boreas EOS-12 starts at $80K.
Way overpriced, for that kind of money it should be all aluminum. should have used kitchen grade plywood if your using plywood and put a proper edge on the plywood, looks like it was a short cut. I thought the weight seemed a bit much for the size but once I saw all the plywood, I see why its way overweight for such a small space. would not pull-on trails to well too heavy and too tall so I don't know why they are calling it an overland style. Other than the suspension it really doesn't qualify as an overlander in my opinion.
We hear ya! And we understand that the Wombat Camper is not for everyone. It works really well for us and the way we like to travel. It will get you further and is lighter than campers similar in size, equipment and features. And yes we do take it on trails, nothing too technical. It is not designed as a rock crawler. We can also unhook it to set up basecamp and go exploring for the day.
@@wombatcamper I am not saying it don't work but when you put it in to overland class there is a whole different expectation, overlanding is to head out and camp where you end up each night, not set up a base camp and come back to camp. The reason I look at other builds is because I am i the process of building a camper myself. the base frame and wall and ceiling frames are all aluminum. the outside sheathing is all aluminum. the only steel is the axel and springs you can drag it rock climbing and its not going to come apart. its 14.5-foot box a little over 6 ft wide. will have two 3/4 beds with 2 drawers under them that are 18 inches wide by 48 inches long, for clothes and bedding storage a dry bath shower sink medicine cabinet and toilet. kitchen with lots of drawers stand up refrigerator freezer, stove, microwave and a deep sink. Two freshwater tanks for a total 55 gallons, a gray water tank and a black water tank. TV stereo with speakers inside and out. heat and ac with dual batteries and 600 watts of solar power. the height is just over 6 ft and the top lifts up so that it is low when pulling. Its weighs 1800 lbs. dry. we do not call it a overlander because we consider it too long and a bit heavy for that title, we call it an off-road camper. and value it around Maby 45 to 50 grand. you did have some unique fetchers in yours, but I would call it an off-road camper not a overlander. and If I were you, I would try to get the cost down you can buy a small air stream for less than your price with all the amenities you offer. seeing what others are doing can help you make yours even better. I am not building mine to sell just personal use .
Only 88 minutes away. Wombat Camper will be available in chat to highlight features and answer questions as the premiere plays.

I love seeing how far this design has come! That first design in Australia was cute, but this wildly innovative!

The best!
Lots of clever touches involving the bed and cookware access. Cool bathroom. I do wish it was less expensive though given some of its rustic qualities
Thanks for the feedback Scott.
Very cool.
Yes 🙌🏼
The weight, size, and engineering is great.

Thanks! The interior height is 6 ft, 4.5 in
Wow, a lot of moving parts! I don’t care for the unfinished plywood look everywhere. I wouldn’t even call that rustic. But I looks well built.
They will have voices on the wood style soon
Can the A/C be used during the day with the bed in its day position?
Oops, forgot to add, I love it. Its got everything, and even if off grid, you're snug as a bug.
Yes, the A/C can be run as the direction of the fins can be adjusted.
$78,000 ? is a starter unit? WOW, too expensive.
It would not consider this a starter trailer.
How much does the trailer weight? I know your tow vehicle is rated to tow 6,500 lbs with a class IV hitch.
Dry weight - 2,600 lbs (not including options) Gross vehicle mass - 3,500 lbs or 3,700 lbs depending on the suspension selected (Coil spring or Airbags). The airbag suspension has a higher gross vehicle mass rating.
Brian GVWR is up to 3700 lbs to its a go for your truck

Why have you left the plywood bare? Looks cheap.
The plywood is finished with Osmo PolyX. We had the opportunity to consult with Txtur, a Roanoke VA based high end furniture maker for the plywood finish. We selected Osmo PolyX because it is a Hardwax-Oil wood finish based on natural vegetable oils and waxes.

A trip to Home Depot will show you plywood isn't cheap.

Nice, but way to much wood for my taste.
Fair enough!
