Shane explaining his stages of grief while skating, the shittiest attempts after almost landing the trick, Tom getting upset and screaming to the sky. This is the most relatable video to skaters😭💀
Its actually super inspiring to see someone who is pro, and who's style I admire greatly, working thru tricks. It reminds me that as much as we look up to other skaters, sometimes we forget that we're all human and we all go thru shit. So thank you for always putting yourself out there man.
Absolutely post the misses, being able to watch your feet and process makes learning these tricks so much easier. You've taught me crooks, and backtails just from watching your skating
Bro, 100% post it without making it, the process is sick, it is real skateboarding. The other day I was trying to get fakie flip tailslides back and didn't land one but it pushes you like crazy to get out there again. Btw like everyones saying, your channel is the best actual skate channel on youtube dude, no gimmicky braille stuff, no gifted hater dumbness, just skating, tricks, lines, sessions and homies.. i really hope your channel keeps growing ! 👏
Make more videos like this. The format is great. Sharing clips of tricks that didn't go as planned is, as Shane said, real skateboarding. Worth posting
Tom, would you mind filming a 3-5 minute video on how to Nollie heel out of Noseslides? I’ve seen every video, but man…I need some in depth insight.. and I need to see both of you do it… ❤ I love you dude, and I look forward to next Jackalope 🙏
This is exactly why I've been kindly asking you to do a, "KEYS TO SWITCH TAILSLIDES: BACKSIDE AND FRONTSIDE," video!! Cuz you're the master!!! Thanks Tom!
20:28 God, I felt that pause, that moment of consideration, and that quiet ". . . yeah." in the very depths of my soul. It's really cool to see your idols have a rough go of it. Reminds us that we're all still human at the end of the day. Banger of a vid, Tom. Keep killing it!
Definitely put out videos where you don't land the trick. That's seriously so relatable, to me at least. Sometimes it takes multiple sessions battling it out.
I look forward to these videos every week. I've done a handful of regular back tail kickflip back to regular, but it's been years and years. I'm at the park now, and this has inspired me to try and flick some. Skating at 40 isn't the easiest, but after watching this I'm cautiously optimistic.
Sorry, i just had an idea. Hear me out, i don't know what type of filming obligations you have with your sponsors, but you should make a small part of all the tricks you never landed before. It would be very insightful to what tricks aren't your strong suit and be inspiring for yourself and others at the same time. Just a thought. Love these videos Tom, much love from jersey
You and others might not feel the same but to me this was one your best videos so far! It’s so real! A vid like this every now and again would be amazing Tom! Put Shane on that halfcab blunt flip mission!
The best duo on YT. Also I think you need to reign in what your expectations for what's considered good. Tom you're an absolute monster on the sled so not thinking switch bs tail flip out is crazy but most of us can't even do that regular. I can only shuv out of tailslides and it forces me fakie 80% if the time. What's not that crazy for you is still miles ahead of what most of us can do so seeing you go through the process is great.
Love the videos! I would recommend that you put out the video make or not. I like the thought of not knowing if you will land it in the end. Skateboarding is not all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you spend hours, days, even years trying to land a trick and sometimes you don’t land it at all. Showing all aspects of skateboarding is where it’s at and there is no better person on youtube at the moment in my opinion that can do it better than you! 🔥
This was great. Super relatable to see this process. I'm going through the same struggle with regular ones. While people seem to like the idea of videos without makes, I agree with your initial thinking and really don't think they'd hit the same. The thing that makes this video satisfying is the viewer gets to share in the triumph at the end.
What an amazing clip. Shanes comments and how he always keeps it positive and backs Tom up. Its kinda sweet 🥴Love it. Also; that trick is so cool. Super awkward somehow. A true switch trick that looks super switch.
Love it! Super relatable, especially that feeling of "Oh God, hopefully I get a better make and don't have to take this one 🙏🏾" Plus great make the next day 🙌🏾
This is like watching the Joe Hiddleson tapes of Maldonado, Getz, Bam in the mid 90’s filming stuff for Welcome to Hell and Jump Off a Building, it’s awesome for any skater to see the process. We all know the struggle of getting it done and it makes it way better to see a new trick landed. Good stuff, Tom!
so sick to see that the process never really changes, whether its you doing an insanely hard trick or me trying to get just a bluntslide. love to see the process!
Bro, this was awesome, man! I'd be down to watch the ones where you don't get it (if they actually ever exist) because the skateboarding process is something aspiring pro skaters never really get to see a pro go through, and it can be encouraging for the younger skaters to know that even the pros struggle. I don't think the mental part of the skateboarding battle is shown enough, and younger skaters just think you guys do things first or second go because the only visible skateboarding pros do outside of videos is really street league and stuff, and a lot of that makes skateboarding look easy because nobody has seen the work ethic to master the tricks.
That process had me tensing up man. Love getting off work then skating for a few hours, then chilling on the couch watching a video you put out. Thanks for all this. Amazing channel and amazing skateboarder tom 💙
Sick battle and every skater can relate with leaving the session without getting te trick you wanted. Sometimes it’s like that but getting yourself out there day after day is what brings the progression. Definitely happy to watch all the videos on the process to get a trick even if you don’t get it in the end.
👏🏼 Hell yeah, well done! I love these kinds of videos. Reminds me that nobody has everything 100% in the bag when it comes to skateboarding, and really hypes me up to get out there and try something new.
Very relatable! Even if I promise the filmer and myself that I will only try 20 tries today, It might easily go to 200 tries, and after that I remember all the dreams I had before going to the park of all different tricks I was gonna try, but now I cant because Im too tired. Yes upload even if you don´t land the trick. It would make your other videos more exciting also cause then we never know if you gonna do the trick or not.
Was working on my switch 50s today and wasn’t landing shit! After watching this, I feel even more motivated to keep trying until I get it. Sometimes I get too comfortable in what I have and forget about the work. Keep the content coming. I love how you’re experimenting with formats and definitely upload ones even if you don’t land it and maybe come back to them as like redemptions.
This was a cool one! Definitely would have still dug it if Tom didn’t land it. I think seeing that process is super helpful and interesting. I’ve had this idea for a while but it’s hard to put into words in a comment section, but it’d be cool to do a keys video of the learning process/progression as a whole. Some points to cover that I’ve thought of: - How long do you try a trick for before deciding to move on? At what point do you call it quits for both the session and the long term? When do you revisit it? - How much of the session do you dedicate to learning new tricks vs refining the ones you already have? - How many new tricks should one be learning at a time? Like, at what point are you spread to thin? I think it’s important to highlight that the process and the above points will differ based on it being an entirely new trick vs a combination of existing tricks. For example, in this video you are trying switch back tail switch flip out. You already know how to switch back tail and switch flip so it’s just a matter of putting them together. Still hard no doubt, but a bit different than starting from scratch and learning just the back tail part. So personally for me, back tails are really hard. I’ve landed a few, but thats it. I’ve tried them a bunch on a few different ledges and I’ve dedicated many sessions to trying them without success. At a certain point I kinda just move on cause there are other tricks to do, but I also know that I have to keep trying them if I ever want to get them down. I’ve watched every trick trip video out there and I feel like I “know” how to the trick, I just can’t actually do it. I feel like I run into this kind of thing somewhat regularly and just dont know how to properly trouble shoot and approach the learning process when I get to this point. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, I think it’d be super helpful to have a video detailing your perspective on this process and how you would/did approach it when you were learning them. Let me know if you wanna talk about it further. Thanks dude! Love your videos.
Get a board with a little more concave and you could probably get better flicks/more control out of the slide. Won't have to worry as much about the foot placement. A 7.5 with reg concave would work as well.
Yanno Tom, you could legit just upload a video of you and Shane just cruising a trail and shootin’ the s*** and we’d STILL watch😂🤙🏼 We just love the vibes
I had a hard time with this one regular, popping it out quicker helped me get it more consistent the bs flip you can be a little lazy with the pop out and do it all one motion, but switch is 🤴
The first bs tail kf out to straight I can remember is the one Danny Garcia did on that tiny outledge in Inhabitant. Same spot you did bs tail bigheel. I think inhabitants came out a little bit before fully flared.
Shane explaining his stages of grief while skating, the shittiest attempts after almost landing the trick, Tom getting upset and screaming to the sky. This is the most relatable video to skaters😭💀
100% put out the video if you don't make it. The commentary between you and shane is gold.
good to know haha! it’s hard to gauge things without feedback so I appreciate this! thank you!
@tomasta the skating comes secondary to the bants between the boys. The clean ass skateboarding is just icing.
It also give you the opportunity of doing a part 2 as a redemption video @@tomasta
The banter comes off really natural@@tomasta
Naw fr i think just seeing the process any pro skater takes when not being able to land a trick is cool
Its actually super inspiring to see someone who is pro, and who's style I admire greatly, working thru tricks. It reminds me that as much as we look up to other skaters, sometimes we forget that we're all human and we all go thru shit. So thank you for always putting yourself out there man.
this format is so fun to watch, you should do more stuff like this - even if you dont land it.
Absolutely post the misses, being able to watch your feet and process makes learning these tricks so much easier. You've taught me crooks, and backtails just from watching your skating
whaaat thats sick haha glad the videos can help you! THANKS for watching !
my favorite RUclips channel. never disappoints.
thank you!!
💯

It's very motivational to see pros struggling to learn new tricks, it makes my struggles with some basic tricks easier.
Tom, would you mind filming a 3-5 minute video on how to Nollie heel out of Noseslides?
I’ve seen every video, but man…I need some in depth insight..
and I need to see both of you do it…
❤
I love you dude, and I look forward to next Jackalope 🙏
These videos are amazing, they capture everything thats enjoyable regarding skateboarding. The banter with Shane is the best! Keep the videos coming
This is exactly why I've been kindly asking you to do a, "KEYS TO SWITCH TAILSLIDES: BACKSIDE AND FRONTSIDE," video!! Cuz you're the master!!! Thanks Tom!

🤣🤣🤣

Next time same concept but with shane being challenge !!! Great vid by the way !

great idea! and thank you for watching ! glad you enjoy the vids
"how does that happen?"
"whattya mean? you never skateboarded before?" 😂
No matter if you land it or not. RUclips is for entertainment and this is entertaining even if you don’t land it.
thanks for letting me know! it’s nice to hear what you guys would want to see, so thank you!
You and others might not feel the same but to me this was one your best videos so far! It’s so real! A vid like this every now and again would be amazing Tom! Put Shane on that halfcab blunt flip mission!
Loads of your videos are great but seeing this one is truly inspiring and what skating is all about for me and the majority of people out there.
Showing Tom Asta love because the young lord is worthy
The best duo on YT.

so true! thanks for the insight! I agree! just want to make sure we are all on the same page haha thank you for watching!
Shane with the dad jokes and not even a dad yet. Lol
oh man he’s got too many lol 😂
Made my day! Thank you guys.
really cool to see you skating and chatting with your homies. great work tom! greetings from germany
🔥 gotta love the process

16 seconds into the video; Yes Shane, I'd like to see Tom struggle once in a while, top notch idea!
love the recent vids, there such a vibe! thanks tom!
ayy THANK YOU for watching !
What an amazing clip. Shanes comments and how he always keeps it positive and backs Tom up. Its kinda sweet 🥴Love it. Also; that trick is so cool. Super awkward somehow. A true switch trick that looks super switch.

Muy inspirador ! mañana pruebo algún truco nuevo.
I liked this. It is good to see a pro get into the weeds of learning new stuff.

Thanks for your commentary Shane. Tom you the best man!
New Asta video hell yeah!!

Another fun episode of the Shane and Tom Show. Keep up the good work!
That process had me tensing up man. Love getting off work then skating for a few hours, then chilling on the couch watching a video you put out. Thanks for all this. Amazing channel and amazing skateboarder tom 💙

Shane! The Emerica video was called This is Skateboarding
Dude, the style on the make was soooo good.
Good video man. definitely enjoy watching the battle and listening to the thought process back and forth between u and Shane.
thank you!
It's insane how good that trick looks. Definitely keep that fresh in the bag and do it often.
yea im gonna try to get them down! THANKS for watching !
The process is the fun part of the video
I appreciate seeing the process, especially on tricks I haven't seen you do before.
Really liked this one. Feels like a good once a month kind of vid.
dream team. persistence is key. super hard trick. congrats man
Watching the process is inspiring
Rad. You have inspired me to push myself a lot more

Hardbody karate. Favorite part of the week!
JEEZ dude that flick looked so good
I blame the struggle on you not having your custom shape 😉 👊
what if I told you this was on my custom shape… 🫣
@🤦♂️ then I’d just say it’s all that Halloween Candy 🫃😂

I like this format. Doesn't need to have money involved, I guess it adds to the fun.
love these vids man !
So sick!🤩🔥 This is 1 of my dream tricks
That was sick - uploads the fails too
Nice! Love these types of videos. More please! :D

You guys are the best team!
1st how can you skate 2 days in a row?
Second what kind of exercises do you do? Yoga? Stretching?
Yo love seeing the process! I often go through it but usually leave empty handed 😂
im brazilian and this channel is one of my favorites by far, just keep going
everytime lol THANKS for watching !
appropriate amount of chit chat
was done to perfection too even the artist himself was clearly satisfied :D
The double mic set up is so good sounding
I remembered in 'MISPRINTS' - Full Parts from Asta, Braun, McCoy & Flynn you did sw kickflip bs tailsilde heelflip off
I was gonna say the same thing! Such a good video ❄️💯❄️
Shane’s references were on point ✊🏾
Love this!❤
Good shit like always bro bro !

Tom that last switch back tail kickflip was so buttery
thank you!
DEEEEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hej Tobias Schnitzel 👋
best skate channel if you want to learn

the first regular one I can remember seeing was Danny Garcia in the Mosaic DVD extras. The first switch one was Marshall Heath in some SK8 mafia video
Tom should do regular heel flip back 5-0 heel flip out next 😂
Shane's up next!
nice Tom. Frustration was reaching a point. LOL.
Definitely post it, brilliant watch anyways:)
thanky you!
Aww shit multiple uploads this week is awesome
Te amo wey, saludos desde México
there is a direct correlation between how soon you release the pants and how fast you are able to land new tricks, its science. Oh and that new board.
Hey Tom , what’s your filming setup and mic fit your RUclips videos
I use my iphone 16pro and Comica Microphones 👍
Spicy 🌶️🔥
