I spoke to a guy playing in the street in London,he was amazing,I was saying about some people seem to have a natural gift for an instrument.he explained that it's mostly hard work and practice.but he also said he seemed to find it a lot easier than the other students.after 2 years of lessons and practice, he was way more advanced than his fellow students that put the same effort in. There must be some truth in the saying he was born to do it.i practiced for a year and got nowhere. Then I just did my own thing, trying to just copy Judy's priest songs ,and I did better that way.
Most people that say shredding is mindless, are people that secretly wish they could shred.
_"Shredders don't play with 'feel'!"_
Oh, really..??!
What about Vai? On Tender Surrender? For the Love of God.?? Or Whispering on a frikken Prayer...!?!
What about Joe Satriani? On Always With You..etc ...?!
Petrucci, Friedman, Wylde all shred with excruciating... exquisite.. poignant playing ...!
Now I want that grater 😃
There is a thing about the number of notes you can process as a casual listener. You hear the intent more the individual notes. Musicians may appreciate and be able to follow fast passages more easily because they understand how difficult it is to get to that level. But it's far more interesting to casual listeners to intersperse speed and space to where it serves the song. There is a reason why the top guitar solos of all time are not shred classics. Playing fast for yourself is one thing. Playing fast to serve the song and communicate to your audience is another.
Great list, and each one of the points makes total sense.
Look, if there's a game, or sport, or instrument, people will want to go fast. We inherently admire speed, and it's one of the metrics we use to gauge skill level. Egos are tied to it so the arguments can get fiery. Whatever youre playing, it should be to enhance the song, at whatever the songs tempo requires. Some people always wanna go supersonic, most want a mix of things. Just play what you really wanna play. If its a slow jam, then pour your effort into getting the most from each note, add fills, utilize various techniques. If youre gonna blaze, work to keep it clean, make arpeggios roll out the red carpet for you at warp speed. Have fun first.
Thanks, Anthony great video!
Thank you , Anthony
Blimey not seen you for a while
We all know the only music with "FEEL" is BLUES. A guy at the Jam said so.
How does anyone know what I am FEELING ????
shredding is mindless.
You ever say that to violin players?
@@priestfan81 I don't talk to them.
