i am new to the Blythe world and I truly enjoyed this video. It was so informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You have a beautiful collwection.
Very informative video, I appreciate you taking the time to share. I’ve seen some very beautiful custom dolls on Instagram and in my opinion really reasonable because as you stated an artist is giving you a one of kind and a lot of work goes into making these beautiful customs. Your dolls are adorable and I love their fashions.
Yes, it's a massive amount of work, especially if you consider how long it takes for the average artist to get good at carving and faceups. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for commenting.
I was lucky finding my first doll on eBay for under 200 2 weeks ago. It is my first one. Etsy is to expensive for me right now. I only can find good looking dolls for around 350 Dollar up.. this is quite alot for me. But I rather have only 2 to 3 custom dolls which I love than 30 cheap ones out of factory I just don't like the look of them.
I appreciate you covering this subject, though I do not plan to buy a customized doll. It is good to be aware and hear the experiences as they can apply in other situations. I hope to find another 'damaged' stock Blythe for a lower price, like I did in the case of my Mademoiselle Rosebud. She is lovely and I so happy to have her. Also, it's just good to hear a discussion on a doll type that you really enjoy.
The high prices as a "reserve" are sometimes just that -- a reserve; however, it's more often than not, a way for them to keep the listing up without paying for another listing. So if they make another doll, they will reuse that listing. If they don't have a doll available, it also serves as free advertisement. :)
Thanks, I have heard that before,, but it's still kind of confusing and off-putting. Sometimes I've seen Etsy shops where all the listings are like that, so it looks like they are trying to sell the dolls for outrageous prices. They still have to pay for the listing, even if it's just 20 cents. Thanks for the info. I was hoping someone would explain this.
You answered my question about $999.00 lol and I love all the information. I am not super new to the collection and so far I was buying takara Blythes and I love these customized Blythes now. I think Sari is so cute and she’s my fave from your customized collection even if her head doesn’t close. Have you ever thought of closing her up permanently? I think she’s perfect and I wouldn’t change her so that might be an option. Knock on wood I don’t feel like I have been scammed and I have met some of the nicest collectors (you included) ever! Thank you Tammy for all the info, it is appreciated! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☀️💙
Thank you for always being so informative I’m new collecting and I really appreciate how you explain the difference and everything about the dolls Do you have IG
I love these outfits. I’m gonna go check out Etsy to find a Valentine’s dress for my Blythe. I’m still nervous about custom Blythe dolls. How do you know if they’re fake or not? Do people customize aliexpress dolls or real Blythe dolls?
I enjoy dressing up my dolls for the holidays :) People customize both, and most artists are good about telling you if they were previously stock dolls or fakes before they customized them. Price is often an indicator as well. Often, very experienced/well-known artists will use stock, and their prices reflect that they have started out with a much more expensive doll versus a fake. Like I said in the video, do your homework and you should be fine.

Actually, after filming this, I remembered that I have an aplaca scalp that might fit her head. I may give that a shot.
Thank you for always being so informative

Is Etsy a good place to buy the customized dolls?
Yes, but of course, each seller is different on Etsy. There are lots of custom dolls there though.
👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
