Our 20 year old shower epoxy grout still looks like new. Also used it in the garage entry way. So glad we did with two young boys! But you do have to work fast!

Great video!! Love the content. IMO Spectra loc 1 is the best. I found tons of reviews saying it was hard to work with and left a haze which made me apprehensive to try it. I’m glad I did I found it very easy to use and the consistency was perfect. The biggest thing with grouting is the prep work. Take the time to get three 5 gallon buckets and fill two of them 3/4s with water and the third will be for waste water. Then I use a 5 quart bucket as my sponge buckets. I use 2 sponges and microfiber sponge. I fill the 5 quart about 2/3s up and use that till it becomes cloudy alternating between the 2 sponges and pouring it into the 3rd 5 gallon bucket. My helper will wring the sponges in between me using them and change the water so I can constantly be working. I’ve done my whole house this way with epoxy grout and had 0 problems. It’s a quick process with a helper. We were able to do the bathroom floors in about 20-30 minutes. The shower floors in about 15 min and the walls would take about an hour but we did them a day after the floor to allow cure time for the floor before the monsoon of grout falling from the walls 😅 U can cover the floor after your done and then do the walls but we didn’t. I didn’t think the spectra lock powder was that hard to use either so u can save about 20$ using that instead but as with most good products you have to get it from a tile supplier as far as I know it’s not sold at any big box stores.

Wow great story. What did you use to get off the old grout? I used the cheaper grout 10 years ago and sure enough we didn't seal it every year and of course the top of the bottom row became detached from the upper tile rows. I suspect this was weeping water down the back of the tiles and into the shower pan lip. Because I used so much caulk in the pan-tile transition seam, it had nowhere to go. It happened because my wife and son both take marathon showers and my son started using our shower while I was fixing the other one. So I am taking it all out again and am probably going to use my grinder with the 16th inch masonry wheel. I will have to do the other shower too. IMO they should not sell this other grout and expect people to seal it every year(ha). Headed to a tile supply store soon. Also planning on upgrading exhaust fan and connecting it to roof. Thank you.

Mapei Kerapoxy is my current go to for epoxy brands. How does Ardex compare??

Is there any difference you've noticed between Ardex WA and Laticrete Spectralock Pro?

Would you recommend using epoxy grout exclusively for tiled shower floors due to it being waterproof?

Have you seen Prism SCG? Single component grout that has an open time like cement. It’s nuts

Would any of those grouts you showed scratch that glossy tile finish? I have very similar glossy glazed tile like that. Thank you

I highly doubt it. High gloss marble or other soft stone possibly. But I’ve never had an issue 👍

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Used the Ultracolor Plus FA and it went great. Initially tested the CQ premixed but it was too gritty and didn't leave smooth lines. It also smelled 100x worse than FA haha. Thanks for all you do. Helped big time

But then you have to charge more money for epoxy grouts I've used them many times I want to know what you think about bostic hydraint vivid versus mapei FA

Epoxy is the best choice for shower floor and walls, however it is not suitable for porous tile like natural stone.

I would love to educate you. Hybrid grouts are horrible. They never cure hard. All grouts need maintenance. That’s a fallacy about stain proof grout. Grout issues in a shower are always topical. Cement grout is by far the best for showers. Hard, and easy to clean.
I’m a shower restoration specialist. I’ve seen it all. By far most problems are because of hybrid grout.
Epoxy while better, is still not worth it.

Because most grouts even after they're cured for a week you get them wet and you can brush them right out their soft very soft lot of grouts out there are terrible there's only a couple different brands that I will use

I used that crap! It was so thick it was almost impossible to get it in the grout line! And now it’s turned white! It’s supposed to be dark brown! Hated the stuff!!!! Never ever again! It was Ardex! No thanks!
