The 20s are Roaring and American consumers are doing their best to keep up. Buy now, pay later schemes are helping neighbor maintain pace with neighbor. However, beneath the veneer violent acts of all types were occurring across the land with gangwars, people self-deleting, and bank heists ending with dead bystanders.
We see Memphis, TN business men keeping their money at police stations to fend yeggs, or safe crackers. A California bank is robbed for a record-setting 306th time! Of course, it was a movie set. A Police versus Chicago gangster war commences, albeit one-sided and a Southern Illinois feud between the Birger and Shelton Brothers Gangs explodes. All in October of 1926.
