The fact that from December 18, the date of the release on streaming of "28 days later", "28 weeks later" we have June 19 with the release of "28 years later" is crazy. Well done
For everyone wondering why they posted this: Sony is re-releasing 28 Days Later digitally on December 18 after acquiring the rights. They uploaded this trailer because many digital movie platforms require distributors-Sony Pictures, in this case-to provide a trailer for online posting.
Sony owned the rights for a while, they just seen all the hype about 28 years later and realised wow, we can make so much money by releasing the first film
I was at university when 28 Days later came out. I was studying a film making module as part of a larger degree and, having been to see it at the cinema, I got really into this film. It's been a while, but if I'm remembering things right, this was one of the first proper "Hollywood" films to be filmed straight onto a digital format. No film was used. Which is why it looks the way it does. Personally, I loved the feel and the style of the cinematography. And the digital look of the movie pops into almost "found footage" style at times, like the camera is another character in the room, particularly in the action scenes. Interestingly, The Bourne Identity was released in the same year and had a very typical style of framing etc. that you would expect form a hollywood action movie. But it's sequel The Bourne Supremacy, released two years later, was directed by Paul Greengrass, and had a very much more "overt the shoulder" look and feel to the cinematography. Similar in many was to 28 Days Later. I like to think he took notes from Danny Boyle on that one.
I was on vacation in Thailand year of release and bought a bootleg copy of this movie to watch in my hotel. I had some major insomnia over the week and started watching at around 3AM.
