Thank you, I have learned a great lesson about when and how to add the water. Telling us to add water to each paint differently was like a light bulb went off in my head. Great lesson. :)
Thank you Jean! I really appreciate you watching and sharing. Yes, adding water can make all the different! I'm so glad you found it helpful!❤❤❤
Thanks, the best explanation ever, detailed and simple speaking I appreciate a lot…
Thank you watching and sharing your encouraging feedback!❤️❤️❤️
Anita you truly are incredible. I have never seen anyone put their Floetrol in their cup and then add their paint. I will try this too. I think this is the BEST video I have EVER seen. Thank you so much.
Thank you Marcy! I certainly hope it helps you with your paints! Thanks for watching!❤❤❤
Thank you so much! Very well done. Your are the first person to provide common household examples of the consistency we're looking for. I've heard buttermilk, warm honey, etc. LOL. Thank you! Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you so very much! I'm glad you enjoyed my video! Keep watching!💜💜💜

Hi Anita! After watching this video, I went into the studio and played with some paints and you got me closer than I have been before with my mixture for Dutch pours! Thank you so much!😊
For some reason, I'm just getting comments from this video! Please accept my apologies. I truly appreciate hearing how you have been helped by my video! Thanks and keep watching! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Anita for this video! I am in love with your talent, your art!! Your Dutch pours are the most consistently beautiful pieces of art that I’ve ever seen! I watch a lot of videos, but yours are, by far, the best!
I’m very intimidated by this art form, but you’ve inspired me to do a Dutch pour on the top of my bedroom dresser! I’m going to chalk paint the rest of it, & I can’t wait to try this!
This video was wonderful in teaching the consistency of the paint, which I understand is the most important thing! Thank you sooo much for sharing your gift with us!! ❤️
Kim, Oh my I just saw your comments! I had no idea you left these beautiful comments. Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and sharing your encouraging feedback! Thank you Anita, I am using Australian floetrol which is expensive and need to use it sparingly. I have been told that using PVA glue 60% and 30% water and 10% floetrol mixed will 20 grams of tube paint and 30grams of medium (glue/water/floetrol)...I wish I could afford to follow your method but the cost of products here are ridiculously over priced.. You made it so easy to follow and hopefully if I attempt to mix my paints using your method but with my medium mix...
Thank you Kathie! I'm glad you were able to watch my video. I'm not sure of that particular recipe but I know glue and water has been used. Some artist use only water with Amsterdam paints and it works well. Karen from Waterfall Acrylics uses glue but I am not aware of her recipe. Lets keep working on trying to find something cheaper than Australian Floetrol. Thanks again!❤❤❤
Great video
Thank you Ineta! I appreciate you watching and sharing your feedback!❤❤❤
I love your channel. My Dutch pours kinda suck. This is very helpful

Interesting way to show consistency.
Thank you for watching!❤️❤️❤️
This is a sorely needed demonstration for paint consistency. Btw this is a perfection demonstration because you actually SHOW us the mix and what the consistency is and should look like. Takes a lot of time and patience on your part. Thanks so much
Thank you Debby! I'm hopeful it will be of help to many!❤❤❤
I love, love, love this video!!! I have been tearing my hair out trying to get my Dutch pour right. Watching tons of videos and attempting to grasp the right consistency. This was exactly what I needed to relate where it should be. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
I'll have to check back with you and let you know how it goes when I try this. 😁

Thank Anita! I have always had difficulty with the Dutch pour and this helps a lot. I just started my journey to perfect this technique. I will be giving this a try.
Good morning Dovey! I'm glad you watched my consistency video. It has been helpful to alot of viewers. This is the area most artist struggle doing the Dutch Pour. I'm looking forward to seeing your next outcomes. Thanks again for watching! ❤️❤️❤️

Lisa, welcome and thanks for subscribing!🤗 That's great! Consistency is key in acrylic painting!❤❤❤
@@LoveYourArt ty!!! i found deco art 24k gold and felt like i hit the lottery!!! Lol i need to learn how to mix up the windsor and newton for dutch pours, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated???
@@lisamb4269 So happy you found DecoArt 24kt Gold🤗 As far as all my paint brands, I mix them with the same formula, the only difference is the amount of water added. I mix my paints with Floetrol first, then add water if and only if needed. I wish you much success! Hope that helps!
@@LoveYourArt ty for the tip. Can I use PVA glue??? I also have Elmer's glue all...
I have used Elmer's Glue All with 70% glue to 30% water. I would start with just a few colors to see how well it works on a small canvas.
Thank you so much!! The household example was a great idea!!!!
Hi Pam! You were one of the viewers I had in mind and spoke about in the video. I hope you found it helpful! Thanks again for the suggestions and for watching!❤❤❤

The 24K metallic gold is beautiful I'm going to have to get some
Im really hoping that you live in Houston,.
Awww… so sorry! Arizona is not that far from Texas!❤️
Very good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!❤❤❤
Great video! So i wiuld use this formula in each of the paints i ise for a dutch pour..? What would you add for cells?
Hello MHS, thank you for watching! The paint consistency shown in this video is representing one part acrylic paint mixed with 2 parts American Flood Floetrol which is what gives you cells. No silicone or other substance is required unless you want lots more cells. Thank you!♥️♥️♥️
Good morning Anita! Thank you for this video! WOW didn’t realize I was so far off😊 I have a question. When mixing Amsterdam and golden, what should the paint:floetrol ratio be? The pigment is different I know so should there be less paint? Maybe you can do a vid for that?😬🙏🏽
Good Morning Donna! Thank you for watching and for asking the question and great suggestion for future videos! When mixing Amsterdam paints, in most cases, I find my ratio works fine. When mixing Golden Fluid paints I usually add more paint and less Floetrol with little or no water added. These paints are very fluid and must be considered individually when used in color palettes with paints that are less fluid! I will consider doing a video about this! Thanks again!❤️❤️❤️
Great video !
Cathy, thanks for watching!❤❤❤
Excellent video! You are a wonderful teacher! Love the illustration with household products! Can you recommend a hair dryer that won't overpower the paint? I end up with mud. Thank you!!
Jennifer, Thank you for watching and sharing your encouraging feedback! I use a travel hairdryer that is 1200 watts with high/low heat setting only. It's called the InStyler Mini Tourmaline Ceramic Travel Hair Dryer purchased from Amazon for about $30.00 Unfortunately, it's no longer available available on Amazon. I'd say find a travel size 1200 watt hair dryer with a wide nozzle. FYI...If you are getting mud, check your color pallette selection. Putting too many dark colors together without putting lighter colors in between will create mud. It doesn't matter what kind of
hairdryer you used. Hope this helps❤❤❤
@@LoveYourArt Thank you, Anita. I think it was the consistency of my paint plus too strong of a hair dryer. Consistency improving, thanks to you. Keep up the good work!
Anita, one more question regarding dryer. Does diffuser shape make a difference? I didn't have diffuser so used end of plastic soda bottle (round). Is slat shape better?
Yes, some call diffuser or nozzle either way, it definitely makes a difference. Tight or near closed nozzle opening vs wider opening will yield different effects in blowout. I prefer a wider opening. Watts matter and nozzle tips matters.
@@LoveYourArt Thank you! Have a wonderful evening!
I appreciate you doing this and yes I've done it but I want to do that for yesterday and I just don't like it I didn't know if it was the artist loft soft body cuz they don't make the flow acrylic . Do you mix the Bace the same ? Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤
👏
Thank you Jack!❤❤❤
Another creator said that ii should run off the stick? That it shouldn't make a mound or trace. For a Dutch Pour,. That it should go straight into paint, no mound. Is that wrong?
Hi Brenda, thanks for watching and asking a great question! Every artist finds a method and or formula that works for them. I can’t say that a mound or no mound is right or wrong. I can say, look at their results and determine what works best for you. I have great results with a small mound My results speak for my experience as shared in this video and the Dutch Pours I have provided on this channel. Some artists provide formulas for using so much Floetrol, paint and water. I find a one size fits all formula does not work for me. That’s because not all paints have the exact same pigmentation. Some paints need water and some don’t require any water to get to the desired consistency. I hope this makes sense and is helpful! Thanks so much!❤️❤️❤️
Do you use the same consistency for Your Bass? Please and thank you. I have only done three four Dutch Bros no problem well I use artist loft for my bace I didn't like the way it turned out, So I mixed up some Amsterdam and if you go by kanella's recipe and then there's Mark's recipe which is 3 to 1. So yeah about the bace and the consistency and shouldn't it just leave a slight Mound and disappear?❤❤❤❤
Great lesson! Wish you had blown them out so we could see the end result! 😊
Thank you for watching and sharing your feedback!❤❤❤
Hi Anita, thank you for sharing how to get the right consistency with paint. Can I ask, is the base coat the same consistency? I have been learning to do Dutch pours but am finding my top paint disappears into the bottom paint.
Hi Janine! Thanks for watching! Yes, both the base coat and the layering colors are the same consistency. If you make them the same, you will not have the problem of any one paint disappearing into another. Be sure to add water only as needed. If a paint is too thin or too watery it will disappear. Hope this helps! ❤❤❤
@@LoveYourArt thank you so much Anita. I was about to give up altogether until I watched your video.
On the 3 to 1 that's in ounces
Lisa, thank you for watching and for asking questions! I use grams vs ounces when measuring. So if I use 2 parts Floetrol to 1 part paint it is in grans. I use grams when measuring to mix my paints. For example: 120 grams Floetrol to 60 grams paint. Add water as needed to get to the desired consistency. My base paint and layering colors are the same consistency. I don’t use a formula because not all acrylic paints are created equal. Some like Masters Touch brand are more fluid than others and they don’t require the sameamount of water. I stopped using Artist Flow Acrylic when they changed the formula to Soft Body. It has an adverse effect on the paints which I don’t like. Yes, my paints when mixed have a slight mound and then it disappears. I hope I got all your questions answered, but if not send whatever I missed to me again! Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
@@LoveYourArt yeah on that last Dutch before I posted was with the artist lost soft body and I'm wondering if it is why I had such a hard time and it didn't turn out orthodontist. Yeah I was just curious about your base paint, and thank you so much for getting back to me so fast, I appreciate it thank you 😋❤❤❤
How long can you store this once all mixed together?
Hi Donna! Thanks for the question. I can only speak to my experience. It depends on the quality of paint, additives, (ie Floetrol, silicone, glue, amount of water used, etc.) and storage method. I have used my formula 2 parts Floetrol, 1 part paint and water as needed. I have had some paints stored in bottles since 2019 that are still good. They only require shaking or adding a little water. Since, I paint alot, most of my paints have been used and replenished multiple times. The storage bottles are a huge help! Hope this answers your question! Thanks for watching! ♥️♥️♥️
Hi love ....do you mix the base the same consistency as the paint plz x
Hi Eleanor, Yes, the base is mixed the same way as the layering colors. It is critical that they ALL have the same consistency! Wishing you much success! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much I did my first dutch pour today and I'm so happy I followed your receipy ...the only fault I have now is the composition I'm just not getting it wright ...do you have a video on compositioning and if you do what number video is it please thank you x
Eleanor, congratulations on your Dutch Pour! Can you be more specific when you say composition, what do you mean? Are you speaking about colors, designs, amount of paint used, etc.
Sorry I've took so long in replying back ...and thank you so much
No worries! I'm happy to share and I hope the information helps you!❤❤❤
