We use a proper dedicated used ham radio website here in VK - VK Classifieds. I'm surprised US doesn't have anything similar (although QRZ does I think)... I bought my first radio off eBay though

Welcome to Team 570! I just futzed a deal for a second that was near-mint and far nicer looking than mine…but, I’ll keep logging the Q’s and try a different radio next, 891 or a more-mobile HF POTAable rig.

A good radio to check out is the ICOM ic706mkii since I see them on eBay for around $450. It's similar to the Yaesu ft891 as far as functionality goes.
I bought one as a brand new ham back in 2015 and it's my favorite radio in my arsenal

👍Good video, thanks. I have used a TS-570. A very nice to use basic rig. With the optional CW filter fitted, very competent and pleasant to use on CW. It possibly has the nicest designed front panel I have ever came across on an HF rig. Very nice to operate tactile controls and very well layed out with different colours/shapes of buttons. For most normal ops, you don't need to access the menus. The amber backlit display is very warm and soothing with a large frequency display.

I like buying other people’s _broken dreams_
I managed to fit out my studio for less than 30c in the dollar against the budget I had, just by being patient.
Bought my recent radio gear off eBay and Guntree too.
Only had one deal go sour on me, and sadly that was with a ham, who, sadly, is also a scumbag.
Brenton Medows stepped in. Luckily I got something, otherwise he would have kept my money.
He’s in VK7 and his name rhymes with Russel (Rusty) Jones.
We will meet in person one day. I look forward to it :-)

the ts 570 is an ok rig but on cw with the built in electronic keyer and even if you use an external keyer it sometimes puts in extra dots a common problem which is a pain in the ass . its ok on ssb and data modes .ive had one for a few years.and the display looks like its been attacked by a woodpecker.and i aint joking . ok if the price is right , but there are better rigs out there dont take my word for it check reviews. old cw op.

I also LOVE the Kenwood look and feel of that era of HF rigs. I look forward to this series of videos, Steve!
