    ESO needs a big Wow factor update. Something huge like a complete combat update to improve the decade old sounds and visuals. A major overhaul to Cyrodiil. Or a new major activity to stand beside the tentpoles of questing, pvp, housing, dungeons/trials, etc...

    • @isidroramos1073
      @isidroramos1073 11 месяцев назад +13

      'Need' is a very demanding word, but I agree ESO could use some major changes. I would kill for my favorite, a 'Obliviony' add-on that added diving and other underwater activities, Ayleid ruins exploration in a grand scale, and opened Cyrodiil to PVE (yes, I know Cyrodiil is PVP, but a solution shouldn't be so difficult - we could travel in time to the days just before or after the Daedric invasion, for example)
      Also, while I'm no PVP player, I think PVP needs (and please notice I felt 'need' was the right word :) ) a major overhaul... and think Zenimax should accept trying to make gear usable in both PVP and PVE is a work worthy of Hercules. And they aren't Hercules.

      Easy words to say things like we need a new major activity, but do you even have a rough concept of what that might be? They just released the archive. It's a bit much to ask for a completely new dimension like "PvE". ESO is fine

    I really like the feel of ESO combat compared to other MMOs and I don't mind limiting the number of abilities but I do think 5 (or 5x2) is too few. There are so many cool abilities I never used or stopped using because there's just no space for them. It feels like my character can only ever do a tiny subset of the stuff they should be able to do.

    • @jeffreyjenks8000

    • @Robert399
      @Robert399 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@rektaesthetics194 I agree with that (although I'm sure players of WoW, SWTOR, etc. wouldn't) but I think 5 is too few because it makes your build feel static much too quickly. With only 4 regular slots, basically everyone's gonna have a spammable, a heal, an AoE and a buff/debuff (especially for overworld content), which made me completely stop caring about ability unlocks by level 10. I didn't even bother spending skill points (apart from passives) because, hey, maybe I'll want them one day for crafting or whatever

    • @TheErazar
      @TheErazar 10 месяцев назад +1

      To be fair, you apply some dots, maybe some buffs/debuffs, and spam your main attack ability. Having more slots would only add more similar things to the rotation.
      More slots would make sense if the abilities themselves were more interesting, situational, and had cooldowns

  • @xeclipseshadow

    I think something very important to note for the purchase point, by waiting between several expansions, you can actually purchase several chapters all at once for the cost of only one with the collection upgrades. After elsweyr, i fell off eso hard, and recently transitioned to steam. By purchasing the high isle (i think) collection during a sale, I was able to get not only the most recent expasion, but every deluxe expansion before it and the base game access for less than 50 bucks, iirc. Waiting for a sale and pouncing on those collection editions is seriously lucrative in the long run to save money. Also, when it comes to the membership, if you are going to be an active player, a way to justify the subscription is that the stipend of crowns is exactly equal to your membership price. To me, it was just a monthly commitment to buy crowns, and everything else (content, craft bag, bonus exp, etc) was just major perks on top of that. Definitely helped me cut back the usual habit of throwing 50+ bucks a month at the crown store for cosmetics when i knew i would already have crowns saved just from being a member

  • @TheCrystalEssence
    @TheCrystalEssence 7 месяцев назад

    I discovered you back when Elsweyr first came out and I use to watch all your builds one after the other binge watching. I then took the jump and literally made 18 characters all between lvl.16 to lvl.40 solo leveling specifically story mode adventuring before quitting each character from burnout, trying different classes but I became to overwhelmed by complex guides on where to go, which quests to pick in specific order and where to run before progressing the main story. I always wanted to play the game as a single player game so I could experience all the story and lore content as a die hard lore fan of the the franchise before doing any multiplayer stuff and my biggest issue was it was so hard trying to keep up and not confuse myself amongst it all so I could have a chronological experience of the content and chapters. I saw the trailer for the new chapter and immediately ignited a fire in me again, so I'm returning and buying this chapter and your video just helped me solidify that decision but I know I'll be chasing years of content so I don't expect to play the new chapter until a few years from how convoluted and inefficient my questing becomes. I'm hopeful my first experience for an MMO actually becomes an experience this time and I can come to enjoy the genre.

Would love update to Cryodiil and an endless trial so say trial one is sunspire, you dont loose a thread next you get AA then SO & so on untill your team looses all threads, each cycle trial gets harder like endless archive. But cyro needs a new map & nerfing of ball groups

    • @venge2206
      @venge2206 11 месяцев назад

      Why would they nerf ball groups? That’s the whole point of the ball group is to optimize themselves to be the best group possible. If you don’t want to fight that go somewhere else or get a bigger Zerg. The group combat dynamics is what makes this game so good

    • @Korriban4034

Must be so much fun running in a ballgroup with 11 other players providing just about every major & minor buff the game has to offer zerging down the solo player in a 12 v 1, why didn't I think of that. If that is the kind of play you think is enjoyable then I despair. Ballgroup v ballgroup fine I get that let the poor players who need an ego boost to look good get it but when one BG wins solo players are always next & you know it. The current meta makes poor players look good as does hiding in a ballgroup. Tried it was so dam easy PvP was non existent so went 1v1 & will continue to do so. At least when I get my kills it's all on my own skill & ability not the aid of others via numbers or buffs & therein lies the difference between real PvP players & those pretending to pvp

Fact is from what I have seen the solo players who got farmed have now when 45k hp plus very tanky run in big groups or zergs & 12v1 zerg solo players (I bet that is so much fun) most solo players are not playing as much or leaving as ZOS does not cater to solo players anymore. I laugh when my kill feed is stacked with 284dmg from a zerg who zerg me down where I run out of resources to be able to fight back. That sounds like great PvP. Suppose it's all subjective but when I ran in a zerg we had one rule no attacking solo players but then again I don't expect the same courtesy as I farmed most of these players two patches ago when we was all solo 🤣

I think I'm going to need to sub though, as I've got a bunch of alts I had made for storage, all with inventories full, and a bank with 198/100 slots filled lol. And I honestly can't remember if any of the crap I hoarded is valuable or if there was any reason to hoard it in the first place. I don't think I was ever in a guild with a trader so I never had access to auction houses. Honestly the way the auction houses work in this game is kind of odd. I mean, there's a separate auction house for all these different guilds right? Are they actually at all useful?

    Great video and I couldn’t agree more with all your points. ESO has been my main since 2017. Most newbies start out with overland content for the first several months while they build their character and learn the game. However while the storyline is excellent, many leave because the overland combat is as you said, essentially story mode difficulty. It doesn’t have to be hardcore but it definitely needs to be more challenging to keep players coming back for more.

    Haven't been playing in a while, but I miss all the peace and fun I've experienced when I was still a deeply troubled teen. This game helped me greatly to keep on fighting through tough times. But after 1300h of playing, I was drained, which was my fault for doing things in the game that I didn't enjoy, like daily writs, dungeons, pvp... Everybody was drilling on me for not having decent gear, master crafting, best rotation, and you need milions and milions of gold to try buying crowns with gold, and even then it was disgustingly hard to do when you were bad at combat. These days this method went from barely doable to impossible, inflation killed that market. But, it's still "my" game. I have went through around five or six other MMORPSs and the only one I managed to stick to for a while is Guild Wars 2. Even if GW2 is very fun, well made game, it's also very predatory on my wallet. So yeah, will only take like 2 days and nights to download.

    A few things i think needs to be added into the game for full character's class to be in-depth and some other things.
    First, when you pick your Class it has three specialization with a choice to alter it, but what about adding a furthering skill depth by what your weapon is? I mean, it would add further gameplay elements to your performance as to what you focus your skills on and yes, the weapon has a skill tree of its own despite that why not give the Class a unique altered gameplay focus on the weapon alone? To give more actual in-depth.
    Second, a Combat overhaul is indeed needed for the entirety of how slow and sluggish the combat is at times along with the sound effects needing a revamp to be exciting as you immerse into combat and at the same time, enjoy your character's play style as you perform your abilities and such.
    Third, difficulty should be raised up to give players a edge to enjoy the game in a much thrilling sense? You barely lose much when you die and why not make Open Public Dungeons a little extra difficult as in you got to keep your guard up against the enemies being organized in their pattern to cooperate against you, since you are intruding their base.
    Finally, a lot of games are updating and revamping in some way to improve the experience in a much upgraded design and I believe it will not hurt to see ESO being given this treatment on its 10 year establishment of still going with upcoming content.

      no after the sub expires the dlc stuff is locked stuff like gear you got from those zones are not effected but if your good at making gold in game you can buy crowns from players and they gifted you the dlc zones you want. most of the time players are legit on the sales but every once in a while you can meet a scammer but they can get black listed easily by other players for scamming.
      also the daily log can give mounts and a zone dlc for free or there mite be a deal where you can pop up the store and there will be freebie but that is not often.
      the story in game is good and base game is 300 hours of content.

    For me the game's biggest drawback right now is locomotion quality and interactivity with the environment. I want smoother and "weightier" transitions between different animations, a sprint that doesn't look as if I'm constipated and flora/grass that responds accordingly when I'm running through it. Combat that sounds and feels weightier (specifically for melee) and not as if I'm cutting through paper.
    The fact that the game's visuals aren't fully committed to either realistic or stylized makes the game look kinda awkward and dated in 2024. The environments also need a bit more clutter and vegetation in general, to make them feel more tactile and lived-in. I'm sure they have the budget to improve on at least character animation. Would go a long way towards making the core experience feel more premium and less like your typical pre-2020/2010 MMO.
    That's the main reason I put the game down when Morrowind expansion was announced. The game was getting such massive new content but since I was playing it as a SP game anyways and the core feel of the game was already dated - I'd rather just play a premium SP game instead for that extra immersion I wanted.

My main problem is there is no hard mode to the campaign. I love all the content since I left but I don't want to play it if its a breeze. Great stories but boring gameplay gets in the way. If pvp is so important then why not just play a fighting game and if raiding is so important then why not go play a much more difficult type of game? Its a combination of the factors that make a good rpg especially when it comes to an mmo.

    Personally what I want to see above everything is for them to merge all of the servers and let all platforms play together. FFXIV does that and its partially why the game is so damn popular. There is no excuse that anyone can bring here that is acceptable for the contrary. Id be okay with going 2-3 years with no expansion if they would just merge the servers. The second thing would be to get the ps+/xblive requirements removed from the console versions of the game. Massive quit moment for a lot of players to find that they have to double subscribe just to play the game properly.

      #2- Sub requirements are not related to ZOS, not relevant.
      #3- The economy is fucked as it is, let alone with extra people to fuck it up even more. Console can't even use trading mods.
      #4- Console can't use discord to trade crowns or group up.
      #5- Console can't use mods.
      #6- Console has inferior graphics capabilities. So ZOS has no incentive to make anything decent for them nor PC.
      #7- Console would get wrecked in PVP. Controller is inferior to KBM.

    So many salty comments here lmao
    I started playing back in 2016 and stopped playing after morrowind (no particular reason, but I was focused on other games and the game didn't feel much fun). I was playing casually, didn't spend a lot of time in the game really, just hit around 200cp (with the old cp system) and cleared a few vet dungeons
    I came back recently and have a blast for the last 3 weeks! The game feels fun, really like the new dungeons, tons of new sets, endless archive is fun as well, atmosphere is amazing (much better than most mmo's I played), storytelling is ok at worst (some side quests are quite boring) and sometimes even amazing (which is a compliment to an MMO). Combat is... ok, I guess, hasn't changed much from 2017, but build variety is quite cool.
    I guess a lot of negativity is coming from the people who have like 2-3k hours in the game, which is understandable, but I've never reached that point with any MMO, I think for majority of gamers ESO could offer so much in terms of exploration, questing, dungeons, raids, achievements etc.
    tldr: sure, give it a try, especially if you got it on sale

    I will say this after playing for over 5K hours on PS and Xbox. This game REQUIRES ESO+, yes you can kind of play it on a gamepass or for 5 bucks but the game is so stripped down you miss out on key sets of gear and content that is required to do any true endgame content. If you really want to play this game and get a full experience, you got to have ESO+ just because of the resource bags and allowing for everything besides the most newest DLC. One could play long enough to get gold and have someone buy the DLC but sadly this game has been around for such a long time in order to get into a decent guild, you have good amount of Champion point levels in order to just be able to sell in an auction store or be able to do active questing with people besides randoms.
    Still this game can be a lot of fun but there gets to be a point where you are just facerolling 90% of the stuff out there and that 10% is so hard to gap that if you are not running the most meta sets of gear, most trial guilds and PVP guilds will kick you for not being able to pull your weight. Still the game does a bad job at gapping difficulty, you would be playing the base game and you can use your level 3 weapons and kick the shit out of everything including World Bosses in area, then when you do overland content or some DLC content you are getting beat up a bit more.
    Also there are tons of quality of life that are in the game. Hack explains mythics which are now pretty much a requirement to do any "tough" endgame situations, but aside from that you need the craft bag otherwise your inventory gets filled with shit. Also you might need mobile shops, banks, armory, and breakdown. It's a key difference and can be quite annoying.
    I will say Hack covers it but he paints it massively positive, when in reality this game REQUIRES ESO+ to get to any form of endgame. If you are willing to spend 15 dollars a month, then this game is worth it to a degree just got to put in the hours but if you think you're going to do a base game run and get a good experience, then you are going to be annoyed by the gatekept end game content but if you just want little small senseless meaningless lore, then the base game is okay, you might enjoy that.

    Cyrodil and PvP feel abandoned, Expansions are too predictable, No new class abilities or weapon types, Constant Gear nerfs have left 70-80% of gear sets useless, and the “Meta” hasn’t changed since launch, Sorcerer and Templar have remained the best classes in the game for as long as I can remember. I love this game and I don’t want it to die, just wished zenimax would address these issues.

  • @Bellthorian
    @Bellthorian 11 месяцев назад +1

    The problem with the "Solo" content is that it is so easy, it is nearly impossible to die. Where is the fun in walking around and simply clicking buttons. Again I bring up Age Of Conan, you can be maxed out on T-6 raid gear and if you are questing by yourself and do something stupid you will get killed. Age Of Conan ALWAYS had that level of intensity when you were playing and it was always challenging which made the game so much fun. ESO is a lot like SWTOR in that aspect, SWTOR is so easy it is more point and click adventure than an MMO. Catering to solo players and low IQ players is exactly what they shouldn't be doing.

  • @merpins

    I've been playing ESO since launch. Since before launch, my wife and I played in the beta together (more than one beta test, too), back when we were dating. There's no other MMO I've played more.
    I haven't played regularly in a while. They removed my favorite skill from Templar, and though I really, REALLY like Arcanist, it's more of the same stale content for me and my wife. We've done basically everything this game has to offer 10 times over, and though the two-man dungeon was a nice addition, it didn't really hold our attention for that long. It just feels... The same. Reusing assets, models, I've killed the same bone colossus and flesh atronach more times than I can count in multiple different zones at multiple different levels of difficulty. The meta is constantly changing yes, but it's dominated by the same 10 sets year in and year out, so if you wanna be in the meta, you're gonna be playing similarly to everyone else. My wife and I still play. But it's like once a month at best, usually less than that, when we just wanna go in and duo a dungeon or something.
    What someone said in the comments is right. The game needs some a wow factor update to bring in a breath of life for me. Hard mode overland plus an overhaul to the combat system (enemy AI mostly), and overland reworks: add more quests to the main zones, or even a second questline through the OG zones and even old DLC zones that pops up when you complete the main questline of the alliance you're doing, or the zone in the case of DLC zones.. Rework and buff all the sets no one uses so there really is more build diversity at end game, add more incentives to play the game like in WoW with cosmetics throughout the world that you can actually earn unlike how it is now, and most importantly, balance PVE and PVP separately so we can finally buff classes that are underperforming i PVE, and nerf the classes that are overperforming in PVP. I'd love to see Spell Crafting. But I don't think it'll breathe the life into the game that I'm looking for. Maybe it will for a while. But the game needs more than that for me to feel like I'm actually doing something new and not a rehash like it tends to be lately with this game.

    Have they revamped tanking at all? I am a 20+ year MMO player and ESO held my attention the LEAST of any MMO I have ever played. Tanking was so SIMPLE in ESO, hit your taunts when the timer expires and you will have aggro 100% of the time. That is so simple a talking monkey could tank in this game. Tanking in Age Of Conan for example, you had to do a certain amount of DPS to stay on the threat table so that your taunts COULD pull the boss. If your DPS just went full out and nuked the boss they would pull aggro and potentially wipe the raid. So having your rotation down perfect was a must to tank right in AOC. If there is no challenge in tanking in ESO there is no point in playing.
