When I was 15, i got to watch an episode of the Curse of Peladon in a hotel common room next to Jon Pertwee who joined us and did a running commentary. It was one of the most rewarding bits of fandom in my life. What a nice man.
I'm both jealous and super happy that Jon Pertwee was as lovely in real life as I have heard. BTW: I once unsucessfully tried to convince my family to fly home early from a package holiday in Portugal so I could watch Jon Pertwee interviewed on "Ask Aspel." Just one of the challenges of growing up in the pre-VCR age. Cheers
How the feck did you get under my radar! These dr who vids are awesome and I am now binge watching until my head explodes. Exterminate my baby. Your a fecking legend! I am choking on my own laughing!
What!?! The Time Monster is classic and the 6 part stories were always excellent, except the mutants which always drags on a bit when I watch it. Funny how different people see different things. Keep up the good work though!
My adoptive sister Charlie her mum was Wendy Padbury who played Zoe and my foster father of almost 26 years is TV actor Melvyn Hayes, I spent Christmas with her in 2023 and her stories of her time on Doctor Who are always interesting to listen to. I’ve been subscribed to this channel for a while and I love the content within it. Happy new year Stam Fine and best wishes Josh Hayes
Thank you for these. I had intended them to help my insomnia, but in actual fact they might now be exacerbating it! Tis the most enjoyable binge thank you! 🏆🇬🇧
You might already know this, but King Peladon is portrayed by David Troughton, Patrick Troughton's son. David would show up in a David Tennant episode as well.
@@bigyin2586 Yes. According to my online search, he's done some voices on a few Big Finish productions. He's also continued his father's role of The Second Doctor for Big Finish.
"Day Of The Daleks" does contain a wonderfully well modulated but slightly camp performance by Aubrey Woods as The Controller! Aubrey Woods was a familiar TV and film figure when I was young. The previous year he had played Bill in "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971) where he got to sing "The Candy Man".
Not only that it is my favorite 1970s story, but I have a feeling that I'm alone on that one. Everything just gels together perfectly and at four episodes it does not drag in any way whatsoever. From the Neville Chamberlain period style opening to the East Prussian Offensive style climax. In addition to that, I like the Dalek voices how they are. In fact, I find them more menacing than the conventional voices from every other 1960s and 1970s episode. The regulars being Katy Manning, Nicholas Courtney, John Levine and Richard Franklin are all at their best. Terror Of The Zygons is the next best UNIT story to this one and both make a great pairing better than Invasion Of The Dinosaurs and The Android Invasion did in that box set they released some time ago.
Just shows that we all have different tastes. I absolutely love Day of the Daleks and The Time Monster and thought the other Series 9 episodes were only average as best.
Dr Who is on Britbox and I was watching Day of of the Daleks and thought, shit, - the laser beams in the fight scenes are good for the 70's. Now I know it was a fan re-edit version
This could have evolved into a even better video: *The Daleks: All the BEST!* Featuring their top ten hit: *Exterminate!!! MY BABY!!!* Along with some of their other *Timeless classics* such as: *DOCTOR?!!? DOCTOR?!!?* *ONCE!!! TWICE!!! THREE TIMES A DALEK!!!* *THE WIND CRIES DARVOS!!* *LOVE ME TWO TIMES?!* *TIME! AFTER TIME!* And of course, their monster hit of the 1960's: *TIME! IS ON OUR SIDE!*
Day of the Daleks was a cool concept (I swear this story and The War Machines combined were the inspiration for the Terminator). It was just let down by crappy FX and a limited number of Daleks with terrible voices. The Special Edition does an admirable job of fixing these hiccups, and is far more watchable.
Pmsl - “...like a musical version of jehova witnesses...” I’m using that! Sea Devils soundtrack is my go to album for “I want to piss off the neighbours!”
I always enjoyed Pertwee. I really really enjoyed Jo. Being in America & watching 15+ years later didn't realize at first he was before Baker. 2:18- those aren't gorillas?
Three Daleks in Day of the Daleks I can live with, but what always puzzled me was did no one watch the scenes before someone gave the go ahead for the shot to be the 'final cut' as it were, 'cos why did they leave in the yellow screen by the door, when we should have been able to see the top of the stairs outside the lab.
When I first saw it I thought it was some sort of new Tardis interior because I had not seen any Jon Pertwee stories for such a long time when I was much younger and I missed this story when it was last broadcast on ABC TV around January 1985. That shooting gallery built into the wall I would have classified as exhibit A. I was much more used to the UNIT laboratory of later years.
I love The Time Monster; and I think most Doctor Fans dislike it for the same reason that most HP Lovecraft fans don't like The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. (There's more magic than science, so-to-speak.)
And monk trilogy, thin ice, knock knock, in forest of night, world enough and time/doctor falls (too many plot holes there), Doctor mysterio, anything with Danny Pink, the messy Dalek 2 parter Hell bent (sorry Capaldi, his era was crap).
Only just found this channel, like the humor and videos. Where is the opening Doctor Who theme used in this video from, sounds like it was played on a banjo or Guitar.
I was 8 when sea devils walked out of the sea was the first time I was proper scared, I lived in Blackpool and when my mates went to the beach I always made excuses not to go after watching this

I didn’t hear it but then again, I do have a bit of a hearing problem.

Fun fact about the Time Monster. The minotaur was played by none other than Darth Vader suit wearer David Prowse.
I wonder how the remuneration compared😏
Yeah we all know that anyway
"Exterminate my Baby"...love it!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The "Jo Grant in the 22nd Century" to the Buck Rogers theme had me laughing out loud 😂
The console room set in the time monster actually warped in storage and that was why it wasn't used again.

Great video. I was always struck by the disparity between the articulation of the two Ogrons on The Day Of The Daleks. Love the humour.
It's like Ogrons putting on their own production of "Of Mice and Men."

Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker the best two doctors
It’s almost like the BBC knew that Jon Pertwee would be big shoes to fill, so they picked another actor who was as tall!
You might already know this, but King Peladon is portrayed by David Troughton, Patrick Troughton's son. David would show up in a David Tennant episode as well.
