    Really enjoy your gear reviews, you do a great job. Yeah the conquest is a crazy stick. Super light and feels stronger than a similar rated nrx. I'd really like to have a spinning version, love the look and the handle/reel seat design. The durability is no joke. I have an 843c that I've been playing with for the last couple years now and you would not guess that it's been bank fished with, in and out of a kayak and an aluminum boat. Even with good care taken most rods would show some signs of being used in those situations but my conquest still looks almost new.

    I have an 844c and I’m of the opinion that it’s at the top of the heap in the “all purpose jig” category.
    What I was hoping for was a lightweight, sensitive, balanced rod that I *wasn’t* afraid to swing for the fences with....that last part is key. You can easily find rods with every other metric but a lot of times, they feel awful to swing hard. I haven’t broken an nrx before but it just looks and feels like it’s screaming “brrreaakk me, that’s right...do it!” The conquest feels like it actually wants you to swing harder, just so it can prove that you’re not “man enough” to break it. That was exactly what I wanted and a year in, it’s delivered in spades. And I’ll repeat it, since it’s in the video. DONT PAY FULL PRICE. Buying a rod like this is like buying a car. Only doofuses pay full price. I know there are some guys who hate it when you give out this info but so be it...I don’t really care, myself. Bass fishing shouldn’t be some elitist fraternity where only a “select few” can access the “Illuminati level” info...that’s some bullshit, imo. I got my 844 for just over $400...and at *that* price, it’s worth it all day. I won’t say HOW, because I like my sources and want them to remain so this info isn’t a total free for all. Just know that if you’re resourceful, do your research, talk to people and you’re generally a good hang, you can end up with some killer equipment at prices that most guys don’t think is possible.

    I have a Conquest 843c & and Xtasy 723c & 755c, the tips on the Xtasys are much softer than the Conquest. Xtasy looks better, but I like being able to put two fingers on the exposed blank under the reel seat on the Conquest as apposed to just one with the Xtasy. I also like how the Cork on the Conquest is tapered a little and it seems to have less filler than even the Xtasy. I like the look of the aluminium locking nut cover on the Xtasy better than the Conquest. But, the Conquest is 3.8 oz and the Xtasy is 4.6 oz, and the Conquest is a little more sensitive and powerful. I'm now using the Xtasy as a Finesse rod and the Conquest as a Jig and T-Rig rod.

  • @bryanfolkens290
    @bryanfolkens290 4 года назад +6

    A rod twist usually comes from not building on the spline. There is one point on the rod where has a little extra graphite when rolling the blank. If you build the rod correctly it should not twist

      Spoiler.. the new P5 is freaking amazing. I've handled the Rebellions in the store and they were light but they didn't blow me away. Its a nice package tho for 200 + 20% off. But it was overall kinda basic. Not sure id go for them over a Tatula honestly. Allegedly the Rebellion cranking/glass rods are gems though. Lotta people snapping those up.

      @@PunchFishing are you a fan of the P5 grip? I know you like to place your hand above the reel stem, and there doesn't look to have enough foregrip for you? On the Tatula, do you think there is a meaningful difference between the standard Tat and the Tat Elite? I like the cork on the standard Tat versus the foam grip on the Elite. Look forward to your review on the Megabass drop shot. Want to hear if you have found your drop shot rod or if you are still looking.

    While handling all rods with these carbon wrappings and comparing the rods that don't have it. I believe the biggest telling benefit is the power. They can make thinner/lighter blanks while maintaining power. The 902 Conquest is a good example, it has a very soft tip like what you'll find on a ML rod, but has a medium backbone.

    I have to say after using this rod for quite sometime and I paired it with a Stella I absolutely love it but I love my st. Croix legend x more. Soooo where exactly do you get the 20-30% off of these rods? None of my local shops carry these so walking into one and asking for a discount isn't an option. I was able to buy one used for $500 but if I can pay the same for a new one I'm definitely interested! Do you know if Shimano also offers discounts on their reels?
    P.S. Nice shoe game too!

    • @rex3453
      @rex3453 3 года назад +1

      Email tackle shops directly. Don't be an ass and immediately low ball them, just be honest and friendly, say the Conquests/NRX/GLX/Whatevers are a little too pricey for you but you're edging to try one out, politely ask if you can buy one for 20% off. A lot of the times they'll do it, however this is the worst time to buy a rod. Shimano / Loomis is so backed up in producing rods they cannot meet the demand or even the warranty replacements people are requesting. You will not be getting 25-30% off like you used to. After this is all resolved (~6 months probably) ask tackle shops, build relationships with the staff and owners, and you'll get high end gear for well under MSRP.
      American Legacy is a good starting tackle shop. Highly recommended, everyone knows about this one. There are several others, hell one tackle shop has a RUclips video that's to the right of this video as I type this, The Hook Up Tackle. There's two. Tackle Warehouse is not one of them, fyi. Neither is Bass Pro Shops lol. HOWEVER, during Tackle Warehouse's black friday sale, Shimano and Loomis are listed as NOT qualifying for the 20% off site wide deal. THIS IS INCORRECT. You WILL get the 20% off AFTER you pay. Due to MAP pricing, they can't advertise them being on sale, hence why they "exclude" them. Megabass too.

    I wish Megabass would put better cork into their rods like g loomis. Sucks to have small filler amount on a brand new Orichi Whipsnake fall out along the cork to plastic on a the grip (bad spot to have filler in the first place) even sealed with U40.
    Anyways, Good review on the rod. It’s to know about some of the higher end rods because of the limited amount of info on RUclips about them.

I was concern because salt water fish are much stronger and they pull hard. To my surprise it was able to handle all sizes from 14"-28" lengths of speckled trout and my biggest flounder was a 25." It is so sensitive on bass- especially drop shot set ups. I used 1/4-3/8 oz. on the bucktail and with a gulp curly tail trailer. I was able to drap and hop it on the bottom and felt flounders nibbling on the lure.

    Hey there- was hoping you could help me with some rod selection for a new baitcasting setup- here are the baits I'd like to throw on this rig:
    -3/16. and 1/4 oz Uoze swim jigs with ~3.3-3.8" keitech trailers
    -3/16 oz. 3/0 owner weedless rigged underspin with 3.8" keitech or 4" spark shad
    -1/4 oz. minimax chatterbait + 3.5" trailers
    -The new 4" topwater Zman GOAT Toadz rigged on a 4/0 EWG weightless
    -3/8 oz. spinnerbait
    -3/8 oz. dark sleeper
    -3/16 or 1/4 oz. finesse jigs + 3-3.5" trailers
    -3/16 to 1/4 oz. texas rigs + 4" plastics
    Do you think it makes more sense to go with the 842c or 843c for these applications? My main concern is that because some of these baits are closer to the lighter end of the range on the 843c that they will not adequately load- even though it would probably make most sense to have a Medium Heavy to drive some of the larger 3/0 and 4/0 hooks home on the swim jigs, texas rigs, and topwaters I intend to throw. @@PunchFishing Thanks. I have one on order and it should be here this week. I am a “seasoned” fisherman (old guy), and I really enjoy your videos. I switched over to all Spinning gear about 25 years ago and haven’t looked back since. I did this mainly because I do a lot of saltwater fishing and only have spinning gear for this. Also because I learned how to fish on spinning gear a long time ago. I did some local tournaments for a few years and never felt as if I was giving up anything to the bait casting crowd. Did pretty well for those years. I know you’re really not interested in my history, but I wanted to thank you for doing spinning rod reviews as much as you do. Keep up the great work!

Pretty good salesman but never able to get a discount. Would love to hear where you are seeing these lower prices. thanks, Mark

      I meant you take more of a hit selling a Conquest than a NRX. Between sale price and purchase price. Used Conquests don't go for much more than used NRX's. I'm actually seeing used NRX+'s going for more than used Conquests lately.
