In this list we’ll be donning the cone of shame for video game remasters that somehow managed to make the game worse when updating these beloved classics for modern consoles. For this video, games such as the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, the Silent Hill HD Collection and many that aren’t simply easy cash grabs by Konami! Cmoon Super Mario 3D All stars is 1 of the Best Remaster/Remake ever just because it have a 3 games, but yes games like Super Mario 64 what's camera problems wasn't fixed are the Worst, but Super Mario Sunshine is nice and Galaxy 1 is the Best. I'm glad to buy Super Mario 3D All Stars just at a launch, because now the Game pays 100€ in everywhere and that sucks! The GTA III definitive edition. the controls sucked an wasnt good. i actually liked the Master Chief collection. ( i didnt play online much but they did a pretty good job)

I would have expected widescreen on SM64 at the bare minimum. And for $60 I would have realistically expected updated models and shading, but... nope!

The Halo collection only had a rough launch and after years of updates, it’s by far the best way to play those titles.
Imagine waiting for not days, weeks or months but years to be able to enjoy a remaster game
The problem I have with this video...this channel a lot of the time...is you bring up the game, go into an explanation as to whats wrong with it...but you don't show actual footage of the issue. Like your Silent Hill HD Collection, when you're talking about there being too much fog, you proceed to show footage that has nothing to do with what you're talking about. You want to talk about companies doing the bare minimum with their games, yet you guys do the bare minimum with your list videos.
They just care about lists for the algorithm not quality of the video. I agree

So your biggest problem with Mario All-Stars was the 9 month availability window and that somehow makes it one of the worst remasters? Suddenly Watch Mojo's creditable is on the same level as IGN.
The 60$ price dont justify the bare minimum of the port they put
So let me get this straight somehow, based on this list, MGS not being updated in any way is WORSE then GTA being a trainereck at launch in addition to the originals being delisted before “definitive edition” was released🤨
XIII needs to be here. The original release was so bad (and I played and beat it) the publisher ended up giving it to a brand new developer and released essentially a new remaster as a free update.
As a fan of both the original game and the original comic, that one was absolutely painful.
Re-release is also terrible, but at least w/o gamebraking bugs
I have never in my life been more depressed than i was when i saw how broken Battlefront Classic was. It was such a simple task: make online functional, they couldn't even do that, and broke entire areas of the game that worked in the original.
Bluepoint games should be in charge of Remastering Games, since they are the masters of it.
Virtuous Studios has done a good job remastering games, too. Also QLOC.
2. You forgot the worst part! They forced ALL EXISTING VERSIONS OF THE ORIGINAL WARCRAFT 3 to update to the new version! Basically making it so that no one could play the original game as it was EVER AGAIN! And guess whaaaaat? They didn't learn their lesson! They did it AGAIN with Overwatch 2! They're basically saying: [This is said in an impressionof South Park's Mickey Mouse] "Either you play THIS version, OR NOT AT ALL!"
When the only way you can get people to play your game is at gunpoint, IT'S NOT GONNA BE WELL LIKED! AT ALL!

@@J-S_93 Actually, that's exactly what I got from the title of the video: 10 games that companies tried to remaster and dropped the ball hard. Not 10 games that used to suck until their devs finally pulled their heads out of their asses.

I disagree with Super Mario 3D All-Stars, they could've placed Sonic Colors Ultimate on the list, because of the massive amount of glitches left from Blind Squirrel games.
Unlike mario 3d collection, sonic colors wasnt 60$ port that was limited for short time

Agree with most except for Symphonia. That is currently in a great condition. The 30fps issue is so minor - any other issues are gone at this point

Super Mario 3D All Stars was never intended to be a remaster, so doesn't have a place on this list.
We can dis GTA Definitive all we want, but let's be real, we only hate it because it's overpriced.
The way they added mouselook to GTA 3 and Vice City and drive-by shooting became easier. And GPS. All that stuff was really cool.

Wtf are you talking about? They are simply worse versions of the games regardless of price and they replaced the originals on steam. They even _look_ worse.
Mouse look could just be modded into OG, on top of millions of other mods that made those remasters pointless. I can pirate any version I want and I choose OG for good reason

Nintendo also sold Mario All Stars in 2020 during the apocalypse. Making it limited at that time especially is a dick move.

Nah fam, what let Super Mario 3D All Stars was the lack of Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania as while it took things back to it’s roots, the execution/sounds/some visuals feels stale when compared to the original especially when they gatelocked that as dlc but only for characters/music. Also oh boy was Sonic Colors Ultimate was the peak for a hated remaster as there was various problems across the game along with some areas not getting as much of a needed touch up.
Those pigs at Bandai Namco should be ashamed of themselves! Seeing these failed remasters from Konami makes me fear for the Suikoden remasters now. And the Battlefront Classic Collection just aches my heart.

In spite of everything, I am glad I got Super Mario 3D All Stars, now I can play 64, Sunshine and Galaxy whenever I want. I understand the issues and it certainly isn't anything overly special and could have been way better, but I remain grateful.

I got Silent Hill HD Collection Recently and So far, I’m actually enjoying it. I’m not seeing any bugs in the game
I’d have to admit, I still LOVE playing the remastered version of the old Star Wars Battlefront games through the single player stuff. But yeah, that ear PIERCING sound I’ve heard is LOUD as HECK!
Well I don't know why I'm not surprised at all that GTA Trilogy is here I think that the trilogy had potential and it could be amazing and fantastic to play but it ended up to be a nightmare instead of a dream
As much as I love MCC in its current state, there is no excusing the state it launched in and the fact it took 4 years of updates to finally be a good collection.
Metal Gear Master Collection was fine. Sometimes, I prefer a straight port anyway. Sure it was barebones, but for one thing, THE GAMES WORKED! AND they're now on modern consoles. If you wanna come at me with torches and pitchforks, be my guest.
MGS Master Collection isn't a remaster. Just a collection of old games. Of course they could have done more with it, but at least it's functional.

I feel that Sonic Colors Ultimate should’ve been on this list instead of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, because 3D All-Stars are emulating the original games instead of porting off of the original source code, Sonic Colors Ultimate used the source code from the original Wii game, and was severely screwed up by SEGA’s management, especially the Switch version, which lead to a lot of seizure inducing moments.

In our current era? Watch Sheena wear a burqa, Raine slap down and emasculate Kratos, Lloyd be even dumber, and Zelos be flamboyantly anti-female. But only in the English-language version.
My most upsetting remaster is Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey for the Nintendo 3DS. I have never played this game, but as I saw it on RUclips, it's just plain uninspiring. Compared to the original game for the Nintendo DS, the remaster's gameplay and designs were unsatisfactory and the campaign of Bowser Jr.'s Journey had no potential.
As a huge fan of the Mario & Luigi RPG series, counting Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story, I found this remaster very unacceptable that it caused the developer of the series, AlphaDream, to go bankrupt, even causing the entire series to DIE. I feel really bad for the developer going bankrupt and the Mario & Luigi series becoming dead ever since this disappointment was released on the Nintendo 3DS.

I get the feeling a lot of people are going to disagree with me but I think starcraft remastered is not a great remaster. Even before it was released like a year before they released starcraft remastered they started adding custom hotkeys to all the units and buildings and add-ons and upgrades and research and whatnot within the actual game itself. Yes that was something they added in the original starcraft about a year before remastered came out so you cannot claim that remastered brought the custom hotkeys because the custom hotkeys were added to the original game a year before the remastered version came out. Now I'd like to talk about what I don't like about the starcraft remastered.
All they did was starcraft remastered was just make the graphics look better and have an online matchmaking system akin to Warcraft 3 and starcraft 2. Okay cool that's great. But the AI of the units themselves like how incredibly stupid dragoons are was unchanged. The amount of units you can select at a time was unchanged. In starcraft 2 you can select as many units as you want and move them all at the same time. When you can get a whole lot of infantry or just a whole lot of units in general especially if you're The Zerg And this is coming from a Terrran player You need to be able to select more than 12 units at a time. Yes I know how to group them with the control key and a number key, but even then I could end up with enough units to the point that it starts getting really hard to group them all.
On top of that they didn't change it so that when you select a group of units that have the same abilities and you use the ability and only one unit among that group you selected of the same unit would use the ability at least depending on what ability it is. That was a change that was made in Warcraft 3 that worked really well and they continued that in starcraft 2. Some abilities all those units would use at once but that was stuff like stim packs and siege mode But Yamato cannon Only one battle cruiser at a time would use instead of all of them because you really don't need all of them to use it at once.
Ghosts which I get in the original starcraft you probably are never going to use except if it's very situational unlike their far superior counterpart in starcraft 2 But if you happen to have a group of ghosts in the first starcraft You only want one at a time to use lockdown. All takes is one lockdown to completely stun a mechanical unit but if you select a group of them and use lockdown, every single ghost will try to hit the same mechanical unit with lockdown even though you only need one.
I really wish they made some changes to make the gameplay better than how it originally was. The game was nearly 20 years old when they released the remastered and they just kept it exactly the same other than updated graphics and an updated match search mode.
mgs hd collection has a metacritic of 90 what drugs were mojo on in this video when saying it had problems

I didn't care about Metal Gear Solid's outdated graphics and gameplay. I've got used to it. But don't judge the book by its cover, I've never played these games until now and it was the best experience I've ever had.
Even though some parts are out dated and clunky, this is a series that have aged like fine wine.

I could never get past Stage 4 on Parappa the Rapper, that is one of the worst rhythm game chart's i've played and i'm a rhythm game aficionado (i've played a ton of rhythm games, it's my favourite game genre, they are dangerously addictive)

I don't think Mario 3D All Stars and Halo MCC deserve to be on this list. Yeah they launched unpolished but they're great ways to experience the classic games, especially post patches. In fact, Halo MCC is the definitive way to play the classic games.
I’m tired of companies that puts a decade old game and slap it with the dreaded “Remastered” in it. Not every Remaster can be a success (unless fixed properly with the glitches). Limited Run is notorious for putting Gargoyles Remastered. I played the game and it just plain suck.
The only bad thing about Halo 2 Remastered was online. And that was more of nitpicky.

It was bad when it first launched, but now with all of the patches to the game, plus the inclusions of Halo Reach and Halo 3: ODST, it's improved ten-fold.

Come on WatchMojo… did you even do proper research on the silent hill hd collection? You mentioned just the fog? You mentioned like one thing. What about unfinished source code used? retextured assets like rapaved clean roads & recast poor new voice acting? & replaced audio for certain sfx? poor frame rates SH3?
Did they SHOW anything relating to the issues mentioned for the games on the list? No. They showed off gameplay and nothing else.

For me it dosen't matter if Grandeft Auto Auto: The Trilogy Dedinitive Edition 2021 is the Worst Remaster, i'm still really interested of that and just because it have a 3 games as 1 game's price like GTA Vice City and San Andreas the Classic Ones defienitily 2002 Vice City and what's even the Worst, i'm interested of buying and playing The GTA Trilogy and RDR1 on the Nintendo Switch, because sometimes the Worst are the most Fun! 😅❤

The Metal Gear criticism make no sense - they brought back the games untouched without doing too much to them - and that's what they did, they didn't do anything negative. Saying bare minimum is just a bad take. And the way they released it is how a lot of people wanted it to be.
The first XBox GTA games looked a little better but the controls sucked . Rockstar never readjusted the controls . The PS2 versions rook advantage of the PS2s pressure-sensitive buttons . That and the vehicles were annoying to control on the Xbox

Also its not really a remaster at all but an acutal collection of older games which is good if you want to play classic games.
Honestly remasters are not truly the original games and are often entirely new or at least heavily modified versions of the original game.

Battlefront classic collection does not belong on this list, it's a great remastered, and what idiots don't get is that it was never about the online shit, but the offline gameplay like back in 2005 versions were, aspyr was idiots to promote it wrong, I've put sevral hours on my rented copy of battlefront classic collection, cause it's digital, you don't own,you rent, I really hope it gets a physical release, so I can actually own this great collection
