Excellent!!!! Lovely music and footage!!!! ... This melonseed dreamy Bagginses now has now procured a set of Barto building planses with the intention of building a fiberglass skin on stainless steel frame rendition, named "Harm's Way" tribute to John Paul Jonses.
John - always nice to watch and listen to your work/play. My MS is now closer to you with a new owner in the finger lakes of NY - who knows, maybe ol #90 may make it to one of your event/sails! thanks as always R
Merci Michel! (I had to make a small correction to the original upload.) Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow ... perfect weather to make a start on editing my Lac Masson video!
Perhaps but the current sail area and shape are optimal for the 10 foot spars on the Crawford Melonseed. Interesting to note that the wooden skiff that Roger used to make the molds for his production boat had a rig with a smaller sail area. Roger tested his boat before production and realized that he could increase the sail area to its current size of 62 square feet. Hope this helps. If you’re thinking of acquiring a boat, don’t hesitate to call Roger at his shop if you have any questions. He’s always very helpful.
Flat water definitely helps when rowing but she handles the chop well under sail. Check out this video to see the boat sailing in a big breeze and waves … ruclips.net/video/9Cvp22vWGdg/видео.html
I am told people use red sails to reduce eye fatigue as white is too bright. Is this your reason? Any input? By the way is your MS standard length and how do you feel about the enlarged version?
I chose red sails on the Melonseed for the “traditional” look. Had never considered the brightness of reflected light so thanks for mentioning that! I really like my Crawford Melonseed skiff at 14 feet. It’s perfect for me … so easy to launch, rig and get back onto the trailer. If I was cruising regularly, I’d probably choose a bigger dinghy, not necessarily the Melonseed.
Seems like an absolutely delightful day of just pure fun and relaxing sailing.
Indeed ... another fine Melonseed adventure to remember!! Thanks for watching!
love it!
We could all use a pleasant daydream now and again ... Melonseed Skiffs and Hobbit music seemed a perfect match for just such an escape! Thanks!
Very nice 💖
Thank you!

Barto plans … sounds like you are going on an adventure! Glad you liked my Middle Earth Melonseed dream … thanks!

Thanks Rob … the Finger Lakes are an excellent sailing ground for #90 and her new crew!
I was going to comment but you took the video off! Very beautiful and I love the music also! :-)

@@GrenvilleMelonseedSkiff496 Go for it! I want to see it! :-)
I do like these melon seed dinghies. I wonder if they could handle a bit more sail area?

Nice sailboats. Are they mainly flatwater boats? They seem to ride pretty low in the water...
