Matt definitely secretly speaks Welsh or something. He’s giving off those vibes. In all seriousness though it’s mad that you can choose real life locations in this game adds a whole personal touch and it’s just fun to know exactly what building was what before the apocalypse. Only downside is the game doesn’t seem to 100% understand the layout of the buildings
I think the game uses OpenStreetMap data so that's definitely a limitation, I've checked my town on the website and a lot of places have comments from map editors asking locals what's there because they can't figure it out so it's bound to have some mistakes, the ones I remember the most are buildings that no longer exist but haven't been updated in years, the plus side is that if you're into maps you can become an editor yourself!
You Have Map Editor in Tools on Steam and You can Always change views of buildings.

Sounds like my last visit to Amsterdam tbh honest. Scary to think we're not even allowed to chop down trees for wood to build a wall between here and there.
I went to uni in Tucson and all the buildings are short and flat-roofs, all sand and dead trees. That plus it was summer so few people were out, whenever I flew in the view looked like the apocalypse already happened.

swansea is indeed a shithole
What’s ironic is if this simulation was run in a place like Long Island New York, if ya put your HQ right on the water, it becomes insanely easy because they can only come from the front. Montauk Lighthouse being one of the most easily defendable HQs you can have in that simulation game. However your squads have to travel much longer to get anywhere, which means you slowly have to move your defenses forwards otherwise you run out of resources very quickly.
The nice thing in that situation, depending on if your zombies can't traverse water, is none can come up behind you as you _do_ move forward.
So, retreating all the way back isn't necessary.

Hold on, this game is quite insane. Almost any location you can choose from, and it actually recreates the buildings ad all in 3D in an apocalyptic setting. Preeetty cool

Picking any city or town especially your own to play in the game is by far the most unique zombie game you could make and I'm all for it
And the way they make it so you can't build new buildings but adapt is the greatest game idea I have ever heard of, I reallly want to play this game but can't.

There’s a cafe next to the Indian now and it’s absolutely goated. Board game coffee that has an alcohol menu so it’s good for drinks before going down wind street. Surprised he didn’t mention it
No wayy! I’m a civil engineer student in Swansea that basically lives on same road!!
One thing my mother would do (being a catholic) is to ask other people how many nuns they saw in their life... it was quite interesting, as most people might answer one or two on average... think my mother would even remark how she saw about 2 so far... despite being raised in a catholic household... its kind of bizarre, and very rarely when asked, someone will mention how they saw a dozen, but I have yet to hear from any who saw more than that... nuns kind of give off that unicorn energy imo lol
Looking forward to this game's release, as I have seen on-and-off gameplay of it for a long time and it looks amazing. Can't wait to secure an entire city and work out from there

Another game clearly meant to be played mostly on pause, so you have any chance getting enough orders out in the short time between waves, having each squad/builder do something at all times... being played entirely in real time to handicap oneself. Damn RCE :p

Architects are just braindead, so they initially are Zombies!
I would love to see this become a full series from RCE
The defensive buildings constructed seem to be attacked by zombies so use walls near safe house to distract them and use multiple safe houses near each other for more fire power with main base in middle

...Half tempted to try this with the little town I grew up in, if the numbers reflected reality ye'd probably only have all of three hundred zombies to deal with.
The capability of being able to do that with the mapping is pretty significant... That's no simple task
A college campus is the last place I'd look to see where the zombies are. No way we could tell the difference between the walking dead and students.

Looks so much better than the pre-alpha you played, though I do worry that they may have gone overboard with the zombies. Maybe it's just because you picked a city, which is obviously going to be a deathtrap? Hopefully more rural areas wouldn't be stuffed with thousands of zombies.

This game looks insane
In the Second World War, Swansea's industrial importance made it a target of German bombing, and much of the town centre was destroyed during the Swansea Blitz on the 19, 20 and 21 February 1941 (the 'Three Nights Blitz]).
Since wood is such a critical resource early on, maybe location selection should focus on more rural areas or next to a park? What d 'ya reckon?
Funnily enough this actually reminds me of the scavenging section of an old Flash game called The Last Stand.
Except now you can experience the classic Swansea city life (have some friends from there, always found it funny that it's the only location in the UK to have a Denny's)

Such a small world. I used to live on Bryn-Y-Mor Road when I was a student at Swansea.... only 15ish years ago!
I feel like in countries where they ban guns you shouldn't be able to have access to them unless you have a lathe and a mill to make them. Would make it a bit interesting in my opinion.
Very few countries have banned guns entirely.
Even assuming that the government didn't distribute guns to people, there'd still be military stockpiles (which would doubtless be moved into cities given they would use soldiers to slow the spread) and local police forces with guns (possibly SWAT operations?), not to mention people who do have guns.
Reduced access. I mean, the can surely work out where police stations are when they’re marked on G maps and import that? Sure, it’s a little unrealistic for every police station in the UK to have an armed car, but it’s a game…

what would be cool would be if you could play a real 3d open world zombie apocalypse game like dead island type thing or dayz but be SO open world like this game that you can literally go anywhere in the world with all the exact buildings etc.. imagine playing a game that had infinite choices and you can be like that guy in THE LAST MAN ON EARTH and go anywhere you like.. maybe live in Bill Murrays house.. or go to Tucson.. or Sanctuary near Boston etc

I played my first game in my house. 😂 then moved about my city. Last game I was very successful setting up just outside Central Park in New York City. Tearing down massive skyscrapers for resources and erecting walls and equipping towers with high powered sniper rifles.
So random but if you see this, my mum lived 3 minutes away from you (Matt) during your first year.
