What money was taken from SS? From the web: "No, Congress has not stolen money from Social Security:
Social Security Act of 1935: Requires excess cash to be invested in interest-bearing bonds backed by the U.S. government.
Government borrowing: The federal government borrows money from Social Security to fund its operations, similar to how consumers and businesses use money deposited in a bank. The government pays interest on the amount borrowed.
Repayment: The government has repaid every previous bond maturity in full."

Explain to me that they take your last three quarters from your work but I was on FMLA cuz my mother had cancer and I had to take care of her. when I got back to work they had given my job to someone else now it's making $ 17 an hour but when I went on FMLA all the workers that worked with me gave one of their days off so I was bringing in a check of about $250 a week while I was on FMLA so I guess they based my Social Security on that! This bill gives them social security. It only gives social security to government employees who are already collecting government pensions. Many of them have never paid into social security. If you want increased benefits? We need to pass a bill that only those who met the minimum social security payments can collect social security.
This bill just like supplemental social security gives benefits to people who never earned it.

Im a disabled father of 2 living in Arizona and I became disabled in 2019. I've never seen an increase because every time they do increase it by a fraction, Medicare goes up. I'm making $476 less now in 2024 than I was in 2019. My rent right now is $200 more than my actual SSI benefit payment. Went from paying $1,000 to $1700 in a single month(we have to move). Went from paying $20 a week for gas to $100 a week. Groceries went from $671 a month to $300-$400 a week!! EVERYTHING has gone up well over 100%, yet they slap is with 2.5% increase. It's absolutely PATHETIC and disgusting!! I can't help that I'm disabled now but I paid into it for 35 years and I'm getting 💩 back.

I'm sorry about your situation. Depending on what your disability allows, maybe you could do something for cash/at home, like voice-over books, child-mind, data-entry or label or package things or some other small task for a local business. Even collecting return-for-refund bottles (maybe get your kids involved?).
Once you make a little bit extra money--while I know his may sound undoable--if you buy even one 1-ounce coin of silver a month ($28) or save the same amount for 3 months and buy a 1-gram gold coin (Canadian Maple is best at 99.9% pure gold, American Eagle 2nd due to 91% gold content) after a year or two, you will likely have made more than inflation (esp. with gold). If necessary, you can sell it or keep it for emergencies. I know it sounds difficult, but precious metals usually protect the holder's buying power--much better than putting any extra $ in the bank at 3 or 4%.

Consider: Since 1980, defense spending has risen by 62%, climbing from $506 billion to $820 billion by 2023, after adjusting for inflation. In 2023, the US military spent approximately $820.3 billion, or roughly 13.3% of the entire federal budget for that fiscal year. The US outspends on military as much as the next ten countries.

Now SSI is just a smaller part of out income every month. Why? because we did not ever think the government had the duty to take care of us, that responsibility was ours not theirs.
Sorry you did not take your retirement seriously and take responsibility for yourself. Too late for you. You should tell every young fool like you to not be like you and shirk responsibility for your own retirement income.
Best advice for you now? start a crafts type business for extra income. I am doing that just to keep busy and afford toys and not have to take my retirement income to pay for them.

So, I went to the social security office filled out a form to stop Medicare from taking the money out of my check every month putting it back onto my check every month. You should do the same. To stop Medicare premiums from being deducted from your Social Security check, you need to fill out Form CMS-1763, which is called "Request for Termination of Premium Hospital Insurance or Supplementary Medical Insurance" and submit it to your local Social Security office; this form allows you to cancel either Part A or Part B of Medicare, depending on your situation. I would go to the office to do it because it's quicker. I did it and got the money back on my check the very same month.

Why not just tax ALL income and not let bilionaries just pay on first 150G? fyi, if ALL INCOME paid SS taxes there would be a trillion a yr surplus and SS payments could double, or quadruple. MOST of this would come from taxes the rich don't pay, they only pay on first 150, Elons extra 50 billion a yr bonus, NO SS TAXES and there are 1,000's of billionaires doing the same. US aid to other countries isn't even a sliver on any pie chart showing federal budget. We used to give more, essentially buying the UN votes of tiny countries by letting their president have a nice and well staffed house and office. Now Russia and China buy these votes blocking international sanctions that would reigin in Putin's who torture and kill 100,000's anyplace they want to take over.
