That dude blamed boba shops. LOL Thats how clueless these people are.
He might have just as well blamed energy drinks.
Lol he’s not clueless. He’s deliberately deceitful to help cover up the unflattering truth as if the public doesn’t know already. If he wants to be helpful to all stores & restaurants in the financial district, he needs to face the truth of the real threats hurting businesses (ie reduced office spaces, increased retail theft and car burglaries, increased homelessness, and increased public drug use).
Liberal progressives will blame everyone but themselves for the messes that they create.

Support local businesses.
I'm shocked they stayed this long 😔

Wake up and look around
You telling me a $104 billion company is blaming mom & pop boba shops for closures?! 🤣 We all know it's the crime and your $9 "coffee" drinks
Boba Shops are not exactly mom & pop, they appear like they are but they're not. All the bubble shops in the east coast (i'm from the tri-state), are all a part of several massive chains. The only exception I have seen so far are bakery shops that also sell bubble which is not exactly a bubble shop. It's definitely not the price, it's definitely the spending habit of Asian that's also hurting Starbucks, probably not just in SF. There are a lot of bubble shops opening nearby Starbucls in recent years, there is a decent size Asian-American base of Starbuck customers who are just buying what's expensive for sake of being expensive, and they might like bubble tea more. I think I'm the only Asian-American I personally know of that drinks McDonald $1 coffee. lol.
@@Steven-xf8mz I love Mc Donald's coffee, or better yet, home brewed. I refuse to pay Starbuck's ridiculous prices.
@@justiceforall007 Yeah, Starbucks are more like a treat where I have to get something to chill when out with friends. Most shopping district and/or big malls don't have McDonald's. lol. For home, i have a Breville bambino due to remote working, i need something heavier than drip.

Because they KNOW its crazy, they just dont care...their kids go to private schools, they shop at closed locations, their feet never have to grace the same places that the rest of us do...their lives are completely carpeted by common sense while ours are held hostage every day thanks to their policies.
Blue no matter who! Migrants matter!
Don't forget back in the mid 2000s Starbucks closed a ton of stores in downtown. Why? Because they had LITERALLY a handful of stores that were across the street from each other. At one point in time there was 3 Starbucks within 1 block.
I remember the old joke from some years back that a Starbucks opened up a new store inside a Starbucks.
I have 5 Starbucks within a ten-minute walk from my apartment and they are always crowded.
"A Starbucks just opened up in my pants." George Carlin
There still is at 5th & Mission.
Starbuck is overhyped product. Finally senses catch to people.
My friend who worked in SF downtown area 5 years ago told me that these locations used to be high foot traffic hot spots.
They were nice hangout place for breaks and meetings. During holiday seasons, some stores got super busy all day long.
“It’s not the crime, more people are just ordering their lattes on Amazon”
Surprised they waited this long and only closed 7 in that city
Thank the progressive district attorneys

The red states or republican states are some of the most poverty stricken and impoverished in the nation. Some of them are worst than some cities in 3rd world countries. Mississippi, Alabama, West virginia. Louisiana, Kentucky, I could go on and on. Those states also have some of the most homicide and gun related deaths in the nation. I don't know why you had to politicize it. But since you took that route, I had to provide you some facts. And keep in mind, that high taxes from CA and other blue states, goes to SUBSIDIZE a lot of those poor republican red states. Without our help, they won't sustain themselves. Now go do your research.

All the stores (and even the giants stadium) are moving to San Jose / Santa Clara...SF looks like a shell of its former self. IF you even dare to walk through its downtown area you will see it no longer looks like the magical place it once was 20 years ago. All the rich people are going to valley fair and stevens creek and thumbing their noses at SF
Starbucks still being woke as they are and not telling the people why they are really closing.
@@GimlinPatter It's about the crime and the tight closing of businesses during covid. You reap what you sow. SF will never be what it used to be. I predicted it 10 yrs ago. Vote blue, have no clue.
Starbucks didn’t give an official reason. They said each year they reevaluate stores and make decisions then.
The Boba line was an opinion of someone on the street. But it’s obvious, as more businesses leave San Francisco, Starbucks has less foot traffic.
So while Starbucks reason may not be crime, the trickle down effect of other businesses leaving because of crime.
Also I don’t get the whole left and right politics thing. The poorest states in the country tend to be red states.
The blue states tend to be the anchors and what happens in them usually trickles down to everywhere else.
But with that said, I do think the Democrats have made everything worse. Trump was already tanking the economy and flooding the country with immigrants and sending billions overseas for various conflicts doesn’t seem the way to go.
@@noahknight4039 Starbucks is woke they are not going to say that they are closing due to bad policies they support. Exactly what do you mean by poor? California and New York have big debts. They are also where big companies are. So what happened to Democrats being anti corporations?
Still waiting on how you could enlighten us...
Starbucks is woke ? Lol
I don’t think it’s closing because of other drinks. Milk tea and coffee are 2 different types of drinks. I’m sure they not closing because of crime and all the homeless people 😂
For real, when i want coffee i dont go to no boba place
They are closing because of basketball season
I really hope all of these closures result in a real estate reset; what these corporate landlords want to charge for commercial and residential leases is truly delusional.
It's not delusional when these business & residential morons are dumb enough to pay those outrageous rates.
I believe that’s part of the reason this is allowed to happen. Drive property values down and the mega rich can swoop in and buy it cheap, then sweep out the trash.
@TheoneGodfather ??? The mega rich caused this in the first place. Who was buying this stuff. It’s basic enforcement of the law. SF wasn’t always owned by the mega rich.
that would be fine but the city is already over the cliff and would require a military presence for years and tons of red state money thieving to recover
Oh don't worry real estate prices are going to drop like a brick.

Mostly it’s the work at home situation that resulted in less foot traffic downtown.
I live in Honolulu and work in the downtown area. We used to have 3 Starbucks locations in very close proximity to each other but post-pandemic changed that and we are now down to one!
Hmmm, what a pandemic.
"Each year as a standard course of business, we evaluate the store portfolio to determine where we can best meet our community and customers' needs."
Man, if that isn't some corporate doublespeak bs right there, I don't know what is. Why not just say "the stores aren't profitable so they're being closed"? Why be so cryptic?
Should replace these 7 locations with bars.
Always support local coffee shops. Never Starbucks.
Seriously boba? At least blame the fierce competition like Blue Bottle, Philz Coffee or other smaller shops..
its the competition from crime nothing else
San Francisco is still in the top 3 cities in the country for number of coffee shops per capita.
That's because people are fleeing the h*llhole thus maintaining the ratio....
That just shows how addicted to caffeine people are.
Also most mental people per capita🤣🤷🤡
Obviously, the out of control crime is not driving customers away from the area. In fact, what crime…why did I even say that? SF is perfectly safe!!! Nothing to see here! It’s just a business strategy to keep up with the change of people’s desire to congregate elsewhere or stay home for some reason.

The guy who called out Boba shops didn't work for Starbucks, he worked for the Fillmore/West Portal Merchants Association. This guy needs media training, what a wild statement to say to a TV audience of millions of people. Also, all these Starbucks shops that are going to close are in the Financial District. With the exception of Boba in Union Square and shops in Chinatown, there arent any Boba shops in the Financial District... Lets be real, Starbucks is closing these shops because of a large decrease in foot traffic and crime/homelessness in the area
Oh no, how are the "coffee" enthusiasts going to get their "coffee" now?
It's my own personal belief that the financial district is on way too much coffee anyways...
No businesses are ever going in that area 😮 It's trouble 😢
I hope all stores close. Maybe if that happens politicians will rethink how stupid it is to be soft on crimes.
-At hundreds of dollars a cup, it's no loss-
This is bigger than Target closures because Target is easier to replace (e.g., Amazon) but Starbucks is not (bc peole who drink Starbucks regularly do not like to drink other brands)
And now, they probably still have 15+ Starbucks throughout all of SF lol
I don’t know a single person in SF who goes to Starbucks. There are so many local roasters.
That’s what happens when you proclaim, “Everyone is a customer!” welcoming bums to come in, abuse the restrooms, ask for cups of water, and sit on the chairs.
Should open more book stores because criminals don't like to read, lol.
Customers are moving away from $6 milkshakes and into boba and bubble teas... the Oleato and Coldbrew investments were expensive busts.... Coffee culture just isn't what it was 20 years ago... they were oversaturated
LOL. Blame Boba Tea?! Now I've heard it all.
The main and Mission Street location was located in the East Cut neighborhood. Not the Financial District.
The Starbucks on mission and main has 3 more Starbucks and several coffee shops within a 2 block radius.
But they'll still leave the doors unlocked so that people can use the restrooms, right? lol
lol. All they have to do is to put up BLM signs and the stores will be respected and protected. I remember the good old days when they and Amazon proclaimed their support for BLM on the first day of the riot.
I’m happy I visited San Fran 10 years ago. I can say I went and never step foot in that city again.
I lost count of the number of times I walked into someone taking a homeless shower in their restrooms (they use the faucet). And that was before the pandemic. Surprised they lasted this long.
What do you mean 45 locations are too many?
Here is a secret, many gas stations like Loop sell freshly grind coffee for 1.50 if u bring in ur mug. That's way better deal than Starbucks.
I don’t go San Francisco for work or anything
Not enough. How about the remaining 300 stores?
Just went there and didn t get it why it got closed
I'm amazed that any Starbucks are left in SF now. They should close them all!
Couldn't find a Starbucks in SF with tables to sit down. All were removed to keep the homeless out.
What’s the big deal Starbucks is closing!!! Starbucks closed lots of mom and pops coffee shops! There’s to many of them’
Now it’s revenge time for local coffee chains and mom pop shops.
now it will be insanity, the rich will go crazy with no caffeine
Shut them all down ! get as far away from that open sewer as you can !
There are still over 50 Starbucks in the city of San Francisco. That's plenty for a city that's relatively small geographically. Over one per square mile. Nobody will go thirsty.
When I was there on holiday there was a Starbucks on nearly every corner 27 ?? in total.
I guess that means the financial district will only have one every 3 blocks now.
if they target avocado toast the hipsters might actually get mad
Boba shops have zero to do with a Starbucks closing. You can put a boba shop and Starbucks right next to each and it wouldn’t effect the business to either. In Burlingame, there are several boba shops close by a Starbucks and Peet’s and they’re both always busy. It’s the lack of foot traffic that is causing these Starbucks to close. Before the pandemic, walking through the financial district during peak times was crazy. Every single Starbucks in the area was packed. They needed one on every other block. Now with these people working mainly remote, the foot traffic is gone. It’s like a ghost town at a time when it use to be hectic.
If the city wants to bring back those days, they need to bring back the people. Go to these large companies and offer them tax incentives for bringing their workers back into the office full time. That would help out local stores and restaurants, which is revenue for the city.
Newsom raised the minimum wage on stores/businesses that are closing.
you didn't watch this video I guess. Shifting beverage market. Starbucks is opening locations elsewhere in the city.
My wife and I used to go every morning before work. But when they went woke NOPE NO MORE we take our money elsewhere period!
Where will all the homeless go now for showers?
I have a friend that works a Starbucks in a metro area. They told me that cleaning the areas outside the stores and inside the restrooms are dangerous. Drug users leave used needles and trash everywhere. Some will even lock themselves inside so they can 'clean' themselves or use drugs. Blaming boba shops for Starbucks closing...lmao. I could say so many things, but I think this guy is a racist...lol.
Yep
and how is this a bad thing?
These poor people have no idea what's going on in the world.
There is a big trend of quiting caffein.
At least a few of the SAFEWAY stores in the San Francisco area (which is the birthplace of the Safeway chain) have a Starbucks inside... just letting anyone know who might be affected by these closures!
Don't call it a food desert, call it a TURD-TOPIA, it's more accurate.
Business is down. Entrepreneurs should take advantage of opening neighborhood coffee shops.
Not in such a crime infested city. Buy cheap, open in future when they actually have balls to fix their city’s crime and woke agendas.
Maybe they'll start addressing the problems since businesses are leaving.
And many customers are happy that small businesses could move in instead
