In Thai language, when we encounter new words, especially from English, Thai people usually say those new words, based on English pronunciation . So words based on English pronunciation are so common in Thai languge. Sometimes when new words are officially coined in Thai, we still feel strange to use them. We turn out to use words based on English pronunciation.
In Thailand, the situation is getting better now, but I am still afraid of the aftershock of the virus. I wish Jay and Vicki and all of us healthy and safe during the Covid-19 spread. Please make a lot of fantastic video like you have been doing so far more. I really love them. ❤️

Interestingly, the new expressions now coming with Covid-19 in Portuguese are quite the same you mentioned. For instance, EEP (EPI in Portuguese) was a typical working-world expression and it’s now been used everywhere. The original word ‘lockdown’ is also used in Brazil. Fique em casa! Saúde!
