    Where were these tools when I started with IT way back when. Love the PSU tester

      I say that all the time. I'll bet I could have saved half the stuff I threw out.

    IT would be nice to find a simple tester for the power supply under load

      I agree. I wind up hooking up hard drives to the other molex's but it's not the same.

    At 5:45 you have the card inserted incorrectly which most of the time will cause a short! Check the card where is says "rear". That should point to the back of the main board where the e.g. keyboard plug is positioned.

      You're absolutely right. I figured this out because I always work on these things with the slots facing me so "back" is front and front is back. On most of these cards I finally put a bracket or something else to prevent this.

    I have a question about the debug card with the golden pcb at 5:00
    Is it possible to use this card in a M.2 SSD interface on a desktop?

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  Год назад +1

      I don't think so. I think it's mini pci-e only...but I could be wrong.

      @@AnotherMaker Thanks for the reply.
      It's a shame that they don't make them for that port since new motherboards that come with a debug led are pretty expensive.
      And most mobo's these days come with extra M.2 slots and if slotted there you would be able to read it.

    I've looked into POST cards recently and there isn't really a use case for them. For technical reasons they don't really work on PCIe, and PCI slots disappeared 10 years or more ago. You can find them that plug into TPM the connector but with that being required hardware under win11 we can expect it to be come a built in chipset feature very soon. The required bus just isn't exposed anywhere on modern PCs.
    Of course maybe this is retro channel, Haven't watched you before.

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  Год назад

      I primarily do use them on retro computers. I do have PCI Express ones for laptops although I haven't particularly needed those yet.

    I bought the PCI diagnostic card 10 years ago , it was useless , the manual written in poor English , I trashed it

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  7 месяцев назад

      I normally just google the codes. It's REALLY good at testing voltages and figuring out if your pc dies in the middle of the boot process. I wouldn't call it useless.
