To add to this great presentation: the serratus anterior can aid inspirationally by elevating the ribs it is attached to by rotating the shoulder blades outwards (which equals a widely expanded ribcage) which is important for esp. classical singers to sustain the neurological (therefore mechanical) pattern associated with physiological vocal function. Cheers.
Great instruction coordinated precisely with the visuals! Looking forward to see more videos by this great expert. The true teaching talent is to make a complex concept to appear very simple.
This is great in helping people outside medical fields to get familiar with their body. I often feel exhausted on the sternum area. I feel sleepy, hard to expand chest and feel difficult to breath when it happens. My heart and lungs had no problem after extensive tests. No doctor gave me a clue. It may be some inflammation on the bone, ligament, muscles in that area.
Really nice videos! Thanks for all of them! I spoted a little mistake in this one: The internal intercostal muscles DO HAVE an internal intercostal MEMBRANE as the external intercostal muscles do. But the internal intercostal membrane attaches to the vertebral column (because the run in the opposite direction)
Eerie almost to leave an anatomy lecture on the muscles of the thoracic wall, check RUclips and see this very video in the subscription box. Excellent work as ever Sir! Are you a student?
Lovely! But let's not forget the mighty little interchondral part of the internal intercostal muscles that assist in Inhalation. They're crucial for maintaining a singer's noble sternum while singing ;)
I see your marking for intercostalis intimi shows extension till sternum but i believe it is only located in middle 2/4th of intercostal space. The anterior part is contained by Sternocostalis .
thanks - lot's more to come - just working on getting them all edited now! :)
Please those subtitles hide the diagram make them a bit lower... Overall Every thing is superb
