In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

There's such a gentleness to Julian's delivery, that he can be really quite bitchy and it's still soothing.

The incredulous and amused "No." after Alex called his beard strawberry blond got me right down to the marrow of my funny bone, the neighbours probably heard a shriek.
Withering ... just absolutely witheringly dry. I actually don't think Alex *was* grey before that
"Strawberry...nooo..." but it hit so hard that it immediately produced greys that echoed back in time.

I definitely remember him being over the top and somewhat hyper. I'm on board with the possible recent stroke idea. He is very mellow like Paul Sinha was. Just saying.
He's always clawing his way to the comedy remark.

@@kisbie Jack Dee would be really interesting on this show. He allows himself to break character, on occasion, and sometimes doesn't worry about his "comic character". But ultimately, his "comic character" might be of the attitude of CBF to even bother going on the show. :-) I do like Jack Dee, and thought he was a great replacement for Humph on ISIHAC...noting that no-one could actually replace Humph.
I still can't believe Julian Clary is on Taskmaster and can't wait to see it.
I wish this series started yesterday! I am dying to watch. Julian’s parting line of, “Good luck to you and your family.” Felt almost like a premonition of impending doom! Made me laugh out loud!

Sound is so low in this video and then the outro hits you like a freight train. Boy am i ready for a new season, just one of my favourite shows in all time.

As a fellow of a certain age seeing our Julian on telly being this sassy and spiky is making me a very happy boy.
The only problem I have with these interviews is I often want Greg’s reaction to them. 😂 This was great!
I think these interviews before the first episode always hint at how good it's going to be. I think this series is going to be bloody brilliant!
I thought the interview would be fun but the non-stop digs at Alex, and the picture, were brilliant.

Julian is so fearless and funny and he plays to win, while looking completely low key. I can't wait to see him do the tasks, and take the TaskMaster on at his own game.

Julian is the Frank Skinner of this series. There’s usually one. Part of the comedy establishment. Been famous since the 90s. (Late 80s in Julian’s case.) Nothing to prove anymore. Just chilled to be offered the gig and comfortably, reliably hilarious. The one who Greg will tease for being ‘old’ at least twice an episode.

Having seen all the other interviews where people just accept that they have to do what Alex asks, it's even funnier that Julian refuses to change to portrait.

I’m an Aussie so ahead of this series I’m mostly excited for Sam. I do know who Sue and Lucy are, but kept hearing the British fans really excited about Julian but I had literally no concept of who he was. Seeing this makes me understand the hype. Subtle genius

he reminds me of a quiet guy in a cabin in a horror movie that the protagonists use as shelter and he makes them tea, then they find out he's actually really evil

As usual as a Canadian I'm unfamiliar with Julian, but I've never warmed to someone so quickly! The crackle of Bridget Christie-like chemistry/tension with Alex delivered from the mellow demeanor of Alan Davies, he might be the People's champ for this season!

I haven't seen Julian in decades. He has aged very well.
He was on one episode of WILTY along with Ronnie Corbett...which I just discovered was in 2010! Earlier this year, he gave a lovely address in honour of the late Paul O'Grady.
