      Just got a Vinca plant given for Mother's day with a couple of flowers on it, a small glass container, when should I water it and transfer to a large pot?

    watched a lot of videos..;still going through them...gr8 series..
    . is there a reason to first seed in flats and then transplant to 6 packs?.. isn't it better on the roots to directly plant them in the 6 packs and let them get the true leaves?

      +ankita urala two things Vinca hates is too wet and too cold.. eliminating these too factors you will have success ...

    What kind of fertilizer that to be used for vinca and how and when to apply?

    • @dianemummvideos
      @dianemummvideos  4 года назад +1

      Hi, I fertilize my plants after transplanted.. at least - 2-4 leaves.. Vinca has a tendency to yellow if low on iron.. so get a fertilizer that contains some iron.. I don't recall the name of the fertilizer I used years ago.. but here is some info for you: Fertilizers that are high in iron include iron sulfates, chelated iron, iron supplements, blood meal, compost, and manure. Some of these will affect soil pH, so keep this in mind when you apply them, and get a soil test before doing so.

    How long do you leave the sprouts under cover of darkness before you put them under lights?..They are just starting to sproat but I still kept them covered.

    • @dianemummvideos
      @dianemummvideos  3 года назад

      Hi Sue, it varies.. If I see many germinating I put under lights, if just a few I wait a day or more .. Usually many will germinate anyway once you move them under lighting provided they have moisture..

    you can.. I am growing for my business.. easier to bulk seed this way then transplant out. at least worked good for me..I never had root problems , just let them rest a day and they are fine..

    How old is too old to transplant vincs? I just added them to a wall sconce. They were huge and overwhelming in the pot I took them out of. It's AUGUST, hot out, but not in direct sun

    Your video is very informative and interesting. Thank you for the information. Can you suggest a form of iron for my vincas? I normally use a 20-20-20 fertilizer. Can molasses work?

    My vincas are about to weeks old smaller then yours in the video but they are really close together. Can I use some tweezers and go ahead and transplant them into some styrofoam cups

    my vince is just started to sprout --yhey have been in the dark -- question how much longer in the dark -- they are in 6 pack when should i thin them-- when to transplant to my beds

    • @dianemummvideos

      until they germinate, you can transplant after they have their first true leaves.. Plant outside when your temp at night and day is above 60 degrees... they love heat!

      How long does it typically take to get their first true leaves? I have about 6 flats of seedlings all doing well they just seem to be taking forever to get those true leaves

  • @dianemummvideos
    @dianemummvideos  12 лет назад

    must stay above 50 degrees, 60 would be better yet..
