- Hot Rod Madness finds a one owner 1958 Plymouth Fury at the Tucker Georgia Cruise In. It is in immaculate condition.
Thankfully it wasn't Christine.
It's Moparornocar for it's owner William !
Give that guy an award for his commitment. So rare today
The 57-58 Fury is an absolutely gorgeous car. It's too bad they had the build quality and rust issues they had
God bless this guy! GORGEOUS car and it's so cool that when everyone turned their backs on big fins and flash around '62, he stayed with it. Even during the bleak early '70s years when these cars were being destroyed in Motorama shows and thrown in junk yards, he kept his and kept it well. SO LUCKY he had all these years with the most beautiful car ever built. Thanks for posting!
My dad bought a new 58 Fury when I was 11 years old. it was the 350 Golden Commando with torque flite and limited slip. I loved that car and it was awesome fast. I rode in it at well over 100mph. My mom used to love to hot rod that thing and put glass pack mufflers on it. Unfortunately they only kept it for 2 years because of gas mileage. Gas was only about .20/gal! He ended up trading it in for a 60 Plymouth station wagon with a 6 cyl and 3 speed on the column. What a dog! I have missed that car for for over 60 years.
I love the car. Absolutely beautiful. I few fact corrections through. It was a 350 not 340, and did not have an overhead cam. But all that is not important. It's an amazing car. Thanks for the nice video.
Mike Petroff hi. Thanks for your comment. When I heard " overhead cam " I literally thought I had misheard and backed video up twice!! Then I thought...well I'll be...OHC in 1958?!? Now I've heard everything LOL. Thanks for the correction. Now I can sleep knowing that I'm not delusional or hallucinating LOL.
Yeah, 340 didn't come out for over another decade, It was 350, It was the first in the 361 383 and 413 Family
I think he meant overhead valve. in his day, flat heads were common.
Thanks for the corrections sir.
Beautiful car and we'll preserved
THIS is rare, original, and beautiful. Unlike these played out Christine clones.
Same, my grandpa has owned his sense he bought it brand new it was of the show room floor it’s the same colors too.
I like a few old American Muscle cars, but this one always makes me drool, what a Beautiful Car.
Great story - I wish him the best with his Plymouth. My dad bought a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door canary yellow and white top and the motor went after only about 20,000 miles due to oil circulation problems. He had the motor rebuilt . Also, rusted out at the headlight area and he purchased head light partial replacement pieces and had them welded on. My dad painted the car himself too. Push button transmission and sometimes the buttons would stick in and you would need a screw driver to release. They were fast cars too with the V-8 and automatic transmissions. Great looking cars but, he always said it was the worst car he owned. I think cost was $2700 new. Thanks for sharing your story!
Hey Tony. That must have been quite expensive back in '57.
@@brianmbanga7306I remember my dad had it pulled and rebuilt by a friend he worked with that could fix all cars back then. He was a master mechanic in the tool shop too. I think it was less than $250 in 1961 and the friend let him drive his 1957 Desoto for a week til the Plymouth was repaired. People really helped people out back then. Most house holds only had (1) car. Ran great after the rebuild too. He kept the 57 Plymouth til 1965 and sold it for $200. Take care!
@@tonytrotta9322 seems to be about how long people keep cars today.
I had one of these, loved it. The engine displacement of the engine was 350 cubic inches. The only thing it would not pass was a gas station.
He's been through hell and back with Christine 🤣
Beautiful car! Bravo to him for keeping it all these years. I received a bin full of die cast models from a friend whose husband passed away recently and a '58 Fury like that is part of the collection. It's a keeper!
Like your car, My dad and uncle owned a chrysler dealership from 1956 to 1996. I was a lot boy, dad gave me a 58 2 dr plymouth fury with a push button cast iron torkflite trans 392 hemi and 2carter 4bbls. Experimental. same color as yours. Haven't driven it since 1982. Liked your video,
I had one just like this in southern California in 1968. Golden Commando 350-V8, Torqueflite, dual quads. An Amazing car!
if i remember the scene in christine where you see the production line...all them cars were in this colour man and then christine was like a beautiful red...
The reason Christine was red was because of who she was a " Fury".
All the other ones in line, they were her mellow relatives.😁
You're a very lucky man William and you have excellent taste in cars.
Wow! That is my dream car. I'd take that anyday over any car produced nowadays....... absolutely beautiful🔥🇺🇸🏴☠️
Unreal that he still owns this. Very nice. I’m very much impressed.
My all time favourite US Auto ! Respect to the owner of this beautiful example !
1958 was the year I was born. I absolutely love this car. I've always been big on Plymouth.
Ultra rare compared old chevy shoeboxes. Christine's nice sister
Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic car, owner, and story! Enjoyed this interview.
Only two v8s available were 290 horse 318 poly or the 350 Golden Commando with 305 horsepower.
So beautiful....automobile *ART!* : )
Absolutely beautiful classic car, Wow.
What an absolutely drop dead gorgeous mouth-wateringly sexlicious car. The stuff dreams are made of. Pure art and history and history on 4 wheels. Extremely enviable car. I'm really happy for this gentleman. I literally pray that when this fine senior goes to his rest that this elegant beauty will wind up in the hands of someone who understands what this car is and treat her like the gem that she is.
The owner mis-spoke. Its a 305 horsepower 350 cubic inch engine with dual quads...not a 340. The base engine was a 290 horsepower 318 with dual quads. Awesome ride
Sounds like it was going to correct himself and say 350, but he got mixed up it seems. Besides, by looking at his t-shirt, I'm presuming he was born in 1937, making him 81-82 years old. The fact he can remember things from 60+ years ago is awesome in itself!
in canada, plymouth had dodge clones, with dodges having the same plymouth body, interior and talights, built in the same windsor, ont. plant.
That’s my dream car right there I wish I could buy that from the person I love Christine 1958 Plymouth fury V
The Plymouth Fury and Belvedere, were also called the Dodge Mayfair, a rebadged Plymouth, a Plymodge and not a U.S Dodge.
Beautiful car!
Fantastic car. I'd walk around a '57 Chevy to look inside that Beauty.
Christine made this car show up otherwise nobody was looking at it in 1958 🙂
Damn... beautiful car.. i got a Rambler Ambassador 59'..
Did they ever made right hand drive american cars those years,as i stay in South Africa.
According to the legend
Christine is still looking for the shitters!
Some might doubt the 150 mph figure, don't! My grandfather had one and he swore that it would and he raced it at the drag strip.
Christine was a great movie sad they had to destroy that many cars for it💔
They didn't destroy 43 cars, if I remember correctly it destroyed 26 in total. They were pieces of Belvedere's, plazas, and Savoy's that they cut up to recreate a fury. If I'm not mistaken also, they only use two actual furies for the movie.
Where do the lights on that car come on?
Probably the headlights...
"Brand new, she was...only had 6 miles on the odometer..."
Is it me or does the 58 fury’s kinda look like they have a moustache?
Ronald Lee Bey and his Christine
150 mph? Was that possible in those cars without a death wish?
Beautiful car but that’s a 361 very cool though it’s a big block not a 318 poly beautiful car
What could be better...
What is this guys name? Roland? Lol
I drove one it would just come alive after 80 miles and hour the engine would just blow away super cars of the 1968 on the interstate.
Fynally a fury in its original color 😂
love this car, what a part of American history !!1
