  • This is a start to finish demonstration of just one of the ways one can sketch and paint a face. I'm an artist with an advertising illustration background, so I'm used to drawing faces for advertising products.. But over the years I started to want to express myself in acrylic paint on canvas, so I have made many abstract figure paintings of mostly women. It's endlessly fascinating what one can do with different paint applications. For purchases, check out my website, www.allenwittert.com for your art collection journey.

I feel Jpy watching your creation. Every one of us is a character. Thank you very much.

I’m sure your following is going to bloom, Allen. You have considerable skills! I would like to develop such freedom. I also appreciate that you have interesting music/always something different there, too.

I love this! I find myself laboring for far too long when it comes to painting and drawing faces in particular. I work at it to try to make it look as realistic as possible. Btw what kind of pen are you using to draw the sketch? It looks like a Tombow but I'm not sure since it doesn't seem to run.

Thank you for your comments. Yes it’s a Tombow, a little dry so that helps it not bleed too much. Also when I draw on a good watercolor paper, it won’t run as much as on a smooth surface. But the idea is to use more paint less water, in parts, and you can always draw over it when dry. Really just practice. Tombow is just convenient but it can lead to muddy finishes so you need to work over it and sometimes scrub that paint in.
