  • We had the worst Airbnb experience ever! A real-life nightmare of a time trying to find a place to stay in London England. In this video we talk about our back-to-back Airbnb horror stories and how Airbnb handled the situation when we reached out to them. For the most part we love Airbnb, but this experience made us look at everything, a little differently from now on.

    A little bit more about us:
    We're Anna (23) and Steven (25) , a young couple and young parents living in Canada. Our sweet baby boy Rhys entered our life on March 31, 2017. We are high school sweethearts (started dating in 2010) and now we're engaged and planning to get married Summer 2018. We love spending time with our family, being parents and travelling! Our channel started as a place to document our travels and since becoming a family of three we've started documenting our life on here. What a horrible experience ! You two are so nice, I'd still be stressed out and upset. Airbnb has horrible customer service, as a one time host I was never able to get in touch with with anyone if there was a problem. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.

    I really feel for you and your family. Air BNB seems really inconsistent. I booked an apartment in Lisbon. Two weeks before I was due to leave, the host messaged me and said he decided to sell the building. Air BNB not only refunded my full payment to my credit card but they also gave me a $60 credit for my next rental. Pretty convinced it depends on who you talk with (the luck of the draw - you would rather speak to a CSR whose been there 3 yrs and knows all the in's and out's of the system rather than someone whose been with Abnb for 3 days). It also behooves everyone to speak to ANY CSR with the utmost respect regardless of your frustration , anger level. May unlock some secret doors. (General advice - not saying you didn't!)

      They changed over the years, they have improved customer service, but before was sort of inconsistent and a hassle. Then some hotels are as well when it come to last minute.

    Anna and Steven, ignore all of the stupid negative comments. Thank you for sharing your story and informing the rest of us that these things actually do happen. The round-a-bout scenario will likely show up in some comedy movie. Hilarious!!!
    I hope you gave the appropriate feedback to the AirBnB owners and AirBnB. I would like to know if you were able to resolve the situation to your satisfaction? Any hind-sight recommendations you can give us should this happen to us?

      Not really no because when you rent an Airbnb you can get an entire house for lots of people with a proper kitchen etc you can’t always get that with hotels plus in London they can be expensive and they were travelling as quite a large group. They had everything planned out it was supposed to be simple but they got messed around unfortunately.

    Thanks for sharing, we also had a very bad experience with AirBNB in Brussels. The place was very filthy and smelly with dog odor. We stayed one night instead of five then moved to a hotel. The host was willing to refund us only for 1 night (about $100 per night). I think AirBNB did a very bad job of not taking care of guests properly. Uber did a good job when I was scammed with a Uber driver in Brussels. Uber punished the driver by refunding me more than the extra charge taking the drive 3 times longer that he should have. I can't wait for another company to compete with AirBNB.

    My father would cancel the trip if something similar has happened. he isn't patent. will never try Airbnb ever. Also, renting a car can get you into problems. I rented a car in Turkey fully insured. I had some oil leaking. I returned the car and got another one. After returning home I noticed $4200 missing from my bank account. After checking with the bank, I knew that AVIA charged me all that money. They said that the engine broke and it's not covered by the insurance. I feel bad not being able to get my money back

  • @Angelasun43

    As an Airbnb host in a beach town, I'm surprised by your experience. Airbnb is extremely transparent in terms of reviews and authenticity. I tried getting a poor review taken down (the guest was upset because I asked her to pay the deposit for leaving vomit on the bed) and they would not take any review down unless it violated content policy. Also any host that cancels more than twice in 6 months gets fined. And certain statuses get taken away that help hosts get booked more often. I actually also had a not nice experience booking as a guest in London but I know the condo wasn't nice or glamorous due to reviews

    Great to know, I was on the host forum and all they were doing was complaining about renters and Airbnb policies. Careful everyone, there was some shady stuff going on with registering in foreign countries. Some guy didn't know and the host were lying just to get the rental. He was going to layover somewhere but when he got to airport they informed him he didn't register with police when he came through before. They ask him to immediately book a flight home on his dime and to leave the country. Needless to say he did and it cost him because no one wants to be detained for being illegally lodging in any foreign place...what!

    • @LucienSabre

      Amy Chen I can barely listen to your BS. The music is just in the intro and lasts literally 20 seconds, the rest is just their voices - which are completely hearable.
      Maybe next time watch the whole video, you’ll avoid posting idiotic comments.

    • @sweetlilbubble
      @sweetlilbubble 4 года назад

      LucienSabre Why so aggressive. I didn’t bash their video. That was a constructive feed back. I have it cast on my tv and I can barely hear them on normal volume. I didn’t want to play the whole video and not knowing when the music coming on and on full blast. So no, I didn’t watch it bc I can barely hear them..

    • @LucienSabre
      @LucienSabre 4 года назад

      Amy Chen I’m sorry for coming out so aggressive, but your comment didn’t really sound constructive to me. I don’t think 15 seconds of a video - which is (literally) all that you watched - are enough for any type of feedback let alone constructive one. If you’d watched just 15 seconds more you would’ve seen there was no music, but just the two of them talking in normal-volume voice....at least, it sounded normal volume on my tv.

    • @sweetlilbubble
      @sweetlilbubble 4 года назад

      LucienSabre I was trying to save mine and my pups ear drums from possible music blast again. Like I said, no I didn’t watch it all bc of the volume issue.
      There could be other watchers with the same issue and did not watch to the end bc of volume trouble. Eg. sleeping baby or skittish pets and don’t want to risk watching it not knowing if the music will come on or not. So ya. It s a constructive feed back if other people may have the same issue.

    • @LucienSabre
      @LucienSabre 4 года назад

      Amy Chen It’s not that you *didn’t watch it all* - like you say. You didn’t watch it, period (watching 15 seconds of a video is like not watching it at all). It would’ve taken you only 5-10 seconds more to understand and realize the “volume issue” did not exist, and nobody was risking having their ear drums blasted. :)

    People banking on the success of Airbnb to get traffic for their droll videos; this is their "job" making videos. So take that for what it is... Not really relevant in terms of most Airbnb stays and certainly not the norm. Anyone can have a bad experience once, but most of us chalk it up. I have had horrendous stays in hotels, but you don't see me blathering on about moldy smelling carpets, saggy beds, and noisy elevators I have run into in hotels. Don't waste your time, ie 19 minutes of your day that you can use to do something else positive with it.

      That was so rude. Bad service is never OK- when did that become the standard? There are tons of first world millennial problems.. but this isn't one. A huge corporation (airbnb) can definitely afford to pay for a couple nights in a hotel when there business was not holding up its end of the "purchase". They had a lot of money from these people already.. they could have easily made it right. It's so disappointing when I see other people siding with screwing the working man.

    90% of the Airbnb 'horror stories' are hotel industry trolls. Airbnb is eating hotels' lunch and ought to. I can have a nice place and be able to cook for 40 bucks vs 99 in a shitty noisy dirty motel with bedbugs. I've used them for 3 years and only had a few glitches that were rectified; I couldn't have afforded to travel all over the US and to NZ/Oz without them.
