Sometimes I feel like I don’t belong and playing Echoes of the Eye made that feeling so much worse. The way the Stranger’s inhabitants charged at me, the way they stopped to stare at me, the way they looked at me just before blowing out my lantern, everything was telling me that I didn’t belong and that I wasn’t supposed to be here. That I was the Stranger. But when I heard this song and when I thought about my friends, in the game and in real life, I thought about how they wouldn’t want me to give up, they would want me to fight on. So when I hear this song, it makes think that this is the game’s way of telling me to keep going and always be creative and curious, it filled me with a “strange” feeling of determination and even through the hardest parts of the game, I loved every fraction of a nanosecond of it. I love the challenge. After all… “Identity and Explain, these are the two things that drive the Nomai to explore.” -Solanum, on the Quantum Moon.

For those who feel like strangers, remember that it never lasts long. Eventually, you will find somewhere that you belong, and when you look at the person, standing to the side, be thankful that you found your people, and help others find theirs. And thats okay. Eote happened during a time where i just didnt fit in. It helped me realize that standing on the outside shows you so much more then staying on the inside. Elles résonnent si fort en moi, elle me parle, elle m'entraine, m'emporte. J'ai envie de retrouver sur l'étranger et repartir à la découverte des mystères de cette petite planète. Je me revois encore leur dire au revoir à tous et je ne pourrais jamais décrire le sentiment que j'ai ressentis à ce moment là. Comme une partie de ma vie qui s'arrête, qui prend fin. C'est fort pour un jeu, et pourtant c'est exactement comme ça que je l'ai ressentis. J'ai réecouté maintes et maintes fois cette musique et chaque fois, j'ai eu des frissons. Wow c'est fort. Mais je le comprends, comment oublier ce moment ? Pour ma part ce qui a vraiment scellé cette mélodie en moi c'est le fait de l'entendre à chaque moment passé sur un radeau, aussi court soit-il. Tous ces moment où on se rend d'un point A à un point B, où on essaie d'assimiler les informations et d'assembler toutes les pièces, où on a ces instants de clarté soudaine. Le fait qu'elle apparaisse et disparaisse comme si elle ne s'arrêtait jamais, c'est un choix de design que je trouve excellent. Pour moi elle ne s'est jamais arrêtée.
This is amazing! The river is my favorite song in the game. The first time entering the stranger and hearing this when the raft drops down was so magical.

Please someone refute me, but I'm starting to think that Outer Wilds has more covers than any other videogame ever, at least in a short period of time.
Outer Wilds doesn't have a lot of soundtracks, but the Devs knew how to introduce each one for you to remember them. I think that's why so many people want to arrange them, it's a way to share how they felt it the first time.
That was a beautiful cover, and some very nice video work as well! I always thought it was a shame in Echoes that the river music stopped whenever you got off of the raft, so I never got to listen to it for that long because I had puzzles to solve. I enjoyed taking a moment to listen to this and fill that gap. :)
would love to see a high quality flac download! (youtube's compression just isn't great for listening to pieces like this) i'd even consider buying it if you have a bandcamp or something
