I'm a big walker but what's your go to way to get around town when you want to see a lot!?
Study the city map first before you go, try to park your car in the center of the attractions you want to see. Example for Toronto, park at the historic Fort York, visit and then proceed to the CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, in the summer parking is cheap and available at the University of Toronto. Use the subway system in big cities to avoid parking problems: London, Paris, Montreal, San Francisco.
Walking is the best way to explore a city!

I was in Japan myself last month just before and during golden week. Fun watching you publish this now that I am back in the states.
I walked Tokyo a lot. I love getting lost in big cities on foot only to find my way home on a random train or bus (whatever I find once I hit exhaustion) after a full day of city hiking.
That’s so fun! I didn’t spend much time in Tokyo but then again I don’t love cities. Sounds like you had a good time

There is a Japanese cultural center, tea house & gardens in Saginaw Michigan, have not visited it yet. I have walked through the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco at Golden Gate Park twice, I would recommend having decent walking shoes for San Fran. I will probably check out the Little Tokyo when I visit the LA attractions in the future.
Japanese Gardens are so beautiful in every country. A great suggestion
You missed Ginkakuji I guess, that was my favorite. I recommend the town of Nikko for onsen, food, and temples, but it might be too far away for you.
I only had one day in Kyoto so couldn’t see it all.

Thanks for sharing Kyoto with us. Those temples are finely built. They feel so peaceful walking through. And the donuts.... yummy 🍩. I would go for sushi 🍱 too, there must be a thousand of little places where to eat 🇯🇵.
There are so many places to eat! Lots of Teppan Yaki and noodle places
