I need a tool like that for that seal on the passenger side of the angle gear, on the all-wheel drive P2 models. It's really easy to flip that spring off on that great big seal on the passenger side of the angle gear. On second thought I probably need a whole set of those that covers a wide range of seals cuz I like that idea! Once again thanks Robert!
Would really like to see a comprehensive set of interference removals, to help new viewers that didn't have shop class, great video, this is my next job on my XC70
The only way to make sure that your mechanic doesn't fleece you. It's to do it yourself. 😆 Each of my videos will show how much time it takes to complete the job in the remarks, description area. Most mechanics charge book times regardless of how long it takes them. Unless of course something happens that causes it to take longer, then they may charge the actual time.
Pretty sure I have this same issue going on... I had the dreaded clogged PCV issue.... I got around to replacing it all, but not before it unfortunately blew out some kind of seal on the bottom of the timing belt area as there is now oil steadily leaking around there. Thanks for the video. I'm definitely gonna get that little seal tool before I get into this job. How long do you think a car with a blown seal like this is driveable for? Mine doesn't seem to be leaking more than an ounce or two of oil per day but it's hard to tell on the dipstick
How would I replace the exhaust cam sprocket seal I know it's like a t50 if u could email me a video because I can't find one I've replaced crank seal and the other seal that is front but how do I take of the other crank pulley which is the exhaust side
Common sense would tell you that, if the front crankshaft seal is leaking, then most likely the oil pump seals need to be replaced as well. It makes no sense to do all of that work, and not change those seals. After all, they sold in a kit as well. Part #274260 - About $34.00

@@RobertDIY thank you Sir
Built in rust preventer, coat the under parts in a thin film of oil.
LOL
That seal tool is great 👍!!
Yes it is.
Robert, you are the best
thanks
Hi. Can I ask how long the whole process took you. Mine has the same problem and I want to make sure my mechanic doesn't fleece me!

Timing belt has to come off so the labor will likely be between $600 and $800.
Nice! “Swedish Caaar Pots”

Until you run out of oil, you can run that car forever
Is the seal on the drivers side or the passenger side?
the front of the engine is where the belts are. The back of the engine is where the transmission is mounted.

We call it a VVT cam hub.

So I should have added another 2 or 3 hours to the job to replace a gasket that wasn't leaking? Interesting.
@@RobertDIY It shouldn’t take you nowhere near two hours to pull the four bolts, replace a gasket and an o-ring seal. 🤦🏻♀️
