When I saw my tablet (490) was ranked F, I started searching for a 480 and now considering the 472 as it is affordable. This made me found the difference between drag and hovering on the 490 and tried putting tape on the pen nib and it felt really responsive but I usually scroll through maps with my pen so it feels weird. i got a 4100 and i never knew how the feel of it held up to other tablets because it’s really rare to find on youtube but this makes me happy is definitely recommend it, it works with all drivers i’ve found and has a really good refresh rate and is super responsive
It is very hard to discern how good your tablet is when having nothing else to compare to, but the CTL-4100 is actually one of the lowest in terms of refresh rate (rps), and has abhorrently bad and inconsistent hardware smoothing whenever the tablet thinks you are hovering. I used a CTL-4100 for a while, and the improvement was huge when switching to a CTH-470. The 4100 is better than an H420 and such, but it really isn't something you want to be using if your main goal is osu.
@@Tr-zd7tm Both are 133rps, which is pretty much the lowest you can get on a tablet, except for the older Wacoms that had 100rps. Pro-model Wacoms have 200rps with no smoothing, and a lot of other brands have even higher advertised rps (usually around 266rps), although every single one of those non-Wacom tablets has hardware smoothing of some kind, and there is evidence to support that the rps is interpolated anyways, so they are terrible options for osu. Tablet rps is pretty much irrelevant anyways since they use absolute positioning and your cursor will always be exactly where you are aiming on each report cycle, but I'd certainly not call Wacom's standard 133rps "good." It is adequate, and it doesn't really matter for actual usage, but it is about as slow as you can get on a tablet.
I think the Veikk deserves at least a B tier, with the hawku drivers and using the filters, you can make it super playable and the smoothing doesn't exist anymore.
got myself a gaomon s620 and im just a beginner and i’ve been doing so good with it, no problems with it at all except the buttons but im happy with it!
I have very little experience in this regard, however, I have personally owned two H420 tablets, and then a G640 Rev-A (from before the different ones exists) and then a G640 Rev-B as my most recent one. Also, I feel like it's worth it to mention, I play hover and use OpenTabletDriver, so YMMV. In my personal experience, I've actually had less problems and a better experience with the Rev-B compared to the Rev-A, as my Rev-A had some serious issues while hovering, even with the stock drivers, where if you pressed any pen button while hovering, it would temporarily displace the cursor. From what I've seen thusfar with my Rev-B, it's still an issue occasionally, but it does appear to be a lot less dramatic. tl;dr: G640 Rev-B is my preference, even though Rev-A might be better on paper.
A note about the CTL-4100 that I didn't hear Koi mention and may be useful - the hover distance is much lower than that of the 480 or the 472 (it's like 7mm iirc) so, if you consider the 4100, keep that in mind. edit - I guess I never noticed the actual hover distance on my tablet :P
The CTL-4100 has a max hover distance of about 16mm which is exactly on par with the 480. The 472 actually has a lower max hover distance at around 14.5mm, but such a difference barely matters. If you’re getting the 7mm from the listed specs Wacom gives, that is never accurate in real-world use. But regardless, I’d still not buy a 4100 because of the hardware smoothing, especially if you intend to hover.
The 490 is objectively the worst Wacom tablet for osu in terms of hardware filtering. It isn't quite as bad as Koi made it out to be in this video, but it is far from ideal. I imagine the reason you may prefer the 490 over the 470 is because some players do prefer a bit of smoothing on their cursor, and you only hover so you never notice the smoothing difference between hovering and dragging on the 490. But even if you prefer smoothing. it is always better to start with a tablet with completely raw input (like the 470) and add smoothing afterwards to your preference so that you can tune it exactly to your needs.
The fact that ips is never a consideration when people look at tablets boggle my mind. Osu the game where everyone wants the least amount of latency as possible and the most popular tablet is 133ips/hz and something like the s620 is double that and feels much nicer
Wanting to expand to getting into as many game genres possible, after getting into danganrompa and visual novels, the most recent game remind me of osu, so decided to get into rythem games by starting with Osu! So trying to find people who play it and still active

@@xxgelenxxgames3773 Not that I know of, never really had any performance problems ever. I’m pretty sure every other tablet that exists is better in every way that this one tho, wouldn’t recommend getting it at all. Better off saving and getting a good one

I'm using the 680 which is basically just a bigger 420😂 I bought it for drawing forever ago and ended up getting into osu like 4 years after I bought it🤷♀️
Uh I'm not sure if this has been pointed out but the reason why the CTL-4100 is more expensive is because art wise it has more depth of touch, making it a better value for people who are focusing on art, that's why it's a bit more expensive.
@@michikomanguinao874 It's just different and really weird to get used to and try. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, however it'll be pretty hard to move forward in comparison to other tablets. It'll also be pretty hard to switch from a battery pen to a different kind of pen from experience. I got the tablet he said he switched to and am still trying to get used to it. The delay on the tablet is manageable and you can get used to it, but it just means you'll have to play slower maps. That's exactly what I did to reach my rank! osu! is a game you can play in many different ways, just some are more effective and smarter than others. Feel free to buy and work with whatever you want, but I do highly recommend you buy a more expensive one if you can.
@@-undefined- Did you know that you could have used huion's p80 pen with the h420? It's a battery-less pen that needs to be charged like once every month or so (depending on usage). I switched to it, because the p68 that comes with the tablet was too heavy (and I broke it very early on lol).
@@hanekawatsubasa6976 Been dragging ever since I started playing. So the answer would be yes, you can drag on the 420/h420 (also I recommend getting the p80 pen instead of the p68 that comes with it, since it's lighter; you just have to charge it every once in a while).

So I knew nothing about tablets being good/bad for osu and I wasn't purchasing my tablet primarily for osu but as a side thing (I played on a mouse so far, I'm bad either way) but somehow I still purchased the one tablet you recommend the most - the 472, even though I actually never heard you recommend it because I only watched a few of your videos, I didn't even notice that this is the tablet you're using. Also, the first tablet I ever came in contact with, my older brother's tablet and the one I've used the most so far (including playing some osu with it) was the "classic WubWoofWoof tablet" - the 460. I was considering buying it as well but just like you, I couldn't get my hands on it. I could visit my brother to play with it though.
But regardless, I’d still not buy a 4100 because of the hardware smoothing, especially if you intend to hover.
what about the hardware smoothing? is it bad?
thank you for this tier list! im happy to see my gaomon s620 up there, I bought it when you originally reviewed it ^ ^
how is it? do you like it?
@@dungmobi80 yep! I think it's the best tablet for osu in its price range
@@-ruubi-7270 yo thanks bro
When you watch the video after already ordering a G430 S….Yeah I maybe should’ve looked at this first.
I honestly don't get why people complain about the 490, I actually replaced my bamboo 470 with it and prefer it. Sincerely, a hover player
I was excited to see my 4100 place in the S class and then that cutscene hit lolol.
The fact that ips is never a consideration when people look at tablets boggle my mind. Osu the game where everyone wants the least amount of latency as possible and the most popular tablet is 133ips/hz and something like the s620 is double that and feels much nicer
Hardware smoothing is the most important though, so I would agree with his list. No tablet anyways comes to the hz of a mouse which is a 1000
I've been playing Osu for years now... on an H420. Didn't realize it was so bad :(
"No hes on the Wacom" very wholesome moment
Wanting to expand to getting into as many game genres possible, after getting into danganrompa and visual novels, the most recent game remind me of osu, so decided to get into rythem games by starting with Osu! So trying to find people who play it and still active
Ok
I have the H420 and I’ve been using it for like half a year. God I didn’t know what I was getting myself into and I literally can’t afford a new better one, rip me 😭
Do you have any problems using the H420?
@@xxgelenxxgames3773 Well the problem isn’t with the tablet but when I managed to afford a better one it kind of really messed up me switching to my newer tablet. I’ve had it for months now and still just can’t use it well. Other than that the only problem with tablet itself was that the pen is way too thick and it requires batteries
@@jakubl471 But still no performance drops or anything bad right?
@@xxgelenxxgames3773 Not that I know of, never really had any performance problems ever. I’m pretty sure every other tablet that exists is better in every way that this one tho, wouldn’t recommend getting it at all. Better off saving and getting a good one
@@jakubl471 Then the tablet is good once you get used to it with the pen right?
I use the Gaomon s620. gotta love it
As a H420 user, this is slander. This tablet slaps.
yep
Yea
And 3 years later this still pretty well holds up
I'm a mouse player, I'll always be a mouse player, still watched this entire video
This just adds more fuel to my dream that I commented on, "The ULTIMATE osu! tablet comparison" video.

i just reached 8kpp with my H420, so don't feel bad if you have one, you can get better regardless of what tablet you use.
The pen is definitely too fat (for me atleast)
I used the 480 and currently use the 4100, I found the 480 to have a higher hover distance for the pen and I found it to be better. Not by much though 😂
do you still like your 4100?
@@asieyep! Still using it! Brilliant tablet!
I have that first tablet and I'm so glad it ended up working so well with osu! but I should probably get the Hawku drivers. Nice video.
I’ve noticed that some people include “E” as a tier on the tier list and it always annoys me so much so THANK YOU KOIFISHU
I'm using the 680 which is basically just a bigger 420😂
I bought it for drawing forever ago and ended up getting into osu like 4 years after I bought it🤷♀️
What?? I have been using the 490 for so long, am I the weird one??
Uh I'm not sure if this has been pointed out but the reason why the CTL-4100 is more expensive is because art wise it has more depth of touch, making it a better value for people who are focusing on art, that's why it's a bit more expensive.

Got to 4 digit with my H420, now I wonder if I should change to a different tablet lmao
is there any problem in H420 ? cuz i want to buy a cheap one, im poor 🤣
Of course the one I have gets an F ...
I have the H420 lol but I initially bought it for art

can u drag with that? my friend has that but we don't know how to use it to drag
@@hanekawatsubasa6976 Been dragging ever since I started playing. So the answer would be yes, you can drag on the 420/h420 (also I recommend getting the p80 pen instead of the p68 that comes with it, since it's lighter; you just have to charge it every once in a while).
@@NozomiClips Our problem is, its too small and you can't hit circles that are too spaced. Also, it works like hover
@@hanekawatsubasa6976 I guess that's personal preference. For me full area on the 420 is already pretty big. I'm currently using 80x45 as my area.
@@NozomiClips How can you change the area tho. Also can you switch the tablet from hover to mouse mode? Like when you put the pen in a certain place, it just teleports.
Hey, I'm planning on getting my first osu tablet and stylus and I was just wondering out of all the s tier ones that you mentioned which one do you think is the best. Thanks
We all know that the I pad is the best tablet for osu
im a digital artist so i was lucky when i started getting into osu because i already had a tablet :)
Yo Koi thanks for ranking my one by wacom an S now i know that i can actually improve by using it
just broke my ctl-480 pen by sleeping on it. i dont even play osu anymore but i need this video
I have the xp pen tablet for osu , it works great if u hover above it , but when u play it like pressing into the tablet , god the sound is so horrific it made my soul cry😂
i own an xp-pen 640 rev B and a line friends edition and imma be honest, the hardware smoothing difference is noticable but if you're 6 digit like me it won't make you play worse, just takes one or two songs to get used to.
Yeah this is my first tablet (rev b) and I can return it if I wanted to but I’m not going to. Since because it’s my first tablet I’m going to wait until I don’t think I can get any better then get a real nice tablet to increase the skill cap:)
i’ve had the 472 for a while now and honestly it’s the best tablet i’ve ever used :P 11/10
I've been playing mouse for a little over a year now (and it got me to rank 93k), but I need a tablet for school, so I used this video for reference and picked the 4100. This should be interesting...
Kinda funny having access to a thing that's not very easily gettable anymore.
gaomon s620 deserves A tier tbh its just an amazing tablet and its cheap
Me: That one guy with Gaomon S620 trynna figure out if I should empty wallet to try and find a resell for CTH480 or CTL472
my brother bought a 472 two years ago and never used, a couple weeks ago I found it in his old room and thought about playing osu with it, I didn't even know it was good one, if this isn't a god's sign for playing this game 90% of my free time I don't know what it is
So pat on the back to me for my first osu tablet being the h420 but still managing to pull some pretty nice plays 🤣… just bought a second table and it’s B tier so I say that’s a pretty good jump in upgrade. Let’s see how well the line friends tablet does me.
Planning on switching very soon so this is gonna help me chose
Just bought the 472. It's less expensive than the other S or A tier Tablets so thats pretty nice.
I use the 490. i guess i havent noticed it cuz it is my first and only tablet. Been servingme well for over 3 years
Atleast I have the 4100 as my first tablet. Good to know I'll just continue using it.
me waiting for the veikk s640 👁👄👁
Good to know that the tablet I bought absolutely without thinking actually places in B tier.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
