+Johnny G Its because Tim Cain the original creator of the Fallout series was involved in making this game. I wish the poor guy would have been supported by larger companies to make more games. I dont know why he was not hired to help to make Fall out 3....Seems the business didnt give him due respect.
You know i would say first if it was not an outdated tradition that offers nothing to the current discussion............................. Gr8 m8 i r8 8/8, but you too l8......... M8
gaurd3 That's not really the case. They've made a system that creates an array of viable builds by limiting things like dump stats in other games. The challenge and the fun comes in creating and maximizing all these builds. You still have to play to the strengths of your build, or you won't succeed.
Of course, I was just being a little facetious. Just that for me, true cRPGs is min/maxing and owning the result of what you create. I know the temperature for those games have changed. Sill going to check this out when its on sale.
For sombody who is a poor piece of shit college student who can only afford one game this month, how does this compare to divinity original sin? Better? Worse? In what ways? Thanks in advance :)
AsterSea Divinity was an excellent game, it took it's world and narrative in a self-aware, humorous manner, and the combat was all about the way elements combined. Pillars is a lot more serious in tone. The world is a LOT more fleshed out with lore oozing out of every crevice. The writing is frankly leagues better than in Divinity, in terms of world development, lore, characters and narrative. The combat mechanics are also a lot deeper. This is basically a spiritual successor to BG2. Divinity is no such thing, and was never trying to be. Hope that helps ;)
Johnny G That did in fact answer my question in full. Thank you so much! I'm a sucker for the baldur's gate series, so my decision is pretty much made at this point. I Cannot wait to dive right into this game :) You're awesome. Stay awesome.
Belze Buddha Because we're neither 12 years old anymore, nor so stupid we can't see past our own selfish self-gratification? We love games like this and the only way games like this get made is if people buy them.
i Granot It is the complete opposite of unoriginal or uninspired. This game's world is something I haven't seen the likes off since Planescape: Torment. It's rich with lore, it dishes up some great set piece combat, addicting narrative. It really does leave behind just about any other RPG I've played in the past decade.
Thank you for this. Picked up the game for time first time today. Late to the party but still glad I came.
Its never to late ! I just started playing this game yesterday and its really good
This video may have just sold the game for me. Good on you, GameSpot.
AsterSea Best RPG in a loooong time. ;)

do people actually min/max in these games, i usually just pick whatever is appealing to me as i usually role-play in rpgs
Bryan Herrera many people do yes. much like people do in say world of warcraft.
Bryan Herrera Yes, lot's of people with min-max syndrome really love character building.
+Bryan Herrera yes i min max, becus better have solid ground then a weak root with alot of branches
It depends on your playstyle. If you want to succeed in higher difficulties, you have to do it.
Ohhh, now I know where my sword went, forgot I had thrown it in someone's chest. Well fuck praise OBSIDIAN for attention to detail.
The Portrait-Situation ... my only complaint so far.
ya
for sure like Baldurs gate you can use custom portraits
ViralInfekT You can add in custom portraits. There's a huge amount of them available, look for Pillars of Eternity portraits on google.
Johnny G Thank you for the hint ^^

I murdered a pie with an axe then took a nap on a bed of hats.
This game is getting amazing reviews from RPG fans. If you're gunna judge negatively from one little vid then you don't deserve to play it anyway.

Not very helpful.
Everything I read from the devs says, there's no min/max (thought)needed. Just "hit random" and have fun. babies first crpg

Looks very unoriginal and uninspired. Just a souped up version of the classic D&D games. No go for my wallet.
yeah its very.... standard

Johnny G I find it very generic. They just renamed some things
