Oh this is for me!! Sounds delicious! I have cut back and I'm peaching moderation! It's about maintaining good health. Just saw a drunk reviewer on another channel and it's appalling to be honest. Thanks for your amazing, insightful reviews!! Much appreciated! 🙂
Single cask whisky always catches my eye. For the most part I have had good luck with them but every once in awhile there is a regrettable one. Cheers to another great review.
Again you make EWC sound so delicious, I'm really going to have to get my hands on a bottle. Will definitely keep an eye out for it next time I cross the channel.
Greetings Shane, Because of your enthusiasm I’ve gone down yet another rabbit hole 🤯 I’m enjoying The English single rum cask # 0481 June 2009-October 2017 @ 57.8% Have you tried this? Also can you provide the specs on this Sherry single cask ? I took screenshot but can’t decipher?
I'm really glad you were able to find a Red Range, John. I think I tried that one at the distillery (I've had a few of their rum casks and believe I've reviewed two of the 46%ers) but I didn't buy a whole bottle of it. The Peated Oloroso Cask is 57.7%, peated to 60ppm, cask B1/0867, 1 of 280 bottles, distilled in June 2011 and bottled in October 2022 resulting in 11yrs and 4months maturation. It's one of the best whiskies I've had from EWC barring things like the recent insanely priced 15yo single cask release.
I have a bottle of the unpeated version of this but haven't opened it yet... have you heard of Dartmoor whisky? They're English too - be interested to hear what you think of them too! Unfortunately no age statement to my knowledge :(
I tried that side by side against this. They're both very good. I did prefer the peated version, and not just for the peat, but it's close 👍 I haven't tried anything from Dartmoor yet. As you probably know, I went through a lot of new distillery offerings for a while but had to draw a line under it because it was becoming a full time job! It's insane how many new distilleries are coming online. Have you tried anything from Dartmoor? Any recommendations? Cheers 🥃
That's interesting - I'll have to open it up at some point to try it out. I've had it for around a year now, bought it from the distillery with the voucher they give you after the tour lol From Dartmoor I tried the Bordeaux wine and Bourbon casks from their main range about a year ago and the Bordeaux was the better one for me. At the time I tried them I hadn't really had a lot of whiskies but I do remember that I enjoyed the Bordeaux wine cask more. They also do an Olorosso sherry cask which is slightly more expensive but I haven't tried that one yet, although I have an unopened bottle of that too. I need to stop saving these whiskies and enjoy them lol Cheers!🍻
@@Clive-Here always worth using those vouchers! I know what you mean about buying more than you drink though 😬 I'm still trying to thin my stock out a little... and not making a lot of progress. Cheers 🥃
@WhiskyLock currently I've got the Penderyn madeira cask, Penderyn Legend (which is apparently from the same cask, just 4th 5th or 6th fill) English whisky virgin oak (red and white boxes) and a bottle of Talisker open with a bottle of Jamesons in a decanter. I am too trying to thin the stock with not much luck lol at least they won't go out of date! Cheers!
@@Clive-Here interesting info about Penderyn Legend - makes sense. I think the Madeira Penderyn is a lovely dram, especially on offer. If that's your whole collection then you are doing significantly better at limiting yourself than me 😂 Cheers 🥃
I've managed to thoroughly tire myself of sherry cask strength whisky lately by buying 7 or so of the signatory 100 proof bottles.. . Whenever I go l back to the category I'll put the English whisky company on the top of the list, especially the peated stuff
Sounds delicious, thanks for another great review.

A drunk reviewer 😮😬 thanks as always Christine 🥃

It's frustrating when you get a dud... but so rewarding when you get a good one 😍 Cheers 🥃
another great review Shane I must try and get a bottle from the English Whisky Company at some point.

Hope you manage to find a good one! Thank you for the support 🙏 Cheers 🥃
Great review and comparison Shane! Really wish we could get this in my market. Cheers!
Cheers Simonne 🥃
Just as long as it doesn't remind us of what the hospital floor cleaner is cleaning up, right?

EWC do some great peated whisky. Unlike a lot of other English distilleries they actually use peated malt 👍
