DLC story
This expansion is set in The Cut, a region on the border of Banuk territory, and involves Aloy journeying to the peak of a mysterious mountain. The Frozen Wilds will include new machines, quests, weapons, settlements, trophies, abilities, activities, and characters not seen in the base game, and serves as a new chapter in Aloy's adventure.
General Game info
Horizon Zero Dawn is an action role-playing game played from a third-person view. Players take control of Aloy, a hunter and archer, as she progresses through a post-apocalyptic land ruled by robotic creatures known simply as "Machines". Machine components, such as electricity and the metal they are composed of, are vital to Aloy's survival, and she can loot their corpses to find useful resources for crafting. Aloy uses a variety of ways to kill enemies, such as setting traps like tripwires using the Ropecaster, shooting enemies with arrows, using explosives, and melee combat. Weaponry and traps may be purchased from traders. Further, she is essentially able to hack a selection of creatures with the Override Tool, turning them into makeshift vehicles or travelling companions. Aloy can also hide in foliage and ambush nearby enemies to ensure immediate takedowns. A "focus scan" allows Aloy to determine her enemies' susceptibilities, identify their location, the particular level they possess and the nature of loot they will drop. There are three categories in the skill tree-"Prowler" concerns stealth; "Brave" improves combat; and "Forager" increases healing and gathering capabilities.
You can get the Ravager Gun to spawn in Chieftain's Trial when fighting Frostclaws if you done the previous Trial, Onslaught Trial before and dismantled it from ravager. It just stays there for Chieftain's Trial if you do this trial immediately after 2nd trial without reloading or dying. Make sure you pick it up once(you can drop immediately after) or it will disappear!
I used it and the cannon still vanished
I tested it multiple times, on first zone as well, accepting first trial, dismantling raveger cannon, picking it up, then dropping, and after I initiated another trial it was still there. And it seems that there is no limit to how much cannons you can spawn this way. May be it has been patched since.
I fought a Sawtooth on the 2nd trial.. Not even a sigle Ravanger was there for cannon.. Sigh..
Chris Allen I just made it, it hasn’t been patched, you can still get the ravager cannon from the second trial and use it here.

Most hardest hunting trial ever
In the onslaught trial, blast bombs were really effective since they were bunched up pretty good. many times I got 2-3 in one hit. but it usually only worked with watchers and ravagers, still made it pretty easy though
EDIT: Blast Bombs worked great in the Chieftain Trial too, both Frostclaws bunched up so whenever I got one explosion, it hurt the other one too. Was just on normal difficulty but it ended up being way easier than I expected
I was skeptical but your strategy for leaving the ravager cannon for the last trial worked like a charm! You saved me from additional hours of frustration
Tips for the Storm
slinger Trial, get the stormslinger powered up by an Oseram first. It will be so much easier, but be careful, it does consume a lil of your health.

You have a trap on a little mountain with wood in it .you shoot that when the schorcer is behind you and that will hit him and its easier to kill him. You can shot that with stormeslinger no need to changes weapons.

Dude when doing the Cheiftain’s trail you enter the Frostclaw area and pick up a massive ass weapon to help beat it in 4:30. How did you get it to spawn because in mine it isn’t there? I’m almost 1 more death away from throwing my remote through my TV!
It just was there, I didn't do anything special. Search around the area, may be it spawns randomly. Or if you are playing on ultra hard/ng+ may be it is not spawning at all at this difficulty.
wiperru I searched around and couldn’t find anything :/ I got lucky though since I posted the last comment. I somehow got to the frostclaws at 2:00 and put maximum damage output on my bow and obliterated the buggers. What a pain in the ass that challenge was.
He gets the ravager weapon from the 2nd challenge from the ravager in the 3rd wave

there is no video or walkthrough saying what you get for completing the 3 hunter challenges with gold. I heard you get a Veteran's Weapon Coil. What stats does this boost and did you get any bluegleam with this challenge too??
this was so hard... i spent hours doing it. no lie. the wave trial i did first time but the others, man, they were hard
how the hell did you get a gun to spawn?
I have no idea, it just was there, and judging from Aloy phrase that it will even odds, it supposed to be there by script. Try reloading the game or travelling to different location and then going back.
Figured it out, it hasn't despawned from Onslaught Trial.
It's the fun from the machine, no?
For those curious about leaving the Ravager cannon for the next trial and if it’s been patched, it is February 2021 and it still works. 👍🏼
I didn’t have to use it or have it in hand as trial ended as others have said, just knocked it off then killed everything and picked it up and sat it down. Thank you OP for this amazing tip

Which modifications are you using? I'm with 3 rares and still can't kill the longlegs with 1 shot only (not even 2)
theese bows are special bows from dlc
@@gi_varotti I think, the best mods are legendary (purple) and If you play this game , you will definely have at least three! The best farms for these purple mods are huge machines like Thunderjaw.
Thunderjaw is pretty easy to take down, you just shoot his cannons of (by using tearblast arrows)and kill him with them.

Very good hunt indeed, but in the last wave of the chieftain's trial without that badass ravager gun it will be waaay more difficult! Now that I have seen this tutorial I will try to get this gun to spawn because I understand it is not always available... 🤔

I am doing this on ultra hard and it is far more difficult than hard. Even with the enhanced stormslinger, the controlled trial just isn't possible. I'm regretting my decision to play through on ultra hard now haha.

You could have done the first three machines with only three arrows by using those logpiles at the Right timing.
I finished ist with about 15 of those big arrows left.
Normal difficulty on this game let alone these trials is absolutely FUCKED

I did this first try gold but on the wave one it took so long
These do not scale in NG+. The first challenge is taking way more arrows than it should making it impossible. I dont miss a single crit shot and it still leaves me with only 6 arrows at the bellowback. No way to finish it...
Then you aren't doing something correctly. I'm playing on Ultra Hard and got to the bellow back with something like 20 of the light arrows (not the hard point arrows, I can't remember what the other ones are called). I had enough arrows to destroy the back of the bellowback, but not enough to destroy it :'( haha.

Every time I set my tramplers on fire this annoying ass NPC freezes them and puts the damn flames out
Weird, they are supposed to burn indefinitely till they die. In any case, try luring them away from the NPC after she had frozen them. I had the other problem by the way, NPC just forgot to throw freeze bombs and stood still, I had to get up to her to make her throw them again.
so.... you need cheating armor to win. I wasn't going out of my mind after all!!!!

How did you upgrade your bow? I can’t find the ammo upgrade or how to get Aloy to draw three bows instead of one?
Draw three arrows is a perk you can acquire in your skill tree, To get new bows simply buy from Banuk tribe vendors in DLC area.

Dacia Paden read the skill descriptions warrior middle row bottom it says use R1 < am a PS4 so I don’t know what is it in Xbox any way use R1 to prepare 3 arrows .. blah blah . You’re welcome 😉

That was a dude and no. You might recall a trader speaking to you about 3 hunters who owe him money? That guy's daughter. It's in the South-Eastern most settlement on the DLC area's map, just south of Thunderdrum (Which if you have done the Tallneck bit than it's the part that -wasn't- revealed from that). She's in that town. She can upgrade your Stormslinger, Flamethrower (don't remember the actual name), and your Frost Cannon. You will have to take down a Stormbird (with her), a Bellowback (on your own), and a Thunderjaw (with her).

Anyway to do this on Ultra hard mode? I'm playing new game play Plus on Ultra hard mode, but even with the best mods and weapons and never missing a single crit shot, I still can't make it to the bellowback. What's up?

Hey dude try this on ultra hard i can told you that not easy like this
Shield Weaver, not the right type of arrows, bad aim, movements which lead to you taking damage (even though you had the shield weaver) and way to much unecessary running from the machines. Not the most interesting hunt in my opinion, took to much unecessary time.
What is wrong with shield-weaver? What is the right type of arrows?
Nothing's wrong with the Shield Weaver if you like it easy (which is not the case if you play on hard). Precision / armor piercing arrows can do more damage (and you can prepare 2 or 3 arrows for more damage) if you have the right resources (which is the case as you're well above level 50). In the case of the blaze container, you can use 1 arrow/machine on 2 or 3 machines, and wait for the explosion.
Shield weaver doesn't make the game easy, it barely protects you from two attacks on hard(usually one attack from strong enemy). I don't use precision arrows on weak enemies, because of longer preparation time. If you mean very first trial(ikrie's challenge ) you can't craft arrows there and have to preserve them, that is the whole point of trial. For the explosion method to work you need them to be grouped up, which doesn't always happen.
I often use hardpoint arrows for fast combat, sometimes trying to vary between hardpoint and precision. Sharpshot bow/powershot bow just doesn't load at the speed I'd like it too. I think this video is great, wiperru! Better than I could do. I need to keep practicing!
Thanks for feedback! And yeah, hardpoint arrows are much better to use against weak enemies because of faster preparation time and you don't need extra damage from precision against them anyway.

You must be doing something wrong, because it always spawns for me if I do this correctly. And it is on Hard, you can set the game to hard yourself and compare your damage numbers. Story has much higher damage numbers.
