That's why the industry had to kill R&B music and not this watered down music we have now. This was healing! This was awakening the unconscious. I am going to try not to cry but to listen to the voices of Aretha in concert, Gladys, Patti, Phyllis and Chaka plus many more, I cry at the ease and strength they display. I would save up my coins and I would go to the Howard Theater, Wolf Trap and the Merriweather Post Papavillion, Carter Baron, you name it, I hitchhiked, put in for gas with the same friends for their entire careers. And cried every show.
