I interpret this parable as Jesus saying it doesn't matter how long it takes for those that are lost to find him, their reward will be the same as those who found him early on.
Furthermore, those that started early, lived within the covenant path all the while and received all of the blessings that come with that covenantal living. They had the peace and knowledge and confidence that can’t come from anywhere else- knowing they were and would be taken care of temporally and spiritually. They had peace of conscience. Whereas those that came in the last hour likely had many more trials in their lives without the Saviors full support that they otherwise would’ve had living within the covenant path.
Christ has promised all that he has to those who believe and follow his commandments, whether early in life or late. If we inherit eternal life, nothing greater can be given us.
This parable means, apostles, pastors, prophets ,Evangelists and teachers of those days ,these days and of days to come shall receive same reward.I love this ,let his name be praised Amen grorry
For many be called, but a few chosen. - Powerful I actually think it is not enough for men to just believe in God and Jesus. Once you believe, you must do God's work. This will then be the heat of the day. But in the end, you will receive more than you could have achieved otherwise; on earth and in heaven.
Powerful message, not easily understood. I used to be like the laborer thinking that it wasn't fair for the ones who only worked a short time to receive an equal reward for those who labored 10 times as long. But through studying the bible I'm starting to understand God's grace for mankind and how his gift of everlasting life will be given to those who believe and do his will. This parable and the parable of the prodigal son are very similar in teaching. Both of which I thought were ridiculous when I was a non-believer. 2 Corinthians 4:4 was in full effect with me. My mind was blinded... But now I understand.
renragged yes so true once your ears have been open you can truely hear His voice... This parable also he tell us how to pray and when.. and that one hour all thru the Bible even Jesus was upset in the garden of that his disciples had fallen alseep while he ask them to pray with him for one hour again..why does it matter how long we pray...? Well must be and order things of unknown to man... but I can tell you this the one hour thing is represents prayer and also his return... God bless us all.
I say even if ... Jesus never existed....his words amazed me ... till this day ....and that's how I should live...I feel better when I'm in the moment....and I think of how God must feel watching his children behaving the way we do...go to God ...he's waiting for you ...
I always think I am working so hard but paid very little in comparison to others. This parable gave me an answer and it is soothing to me. Thanks Lord!
@Dr Sr Judgement is far from yours. Especially condemning others as "fools". I hope this is not how you walk through life or the ignorant manner you typically speak in. If so, you will have a lot to answer for.
I love how the Lord is able to rebuke the murmuring laborer in a firm yet gentle manner: “Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own?”
This parable clearly separates fake Christians from real ones. FAKE Christians, so called 'labouring for the Master' (or God) only work for MONEY, and so for them the parable seems totally unfair that those who only worked an hour received the same amount as those who worked hard for the whole day. But to those FAKE Christians the Master (or God) was trying to teach them that He is a compassionate loving caring God who understands that even those who were only able to secure employment for an hour also had wives and families to feed and would need sufficient cash to accomplish this. But, even more importantly God would want us to understand that the ones who really received the greatest reward were those who worked the whole day. Why?.....Because their reward was much MORE VALUABLE THAN CASH.... They were able to enjoy working in FELLOWSHIP WITH THE MASTER (or God) for the WHOLE day! GENUINE Christians would realise that the full day workers were more highly rewarded even if they didn't receive any wages. IF you are having a challenge understanding the parables or life of Jesus read the book "DESIRE OF AGES" by E.G.White available from any Adventist Book Shop and you will be blessed.
It could say that, it could simply say that, God is doing us a favour because he cares about us, so he will try and help as many as he can (allow all who follow access to the kingdom of heaven). We shouldn't only follow for rewards but because we love God also in return. Thoughts?
Fundamentally yes, the penny represents eternal life. It is god's grace and generosity in bestowing to all, whether having faith early or later in life. Also tackles the envy man feels towards "deathbed repeaters" if u get my drift
It means the kingdom of God (penny) was first only for the Jews... they were the first to labour and have the chance to enter into his Kingdom. But when Jesus came into this world, his people received him not. That is when the gentiles which were last, (having no hope) now be made first to enter into God's kingdom.
A possible interpretation, yes, salvation is a free gift to all who come unto Christ. He is free to give it to whoever he wants to, those who have devoted their lives to him in constant service as well as those who have served for but a little while. His "money" (or rather the gift of salvation) belongs to God, he can do with it however he likes. We should not be envious towards those who God decides to bless or save - just because they have not done what we have. We rely on the Grace of Christ entirely to save, no matter how much we work or wear out our lives, in the end it is his money to give us, not ours to "earn". That's not how grace or salvation works. Shouldn't we instead be happy others receive happiness, grace and salvation at Christ's hand, instead of jealous? Are we not all fellow laborers? Shouldn't we instead rejoice when others are also offered salvation at an easier price than our own?
He is generous to all who come it has nothing to do with how hard you labored more hours less hours his Mercy is not bestowed on 11 hour workers just because they worked longer those who labored less were given the same it's not about what they deserved it's about mercy
It does not matter who we are or how long it takes us. Christ is here to greet us with open arms. He loves his father and he loves Christ and they both Love's us as well. Am I the only one getting this parable as in Jerusalem shall see many gentiles with the lord before themselves? For even Paul sorrowed for his own. For example I am so grateful. I deserved nothing. Yet his mercy and grace brought forth repentance and now here I am today, praising Jesus. Thanking The Father for his Son. Oh my how the gospel still brings tears to my eyes. For it is the power of God unto salvation amen.
My dear brother accepted Jesus into his life two weeks before he died. I prayed with him and told him about our loving Heavenly Father. He also had many chats with the chaplain too. That gave him great peace in his heart. At least I know he is with Jesus
This parable is only mentioned once, but it seems aimed at those of us who have been life-long believers, so that, when we get There, seeing people who were not life-long believers, we will have been warned by this parable to expect that, since He is so gracious and merciful. After all, He saved us, and we're sinners who will sin until He calls us home. Remember how Jonah shook his proverbial fist at God for showing mercy to Ninevah, whining that he knew God would be merciful. We don't want to whine like Jonah when we see some folks There who lived quite different lives, but believed on Him.
It's always good to know you equate immortality and heaven itself with a penny, the smallest unit of currency of little value compared to significant gain. If the people in the vineyard beg on the street from servants of the King passing by will he not also distribute wealth as he sees fit without a smug vineyard owner proving an idiots point?

The essence of this parable, is that when you choose to do good people will murmur and complain, but do not refuse to do good because of people's complain.
Many of them have a reflective meaning in the law of the Kingdom of God as well. The landowner only hires the last group to help them rather than himself, he's providing everyone's needs as a charity. @@blazednlovinit Do you think this parable is about people who become Christian but then later judge others and become prideful and self entitled thinking that they are better and worth more. They are the ones that are called, but not chosen. Not chosen because those beliefs made them evil.

Jesus the Great Teacher ever
Don't get upset if someone receive the same gift as you in Heaven, because Jesus still accept those who repent at the very last hour. For He is merciful and full of love, and those who followed Him should be happy that many souls can be still be saved.
This is for me ..I love that parable it is showing god's equality of all human being..
This is true
Praise the Lord,Glory to God ,
Please Lord take me as I am.. A condemned sinner with a broken heart.. I want to be in the thy Kingdom.. Please count me worthy to be one of your sheep.. I humbley ask for forgiveness and put my salvation to rest for once and all.. In Jesus Christ Holy name... Amen...
If we come before the Lord and are saved, no matter when in life we do it, we will be accepted into Heaven and each will receive his/her just reward equally. That I might have believed in the Holy Spirit my whole life and you, just one day.....does not matter. Our blessings are the same. Amen
I didn’t understand first but now I do, you do something for me and I shall give it to you, Jesus ask you to spread the gospel and you shall receive a blessing and be grateful, he promise that I’ll be okay, amen ❤️✝️
