Nice to see a review of a product that's actually been used. Thumbs up
I love these Panaracers! Lasted me 4,000 miles
Great review man ! Big fan of the GravelKings. Nice one !
I just found your channel.
I really like it.
Great info!
Thank you
❤
Great functional stuff love your channel keep it up
Informative review. I Purchased the GravelKing SS 700x28, a few months ago, from an ebay seller who listed it as tubeless ready. The panaracer packaging (Cardboard)stated tubeless ready. However the wheels themselves do not have TLC/tubeless labeled on them. Still see some ebay sellers who list the 28mm's as tubeless
Thanks and yea the 28c are not
I have a pair of the normal SS and though they're beautiful they've punctured twice in the first 100 mile.... and one was non sealer. Your road trip certainly made my mind up to get some Dynaplugs, AND the SS+ s will be on my Xmas list now.😃
Haha awesome and yea the dynaplug is a game changer
I’ve got about 700 miles on my gravel king 35mm slicks. No punctures. I even hit a pothole when night riding mid winter and they were fine.
It’s been all pavement and all in the country for me so who knows.
A lot of people take “puncture resistant” tires too seriously I think. I’d rather have some giant nail go straight through my tire while rocking puncture resistant tires rather than multiple and multiple of flats from thorns, staples, steel threading from car tires and so forth. Puncture resistant tires definitely works but obviously don’t expect it to save you from giant things that would pop anything.
This is pretty close to my experience with gravelking tires as well. Especially on the rear I have benefited from getting the plus casing. My first ride on a new non-plus casing slick setup, I got a massive cut from glass on the shoulder. And at ~185 lbs, the regular casing didn't last past about 600 miles. They also struggled to hold pressure for longer rides, and would get 'bouncy' towards the end.
My only complaint about the plus casing is it does seem to be a bit slower than the non-plus casing. Well, that and the stiffer sidewalls make mounting harder.
Yea I’ve had pretty good luck with them in both casings. I never had the slow bouncy issue as long as it had sealant in it. But yea these are defiantly not as comfy
900miles on my 700c x 38C slick plus tan wall, 90% paved roads and 10% dirt, there's minor wear on the rear but that's to be expected and will probably take a thousand km more before it really gets worn out. I got punctures but they were caused by rubbis (metal debris and screws) on the side of the road, no tire can survive that kind of debris anyway. Overall, amazing tires for me.
Just threw these on my wheels and I'll be super annoyed if I only get 1500-1600 miles on them😅
@@veganpotterthevegan used them for 2500miles, at that point the rear wheel is pretty much worn out on the center, swapped my front tire to the rear and got a new tire for the front. Rear wheel (formerly front) is doing additional 600 miles now and also starting to get worn out.
Good stuff!
Hi - need some help to select the right gravel tire. I currently have the Bontrager GR2 Team Issue Gravel Tire (700c 40mm) - but get flats all the time (even when i ride on the normal street - 1 week riding - flat - 4 flats on the back tire, 1 flat on the front tire in the last 4 weeks). I got the Tannus Armour Tire Inserts - but that doesnt fix the flat problem. Can you recomment me another gravel tire? which one has the best quality and prevents flats Vittoria, Continental or WTB or something else? My terrain: Road and also some Offroad (forrest with gravel and fine sand). I would say 60% road, 40% offroad.
I have a Trek Dual Sport 3 2020 with these rims: Bontrager Tubeless Ready Disc, 32-hole, presta valve
Sold! Will use your link.
Have you so much!
Good vid man
Doesn’t the standard gravelking boast a “anti flat casing” ?
So panacer sent it to you, and you saying that you would buy it again 😂…. Definitely not biased 🤣…. Habe fun
Im using Slick version for 95% smooth (tarmac) and 5% rough roads.
Im using them with tubeless in 32c and I’m very surprised till now after .
No puncture, great grip and a low rolling resistance as well.
I believe this tires have the name Gravelking but honestly I believe they are road tires.
I am using gp5000 clincher tires for years in same conditions/roads and they are pretty close. I could not find till now such a difference between them.
Let’s se what time brings me 👍🏼
How's the GK Plus Slick? im thinking between this & the Gatorskin.
Have you done a bike fit? Your saddle looks a little high for you. 3:00
The regular Gravelking casing is very fun to ride but so fragile. I was riding with Gravelking SS and a branch on the road poked right through. I'm going to install some SK+ tonight and see how they do. They feel way more robust.
Just got back from a ride with the SK+ and all I can say is that it felt like I was driving a tractor. OMG the drag on these, I got to find something else for my bikepacking trips.
@@JohnnyRabbitQC get the rene herse endurance casing tyres. Way supple with the same amount of protection.
@@ahmadzuhairiand even thinner rubber for lower miles😂
Man, I got these same tires in 35mm and road almost entirely pavement. In the first month of owning them I got 4 punctures, on pavement. I immediately swapped them for Specialized Roubaix 32’s and have no issues with them. I wonder though if the GK’s I got were lemons. Everyone covets them so highly.
Yea in my standard casing 32s I only had one flat after 1000 Ish miles , I’ve tried the Roubaixs back in the day they are pretty tough but ddidnt feel as supple as these in standard casings.
I think they're leaning towards the tubeless side of things to be fair. I've had no issues riding tubeless so far! But I had a puncture riding with tubes, almost same mileage so far!
How would you compare them to the GK Ss ? Do the side knobs slow you down and would you go 43s or 38s? I ride mostly paved with occasional gravel.
Check out my review of the SS I have it on my channel, the shoulder is similar between both tires but ss is slightly more pronounced.
Worst flat on my bike is my back. Slipped disc leads to deflation after months and months on the rack
May I ask, if 35c/38c Panaracer can fit my tubeless ready rims with 27mm inner width? I have a tubeless setup
Rims with an internal size of 27 mm, this is too much for such tires. Ideally, it is better to use 17-21 mm
Is it hookless compatible?
im 230 pounds and looking at the 38mm tires for my decathlon RC120, just getting into the sport, looking to push miles on the road. thoughts?
I still ride these tires I like them alot
do you swap back and front tires every couple hundred miles?
It depends you technically don’t want to after too long so that you don’t have your front end wash out.
Can i use the tubeless ready tires to a nontubless ready rims?
Not recommended but you can try, it’s less likely to seal or it make leak a lot more. That being said I have done that for people’s bikes, add extra sealant when setting up
@@LockedinCycling if ever that dint work can it fit with non tubless ready tires?
Hi expert, need your opinion i trying to convert my mtb to hybrid. Am looking into panaracer gravel king. Can share with me which slick tyre should i go is 32c or 35c faster?
For a mtb conversion I’d go with larger size so it doesn’t lower the bike to much. I’d go larger
@@LockedinCycling so 35c will be better?
What can you recommend 32c or 35c? For 30% gravel 70% road or tarmac
Wondering the same. What did you go with?
@@richc5638 i did buy gravel king slick plus. I have doubts if it can tackel big rocks or light trail. I will test it by tomorrows ride
35
Can you recommend this on very light trail??
Totally just air down to help grip
@@LockedinCycling i just saw the in panaracer page. Almost all the tires is sold out. I hope they restock by the end of the month so i can use your code to buy them im from asin country btw. 😁
I'm an idiot and so it's not that I have bad flats, it's that I have flats and then I'm missing something needed to fix the flat such as forgetting tire levers, a pump, extra tube, etc. It's usually only one thing I've forgot and a couple times it's been pretty darn far from home.
i thought they had a 40c in the slicks
I believe in non plus they have 43c
@@LockedinCycling are they still slicks?
My 38’s actually measured 41 on my bike.
@@leefitler4597 yea that will depend on internal rim width
@@LockedinCycling i have an 18mm internal width and the 35's measure out 38 with 50psi in them. I say anyone wanting a pair of these needs to find a friend that runs them or bike shop that has some in a parts bin and try them.
