Surprised how few subs you have. Love that you’re pushing the bar here.
I printed it and tested it, so far it works 100% and looks great in the printer.
If you get the brass tips, and use lower temp they don't sprue as much. You can bump up the hole size too. For those 5mm inserts I use 4.7mm holes. Love the printer. This will be the next one I build!
For the 3x5x4 inserts, the 4.7 hole 4.1 deep works well. I push them most of the way in and then press them the rest of the way with a flat metal tool. Everything comes out perfect and flat, no protruding displaced plastic
thanks ! yeah I think it was too hot. Aso the holes are 4.2 for the 4.6 inserts.. but I only had 5mm on hand.. so I guess thats why it sucked
Thanks..i have ordered the right tool now.
@@Vez3D I use a digital 2-1 workstation I am able to set temperature so my parts are asa I set my temp to like 240. So my brass slide in nice and slow I also twist the soldering iron slowly like screwing in the inserts. And if my brass insert are too long after I insert them I files them down flush.
But you probably now have printed an insert device and proper solder insert tip for this.
But this is for others just starting to do inserts.
Looks amazing, printed makes it much more accessible! I know how much it had to be, congrats!
thanks Brother !! And we all owe you a big cold one for the EVA and the years VzBoT has been running and still run on your design :)
The quality of the prints are just AMAZING!
I was just checking out the github files lastnight. Was like man, it would be nice if Vez made a video on this.... BAM, video dropped. Thank you!!!
i freakin love you dude... thanks for having the intereset and making the effort to bring that shait to the next level and staying the "sharing is caring" value true
After you heat the insert and it starts to pop up, use a flat spatula to push it flush and true which also makes it square and displaced plastic will be flush and not protrude.
Great video though!
Nice to see a Vzbot update while I´m building my own Vzbot!!!! thanks a lot for the upgrade!!
Love the work you're doing! I gotta say, seeing the success you've been having has inspired me to want to try a few designs of my own! If I can create something even half as awesome as you, I'll be thrilled!
This looks amazing! Also, congrats on 25k! 🎉
Thank you so much!!
I knew this design is excellent from the preview you shared earlier. It's so good I made myself a Voron 2.4 mod version. Now you have released the cad on this that is a huge printer community boost this 666 print head caddy is the best. Thankyou
Could you please share the V2.4 mod?
Beautiful prototype, can't wait when I be able to test this one. I think it has to be perfect.
I really like the look and what appears to be the idea of it, cut away anything unnecessary making it only weight 66! grams!
What filament was it printed with, i assume some CF material of sorts?
I'd love to test it on my Vcore3 some day :D
It was answered many times ...its also said in the video and description haha. Abs cf
@@Vez3D oof my bad, must not have paid as good attention as i though, thank you!
Crazy how far you have come since your first couple of videos! Also take a closer look at the title😉
Thanks! Will do!
Fixed
Impressed with your video composition and lighting! Well done 👏🏼 I would suggest going with the larger auto-focus window when handling a part in your hands though, or facial tracking. It really hunted focus to the part in your hand a lot. Overall, looking very cinematic!
Yeah.. its a samyamg lense..and its not goof with eye trackign when i have my glasses..sorry. ill find a solution
@@Vez3D It’s really fine. I just know you strive for perfection☺️
Agree on most - but when assembling the printhead there was a lot of fast jumping around that got me dizzy and sea sick. Sorry. Lighting and video camera quality was great though.
@Vez3D try adding a Polarizing filter in front of the lens to cancel out the reflection of the glasses, should fix the problem with the facetrack ✌️.
@@iRocks-Mak3rde ill try that :) i first need to see if its available for that Samyang 35mm f1.4
Great work as always, Simon.
Your work is incredible. Doing a ghetto direct extruder for my Tronxy X5SA Pro 400 for now. Leaning very heavily towards a Hextrudort and this stunning unit! Just tight on $$$ for now haha. I don't really work with ABS, would PETG or Polymax be suitable?
Very nice work Simon! I think i see a few ideas in here we might have to STEAL :D
3.2 lets go!
Haha sure ! RAT RIG Vz-core :p
@@Vez3D That almost works too well! 😂
Dope. Will print it in a polycarbonate blend and test it. If it's a solid design, i hope u can get a manufacturer to make a fiber reinforced injection molded version out of something like nylon that has a fire retardant rating.
I love it!!!
Thank you for your work!
That thing looks so COOL im going to print it on the fly
I had to scale down the duct spacer for 5015-MGN12 to 3.9%. Thanks for your work
This is absolutely amazing!
Great design, looking great 👍😀
That's a cool screwdriver; looks like it has interchangeable bits/extensions. Where did you get it/what's it called?
Do you compose the music for this channel yourself?
On a side note, 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year; I am in the process of Frankensteining together a coreXY printer with the gantry/frame of a Voron 1.8/Trident, the Z-Axis and electronics layout of a VzBot and very probably this printhead. 😁
This I entertaining even if I didn't have any interest in 3d printing.
Your video work is gorgeous. And the design is exquisite.
It's easy to get stuck on designing and printing upgrades for the printer rather than designing and printing the end goal parts.
At some point, a guy has to print with the printer he has. (Dance with the girl ya brung.) At least as long as it is doing the job you need it to do.
Hello Vez,
When will the Goliath hotend be available on aliexpress?
Can't wait to build these in my Voron.
after chines new year
@@Vez3D oké thx.
These fan shrouds seems VERY smooth... did you coat them with something ?
resin printed,, sanded, painted :)
For better air flow ?
Maybe you could get the same result with acetone smoothing ? Can CF ABS be Vapor smoothed ?
Subscribed, i love this project!
Beta print head has a lot less flex than the old EVA one. I immediately ripped out my VzEVA when I saw this haha,
Looks amazing, Simon! :D One thing you could do to reduce the weight is to skeletonize it a bit more - it seems like there is enough material to do so without comprimizing the overall stiffness :)
Sometimes adding more holes here there will add weight. Because you add walls instead of infill. Infill is light at 15%
@@Vez3D Thats a Good point 😃
Dude that print quality is amazing makes me rly consider Goliath for my printer since I’m struggling to get enough flow with my rapido and my only concern was the massively long heat zone
meh.. its not super good quality.. my top surfaces were rough.. I need to calibrate more for this ABS CF. I was just in a hurry
@@Vez3D side surfaces though look amazing.
What speeds and such for top surfaces? I notice similar on my machine when I was running lower accel on tops but then I bumped it back to 15k and lowered top flow to like 94% and they improved a lot
@@tadhgd350 200 too with 5k. Its over extruded in here
@@Vez3D not that I know more than you cuz I don’t but I found that matching my accel to the accel I tuned PA at, aka higher than 5k helped reduce the edge blobs. And lowering top flow by 5% helped any remaining overextrusion. And I print em slow at 70mm/s to get as good surface as I can
@@tadhgd350 CF filled filaments make the layerlines vanish, it's double edged sword, it looks amazing but you don't know if it's well tuned
Excellent! Great vid
You know what, the main reason why I'm shifting to this is because my current setup uses EVA 3. But while EVA 3 is excellent with awesome compatibility, it's not hugely optimised for weight/performance and can be overly time-consuming to build and assemble, IMHO.
In comparison this is easy to assemble!
I guess one thing I'll be working on soon is a BLTouch adapter
Awesome work, merci for sharing!
Awesome work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Is that blower nozzle 3d printed too or is that injection molded?
Thanks, Vez 😁
Mellow could commercialize the aluminum top plate only (like they do with cnced adapters for hotends eg the goliath), giving people the possibility to use watercooling but with a printed head
Looks very cool 😎
I'm just curious, when you're printing essential functional parts such as this printhead, how fast do you print? Thanks!
this was printed "slow" at 200mms and 5K
@@Vez3D 😂 love it!
Damn!!! It looks like the mini me duct!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Get your heat sets in 90% then remove the iron and press them flush with something flat and metal. Makes them look 10x better.
Awesome ill try that
Where do you get your heatserts? I can never find the ones with the large outside diameter everyone else uses.
Awesome work by the way.
I added some links in the bom for people
@@Vez3D awesome. Thank you!
not sure about your other ali links, but the goliath link doesn't lead to the product intended, or any product for that matter
How much better is the Goliath water cooled vs air cooled? Will there be a water block sold to upgrade from air-cooled when it comes out?
Its better...how much? I dont know. Its just peace of mind to have water cooling and keep the whole prinhead cool
my challenge! or wish next for you vez: in preparation for valentine's day to make physical prints of the vzlove discord logos. to give msg of love to all vzbot followers out there on valentines day.
...but also can make the logo in vase mode like an empty storage box, to re-use as another gift irl for your misses / wife on valentines, to put some chocolates inside or something. maybe just some tools! haha. so a 2-for-1 type of a deal then. vzlove to you my friend
haha nice opening vez :)
I got a free corexy / cartesian style 3d printer that was given to me that I'm very interested in modifying to a vzbot style. I want to repurpose this printer and turn it to one of these beautiful machines!
I look forward for a kit with all CNC parts, hopefully. Mellow has been down and out for a while now.
Kits are ready.. we will have lots after chinese bew year
I have put together this printhead BUT see some problems. (I'm using the Dragonfly-UHF hotend)
1-There are NO holes for the 2510 fan on the dragonfly part
2-MAJOR problem, there is no provision for a probe so this will be unusable for me at this time
3-The grove mount puts the dragonfly so far down that the fan duct is blocked by it, (the fan mount is ALL the way down)
1- i will check. That hotend is not popular..and if you can provide me with the cad of it..i can make it work
2- did you watch the video? There are quickdraw and beacon support. But if people want more options, the there are multiple mouting points on thr top plate or bottom plate with those brass inserts. Just design one that fits your need :) there are already some made for the alu printhead that fits this already for induction probes. If you want me to add a support for something ...ill.be happy too. Just ask :)
3-that hotend again is something i have never seen besides pictures. It wont be hard to adapt it. Its an opensource design and cad files are there.
All those are not issues.. they are options. Please dont call that problems :)
I wonder if some of the parts could be modified in a way such that they can be made on a 3 axis cnc mill/router from carbon fibre. It would make the parts lighter, without compromising ( maybe even improving) the stiffness
we already have a version like that... all CNC.. with Carbon+ aluminum. This version is for people that dont want to spend on the CNC version.. or prefer this version
You're awsome! Thank you so much. The only downside for me, is the fact that the standoffs are too hard to find other than china that takes forever to ship :(
amazon ?
@@Vez3D in Europe they're not available
@@gilmbento could modify the design for hex if you can have those
@@Vez3D that would be awesome ! Those are easier to find.
@@gilmbento its uploading
That Aliexpress Link to the Goliath Extruder doesnt work. Do you have a working Link?
The vz-hextrudort? Or the goliath? Goliath has been banned from aliexpress.com.. we will have it back soon
@@Vez3D OK, clear. Looking forward. Could you please also add the Mockup from the Goliath Water into your model?
I'm printing parts now, wondering how the hotend fan is mounted, don't see a printable mount for it.
look in the duct section github.com/VzBoT3D/Vz-Printhead-Printed/tree/main/STLs/hotend%20heatsink%20fan%20ducts
Never mind, I found the part I need HOWEVER, there are no holes where the 2510 fan would mount. Did you forget to add them?
Do you plan on making it compatible with mgn12c?
Id want to try it out instead of eva on V-Core 3.1
no sorry.. MGN12 is 3mm taller.. and would completely change everything in the design. .. and MGN12 is way too heavy. Its not needed in a 3D printer imho. Its way over kill
@@Vez3D I knew there was a weight difference but I didnt think it would be that bad. Btw, what would you think will be better option for 300mm printer, going extrusionless mgn12c or cf tube and mgn9?
@@leonartou tube + rail
@LEoNaRd the next time i take mine apart this will be what i do. Cf tube with mgn9 and upgraded gantry housings- can't think of the term. You can drop a lot of weight and gain some rigidity and maybe some consistency at higher temps. I've heard some smart guys say that 300 or smaller is fine with just the rail. CF tube ain't that much more.
4:10 It's been a long time since I've seen a thread pulled at the end of a print. For years I've used the end script I wrote, in which the printer pulls the filament away from the printer immediately after the retraction, at high speed, skewed upwards, far away. Try it !!!
I have retract end gcode. But.. my timelapse macro runs just after layer and that causes this. I need to find a way to avoid this when doing timelapse.
@@Vez3D Ok. Understand.
How hard would it be to adapt to a ratrig v core 3 with your Goliath?
We have made a model for rat rig vcore :) will publish it soon. But its mgn9 for now. I will see about mgn12 option
Will this accept the v6 hotend?
Yes
Is the Vz team just one person? If so, you're doing a fantastic job developing an impressive printer and creating great content.
I have a team :) but its more of my own project but they do help a ton.
It’s basically Vez, 5-6 team members, the Vzbot owners, and other people hanging around at the Discord server
@@Vez3D Ok, you're like Maks of Voron, but much more forward-facing with exceptional and consistent content. That's impressive.
Where do you get your cpap hose?
I've seen CPAP hoses at CVS (U.S.) and on Amazon.
Love that design, stls still not released?
Yes they are ..links in description
My wrong I’m looked only on BOM, super can’t wait for m3 spacers to assemble it thanks
Hey Simon, I might be in the wrong channels or something, but it is hard for me to find any information on when we might expect the goliath to return in all it's glory :) I get that it might be hard to give any definitive answer, as long as you're still trying to figure out the patent stuff and what not. I hope you still feel like you're making progress, and still find joy in the project :) All the love from the netherlands my dude, can't wait to push these insane amounts of plastic some day :D
its available in Europe.. but sold out.. restoct soon in february. USA and CANADA same. We will have stock 1 st march for sure
@@Vez3D owh dang, I missed it then D: Do you have a list of resellers or something, somewhere? I only found a danish store when searching for it earlier. Thanks for the reply!
@@symenbrug1992 We will add the list on github soon
First! Good job man!
Is there any way to setup with E3D V6?
good joke
not compatible with my delta. i dont like that 😛 As usual great work. maybe im gonna adapt it to my hevort or the other printers
If you do different versions for different linear rail size, there basically won’t be a use for EVA 😳
Where do the belts mount??
on each standoffs
@@Vez3D thx, I'm busy building one now for my VCore3!
why does that look sexy
Title says "pinted" edition xD
my dude, your arms are getting bigger with every video, what are you lifting, goddamn
Haha no. They have been like that for like 20years. I am 175lbs since then. I was at 185lbs whem i was a 25yearls old..and way bigger.. hehe. Was doing MMA/boxing and working out hard. I still work out hard..but i have so many injury that I cant push as hard now. Sucks to go old. Just last monday I dislocated my shoulder and had to go to hospital to.put it back in. It still hurts. My back is screwed too. 5 herniated discs.. haha
@@Vez3D i feel you on the herniated discs and the shoulder problems, i have a genetic birth defect, half the muscles in my chest, shoulder and back on my left side are missing, I've inadvertently ripped my shoulder out of the socket more times than i would have liked
