    3 years later... this drum set still sounds way more natural and better than rolands new Roland VAD Series 506 Set... 🙄

    • @sampilsbury9415

      It really does (at least according to RUclips videos, I've not heard either in person). It feels like ATV has a philosophy of making it sound like you're in a room with an acoustic kit, raw and unplugged. Whereas, Roland (and pretty much every other e-drum manufacturer) sound like you're playing a mic'd up acoustic kit and hearing the monitoring after it's gone through the mixer, compressors, reverb etc. Given that the majority of times we sit down at a drum kit it's in a rehearsal space not a studio, I much prefer the ATV sounds.

    • @Memoreno94
      @Memoreno94 3 года назад +1

      I played both and although the sound favors ATV, Roland 506 just feels more smooth and better feel overall. Roland's feel play has better quality. I like to use SD3 on my VAD506. Which technically better than ATV.

      Guillermo M thank you for mentioning that - I’ve been racking my brain for the last couple days figuring it which I want to get (ATV aDrums or VAD503) and I think I’m going with the VAD. Plus we know Roland will hold it’s value and sell easier later

    • @Memoreno94
      @Memoreno94 3 года назад

      @@lapin-rouge I've been seeing a lot of ATV drummers selling their kits to buy the VAD. You just cannot compete with Roland's quality. You get a digital snare and ride, which imo, make it feel like an acoustic feel. You'll have a great time with the VAD, I regret nothing.

    Dare I say, this might be the most realistic sounding kit I've ever heard. Nothing wrong with Roland and Alesis and the like but some of the sounds you can tell are EQ'd to hell and back, and some of them have to be to be considered usable. This one is just very natural, also less machine gun sounding.

    Nearly 2 years on, and this is still (IMO) the most realistic e-kit available. The ATV aD5 paired with a multipad makes an amazing live rig. I use the multipad to pickup all of the incidental sounds that the aD5 doesn't do (percussion, electronics, etc), and also use the multipads internal effects on the acoustic kit (to give a bit of reverb, or more extreme effects like distortion or delay). If you're doing any kind of cover work (especially weddings/corporate work where volume can always be an issue), it's _very_ hard to beat this setup.

    • @progression_decibel
      @progression_decibel 2 года назад

      I plan to pick up an ad5 for use with Live cover work in those situations you mentioned. I'm curious to know how you hook up ad5 to your mulitpad to get the effects. I have an Alesis Strike Multipad if that matters. Do you use the output cables or MIDI in/out?

    Hi! Yesterday I tested the junior ATV module and I will only tell you my observations. Hi-hat sound (clamp, closed hi-hat) - recorded in different presets in different ways. And I want the hat to be well pressed (as in the World Pop preset), but it doesn't work, it's more blurry. Here I see the same problem - perfect pinching in Dry Oxnard Kit. Also, I noticed that the sound of the toms and snare drum is very well recorded (samples) in terms of dynamics. Those. in the general mix - punches, is not lost. And some sets have already been processed (indicated on the ATV website). I would like to wish ATV to indicate on the website what sounds the sets (ready-made) consist of, I would take the Hat from World Pop and insert it into all sets (my own)). Yes, I collected 2 of my sets on the site, uploaded them to the module - everything is simple.
    For those who ask what the ATV module is in comparison with Roland's modules - I will try to answer, but this is just my personal opinion, I may be wrong. In Roland modules (which I have - Td9,30, Spd-30), the final sound is formed by sound processing (equalizer, surroundings, reverb, compressor, etc.) and when performed live on sound equipment - everything sounds more or less decent ... But when recording begins, usually sound engineers ask you to record clean sound (that is, turn off all processing) - and here the problem arises that clean sound sounds very loose, is lost, not bright. When I recorded ATV, I heard such a density of sound, as if I had recorded live drums. Many people ask, if this module is good, why is it so cheap (junior module). I explain - because there are few presets and sounds (but they are excellent), because there are no ready-made treatments in the module (compressor, reverb, equalizer), because the module does not have an audio card function, like practically all the latest Roland modules, and you need to buy (for sound recording) an audio interface for it. Those. it is as lightweight as possible. In the near future, I'm going to do a small home review on the junior ATV module. Thanks for the video and good luck! Regards, Max

Personally do a lot of work where i put my heel all the way up on the Hi-Hat pedal to make a different sound then when you just open or close it? The ATV modules meanwhile are very "pure" and have some nice sounds, but in terms of flexibility are a little limited, as they only have a stereo output and no way of mixing/editing onboard sounds, no fx etc. So it depends what you expect of your module and in what scenarios you want to be using/playing it. Weird thing for me: when I look at the clip, it sounds awesome. When I close my eyes and just listen, I can hear the machine gunning everyone's talking about. But I hear that with all other edrums too, for example the Roland TD-17KVX which for me is the contender for the atv exs-3. There's also some great Yamaha kits in the same price range. I can't decide. Does anyone have any advice for me? I am looking for playability, a funky sounding drum kit without a lot of tweaking to get the sound right, and affordability.

      Hi Isaac, generally speaking what you hear in the demo is the unedited stereo output sound coming from the aD5 (with some minor compression/limiting to bring up level). So in the end, it´s all about tweaking the trigger parameters to your individual kind of playing to get a realistic response, and you can edit the volumes of the different kit components inside of the module (I remember that generally the cymbals are rather loud by default). That´s all basically :) kind regards!

    Hey guys, how is the kick noise compared to drum-tec Diablo bass drums ?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  Год назад

      The ATV bass drum comes rather close in terms of noise level, but has a more bouncy rebound/playing feel. It can be reduced using the drum-tec ball beater for example:
      www.drum-tec.com/drum-tec-ball-beater
      Yet, it won't feel the same as the diabolo, they are constructed differently on the inside. Kind regards!

    A couple of your ATV videos like this one have the stereo field from the audience perspective. Mistake or intentional?

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  6 лет назад

      There are no mistakes as such with audience/drummer view stereo panning actually, it´s all down to personal taste. Kind regards!

    • @lemonslice2233
      @lemonslice2233 6 лет назад

      When it comes to mixing a song, of course. But I don't think anyone actually monitors their e-kit, even when recording a take, from the audience perspective; and many don't even use, or expect to use an e-kit for recording. I think most people looking for a demo on RUclips expect to hear what it would sound like while they're drumming, so I feel drummer's perspective is the way to go when making a proper demo. Just my two lipas, I don't of course make decisions regarding how drum-tec runs their business. ;)

    I’m definitely buying your product within the next month or two. The set will primarily be used for recording, triggering Superior Drummer kits, so the onboard sounds aren’t extremely important to me.
    I have to say though, these demos are annoying to me. For auditioning drum sounds, I find the drumming here to be fairly unhelpful. It’s like listening to a pinball machine. I don’t feel like it’s about the drums themselves as much as it’s about the drummer showing off. Unless you play drums in a funk band, you might be fired for playing like that.
    Anyway, I’m still buying a kit from you.✌️❤️

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  4 года назад +1

      Hi Tim, I suggest getting a Roland sound module for working with midi / sample libraries, as they are more flexible & triggering is superior. All sample libraries have mapping presets for the Roland module standard, I am not sure about ATV. Have you checked out these demos already:

      ruclips.net/video/hKbi8MpbI58/видео.html
