You asked why Tanjiro isn't a Hashira and it's simply that he hasn't fully reached his potential. As he goes through the Hashira training, he is gaining skills that polish his abilities and allow him to reach Hashira level. You kinda see it with his battle with Tengen. Tengen is missing his arm and Tanjiro is still just barely keeping even. But after his training, he is just shy of what a Hashira level swordsman should be. He's strong but just not there yet

Since you asked about the scars: the long one on his shoulder was from Daki's obi. The smaller ones were from Urogi (the Upper 4 bird demon guy)

This season definitely feels like a 'calm before the storm' moment. We get to meet the Hashira better and there are so many lighthearted moments with the characters we know, but there is always this voice from the background that reminds us that the battle with Muzan is almost upon us, and that this is only temporary.
Tanjiro is just like a warm sun, he inspire people around him. He's my favorite

@@anthonymorenosorto2743 Insosuke is just a different breed, he can move his organs and heals really fast, poison resistance. I wouldnt be surprised if he just doesnt get scars from how well his body heals itself
Both this and the next episode are examples of UFOtable doing GREAT lengths to add to the original story.
As a manga reader, what they did with this season is GREATLY appreciated.
So much characterization to the WHAT these trainings are, to the plight of the "average" slayers not feeling good enough. It makes what are usually just background bodies into real people that you care about on some level, so when you see them get stronger later you feel happy
The long scar on his left shoulder was caused by an attack by Upper Rank Six Daki's obi, while various smaller scars were caused by the talons of the manifestation of Upper Rank Four Hantengu's joy, Urogi

Muichiro is the same age as Nezuko (14) and a year younger than Tanjiro
He's such a prodigy that he managed to single handedly take down all of Gyokko (Upper 5) on his own and that does show his strength compared to tanjiro who needed him, inosuke, tengen, zenitsu, nezuko and hinatsuru's kunai to take down Daki and Gyutaro (Upper 6)

The only reason he defeated Gyokko is because he activated his mark. He won thanks to Mark. Before the mark, gyokko was much stronger than him. In the first minutes of the battle, Muichiro would die from poison or drowning. Because he was freed from the vase and activate the mark, he was saved and was able to win the battle. Any hashira with a mark could also easily kill upper 5-6. That fight is not showing the how much mui is strong. It shows how much powerfull slayer mark is. Additionally Tengen was one of the weakest hashiras and had no marks. That's why they had a hard time against upper 6. Also Tanhiro activate his mark in that fight first time while beheading gyutaro. same as before, he managed to cut his tough neck because of mark.
@@fatihylmaz7999 yeah still you dont get the point of the comment , muichiro has just 1 year experience , while tengen has more than 10 years fighting (including shinobi days) , so its impressive (even with the mark) that he was able to beat up 5 who is much stronger than the upper 6 tengen fought with the help of 4 people. even 5 years experience >>> mark , which shows how strong and talented muichiro is. also muichiro doesnt even have major muscles cuz he hasn't hit puberty yet while tengen is the most muscely man in the whole ds verse after gyomei . so yeah muichiro beating up5 solo without muscles with mark >>>>>>> base tengen struggling against up6 with huge muscles with the help of 3 people

the reason tanjiro is so strong is because he's battled against multiple moons which causes him to rapidly improve because of the extreme combat

@@HaydrogenBombwhen the sauce is too liquid it just pools at the bottom of the plate, so I like to dip my noodles in that case. But if it's just regular old tomato sauce then there's no need imo.
It's crazy how fast Tengen is. When Zenitsu moves... Thunder Clap and Flash... he literally makes the clap breaking the sound barrier.
Tengen can do that with every swing of his swords.

Tanjiro has to kill a moon on his own to become a hashira, granted he could be as strong as a hashira, but he hasn't killed a lower moon on his own simply because at this point there isn't one. He should be a hashira and he has the potential but he doesn't have the skill and experience of one, he is almost at their level but not quite. So him missing the requirement and current standard is why he isn't a hashira.

@@everburn That the qualification for becoming a Hashira is killing an Upper Moon is stuff they made up/misunderstood. Upper Moons haven't been killed in hundreds of years prior to the Siblings pair in the Entertainment district.
Becoming a Hashira is just killing enough Demons and enough powerful demons. There's no set requirement far as we're told in the setting. Just pure Meritocracy.
It's just a plain fact that Tanjiro is not on the level of a Hashira yet. The Hashira have managed to single-handedly hold their own against the Upper Ranks even if they couldn't win. Tanjiro has been beaten half to death while fighting as a group to help in killing an Upper Moon.
This truly is the calm before the storm...

At the end of the day, Hashira are elite swordsman. There is a skill component to why Tanjiro isn’t quite at Hashira level. I would say a key thing is his speed and reaction time.
Basically, every UM Tanjiro has faced have taken their time with him and not taken him seriously. Daki and Gyutaro were sadistic and happy to toy with Tanjiro long enough for Tanjiro to really start using his full potential. Hate gum used divide and conquer against him, Nezuko and Genya rather than focusing on Tanjiro fully. We also saw how Tanjiro would have been killed if it wasn’t for Mitsuri.
End of the day, Tanjiro is right in thinking that he has survived thanks to others, but he is wrong to think that is the only reason. He has so much potential as the next Sun breather, but he needs to get faster and hone his skills.
TENGEN IS BACK
Tanjiro, Inouske and Zenitsu are all at Hashira level, but tell me, in a situation like the one they are, Does really promote someone to a Hashira is a priority? Ubuyashiki don't promote them not because they aren't at that level, but because there are more important things to do
I understand why Tanjiro isnt a hashira by now. All the current hashira (besides muuichiro) are in their 20s and have tons more experience over sometimes half their lives with demons. Tanjiro is only 16 and only has just scratched the surface of demon slaying. He definitely has the power and skill to be a hashira, but only a year or so of actual demon slaying. Even Muuichiro, 14, has several years under his belt.
And another thing, he has Nezuko. If she were to bite a human, he is to kill her, himself, and Urokodaki and Giyuu would follow. To lose two hashira like that and a water breathing mentor would KILL morale in a way that couldnt be recovered. He is definitely hashira level, but he has more than just Muzan in mind, unlike the others

I think Muichiro is waaaay stronger than we think. He doesn't seem THAT strong, because how easily he seemed to kill the upper rank. However we must consider this: The upper rank Muichiro defeated was stronger than the one Tengen, Inosuke, Zenitsu and Tanjiro defeated TOGETHER. That should put things in perspective.
Actually, pound for pound Muichiro would be on par with Gyomei, however, he is only 14 and has been a demon slayer roughly around the same time as Tanjiro. Irregardless of him obtaining the mark, the anime is misleading in regards to him seemingly overwhelming Obanai and Sanemi in the next episode.
It is also documented that Gyutarro was probably physically stronger than Gyokko, and was actually harder to kill.
Although a lot of people probably already commented about Tanjiro's rank and the reason I'm just gonna say that to be a Hashira you either need to kill 50 demons or one of the Kizuki, which he hasn't quite managed to do alone yet. In addition to be granted the rank of Hashira a majority of the current Hashira base need to agree with the decision, and while a lot of them like Tanjiro and have faith in him He isn't quite on their level yet despite being able to keep up. I would personally put Tanjiro in the Kino ranks, one or two ranks below Hashira aside from Tsuguko which is only given if you're training under a particular Hashira.

heey! just watched all your reactions to demon slayer (love them). About Tanjiro and the hashira thing, I completely get where you're coming from because when I watched Demon Slayer for the first time I was so confused about why he wasn't a hashira yet, especially after the entertainment district arc. The way I understand it it's because of the difference in skills (don't get me wrong bc Tanjiro is strong af but the hashiras have more experience, so much more that they could kill lower moons with just one move). Tanjiro is more skilled than he was in his fight with Rui (lower moon 5), but it was Giyuu who finished him. In the mugen train, he indeed killed a lower moon, but it was because he received help from Inosuke (with his beast abilities) and many others (he had to have done it alone so it could count). Also, none of the hashiras have defeated an upper rank demon alone (except Muichiro ofc), but neither has Tanjiro. The strength is there but he couldn't even kill a lower moon by himself, even when he almost decapitated Rui, he needed Nezuko's demon blood art. There are no lower moons now, maybe he could have defeated one if he was given the chance. The upper moons for sure are more difficult but they can't give him the title of hashira in such a short period of training bc he doesn't have the skills the hashiras do (strength and skill wise), being able to fight while being poisoned, without a limb and an eye it just shows how much experience hashiras have (Muichiro wasn't even trying when he fought the upper moon until he wanted to kill him for good). In all the situations where Tanjiro fought a strong demon he received help, so ig it comes to that in the end (hope i made myself clear cause english isn't my first language🙃).
Entertainment district arc and the last arc is where the chest scar comes from 3:12
Tanjiro gets the "friends and family in trouble" power-up. He also psychs everyone up, he's like the Support Hashira.

At the moment i feel like our 3 man squad are all lower level Hashira like they just barely make Hashira. Or they are at the level right below Hashira.

The more vertical scar was from when he protected a guy in the Entertainment District from being killed when Daki destroyed a section of it and the more horizontal ones were from Urogi (bird variation of Hantengu)'s claws when they were fighting in the forest

@@anthonymorenosorto2743 just because you don't like training doesn't mean it the worse arc we all know muzan and the top 3 upper moons are very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very y strong and to be them together you need all the training you need as for the demon slayer they need to distract the demon army so that the hashira can focus on the bigger threats

The just casual acceptance that the rest of the Demon Slayers are chaff with no shot at stopping Tengen is my favorite part of this episode. He's not wrong, but still that's a burn.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think the author meant to add the ranks early on and then purposefully ignore them, because the ranks mean nothing for Tanjiro: they are only milestones on the path to becoming strong enough to defeat Muzan, to be hung up on whether or not you deserve one rank over another doesn't matter, because until Muzan is destroyed, you need to continue to become stronger regardless of Demon Slayer rank
The thing is, the ranking of the demons identifies how tanjiro grows: for instance, he can hold himself against lower 5, which means he can probably defeat lower 6, since he defeated a former lower 6 with broken bones, then he hold himself against the train demon, so he can possibly defeat demons lower than him. Lastly, he defeated the 4 forms of upper 4, from which he might kinda defeat a demon lower than Hentangu, though the ways on how to defeat Gyutaro, Daki, and upper 5 were a little bit tricky. However, in line with the promotion for being a hashira, they might not yet granted that title to him since he did not yet defeated one of the 12 demon moons on his own, (which he admitted himself)and did not yet reach a certain number of demons he must defeat( a hundred+, or something) in order to be a hashira.

6. Mitsuri (If she could activate red blade she would be higher)
7. Rengoku (markless someone can't be better than other. We respect him but You also have to admit that Akaza was just having fun with him, trying to convince him to become a demon. If he was serious their war would end immediately )
8. Tengen (markless, he said rengoku is better than him so)
9. Shinobu (markless, can't behead demon but smartass)

Those are cold soba noodles that Giyu & Tanjiro are eating. They dip the noodles in soy sauce-based dipping sauce (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong). Really one of the best Japanese dishes I've eaten 🥰

Personally I feel like Tanjiro at this point could kill Rui (from season 1) by himself. Technically even Muichiro didn't kill an Upper Rank by himself, he had Kotetsu to give him extra breath otherwise he would have drowned.
Remember when Sun breathing prevents demons from regeneration I guess Tanjiro can go up against Akaza one on one and they would want to 1v1 after their first encounter
Someone really trying to say tanjiro couldn't solo a lower moon after fighting head to head with upper moons? lol, I see they brought it up the same point. Like, he beheaded three of the upper 4 clones at once. Admittedly, he had the mark during part of these fights, while the others didn't.
To become a Hashira, the requirements are typically either -
Kill a 12 Kizuki
Kill 50 demons
So he should definitely be a Hashira but they give a lot of the credit for his victories to the other people there
It was a kizuki alone, which he hasn't done he's helped sure but didn't kill one alone thus rightfully not qualifying
You know something i realized ? Tanjiro is the only one people think should be a Hashira.

True, I don’t think I’ve seen people discuss those two being hashiras. It sort of makes sense for people to focus on Tanjiro more because he’s the main character though.

Most people were defensive and thought they were bad people (among... other words) because they wanted Nezuko dead, WE knew about everything and followed him along so were gonna be biased for him.
@@Avarith I think in part was because they never really fought one on one with upper ranks, like Tanjiro did to some extent in both upper rank fights.

Daki is the only one that Tanjiro fought one on one and... As much as he tried his hardest by himself, with foresight, he was unfortunately doomed from the start.
Kinda felt like Rui from season 1 to me.
That is the only one that I remember being a long enough fight to be called a "one vs one against an upper rank" because most of the time, Tanjiro fought with a group.
(The upper 4, I think it was the Joy emotion ?, don't really count because he only focuses on joining back Nezuko and Genya, not fighting the demon)
He's also the protagonist, so of course people want to see him grow.
I understand the debate on whether Tanjiro is at a Hashira level and in my opinion, I don’t think he is quite yet 😬 I think he’s really close and being able to at least keep up/assist in killing an Upper Rank Demon shows how strong he is but from the battle with Rengoku, Tengen, Muichiro and Mitsuri that they’ve all were at a level where they could battle an Upper Rank by theirselves so I think he’s very close now not quite there

Tanjiro has gotten strong but he’s still not stronger than Tengen who’s missing an arm and eye . People ain’t saying he’s one of the weakest when he isn’t , in terms of raw power he’s 2nd to the Stone Haishira , in terms of pure seed he’s first so technically he’s in the middle of the pack in the rankings .

Man i really wished you guys have watched it in Japanese. You could have love it 10 times more. MHA's English dubbed is more cool and fun. But demon slayers Japanese original is filled with so much emotions which is not like English dubbed. Here English dub feels like basic 3d dubbing. Please i request just do the remaining in Japanese 🙏

But they have done way wrong with tanjiros voice over😢. I like yours reaction videos a lot. But please watch yourself in original you guys don't have to react it. But just watch it in Japanese by yourselves. I think it will be worth it❤
