I used to love Applebee's when they had their own unique identity with the movie props on the walls and all the autographed movie star photos and old classic movie posters-it was one of my favorite spots. But when they sold out and became a sports bar and became just like every other sports bar, i totally lost interest. They had a really unique stand out identity that gave them an edge-but they seriously lost that edge and became a clone of every other sports themed restaurant. Haven't been there in decades since the switch and probably never will go back.
I work at Applebees and yes we microwave some things like the queso but spinach dip is made in a broiler also pretty much everything comes in a bag other than any fruit/ certain veggies
@sunny 1019 Thank you for sharing that information about your experience working at Applebee's. It's not uncommon for restaurants, including chain restaurants, to use a combination of cooking methods, including microwaving, broiling, or utilizing pre-packaged ingredients. 😍 Microwaving certain items, like queso, can be a time-saving method in a fast-paced restaurant environment. On the other hand, utilizing a broiler for dishes like spinach dip allows for a different cooking technique that adds flavor and texture.
At the 1:49 mark, this is what’s microwave at Applebee’s. 1. Broccoli that prepared with salt and pepper and butter. 2. Mashed potatoes. 3. Garlic butter, green beans. 4. Parmesan cream cheese on top of the Parmesan shrimp steak 5. The diced chicken for quesadillas and the wonton tacos. It comes in frozen then seasoned then microwaved for 30 seconds or button number three. 6. All desserts. 7. When running intentionally shortstaffed all chicken and steak is put into what is called a “Save-A-Day and microwaved to finish up the cooking process. Although this isn’t a procedure through Applebee’s, but when you’re running, intentionally shortstaffed to make your labor cost any and everything will go including the steak that is well done that goes into the microwave or as we call it “the second Cook, which is called Mikey.” 8. All three of the soup choices. They used to be kept in a steam table and cooked on the stove, but not anymore. The French onion chicken tortilla and tomato. Basil soup is all portion to 8 ounces and is microwaved to wear. You’re not getting 8 ounces of soup anymore you’re getting about 5 ounces of soup once it reaches 200° in the microwave it boils over and spills out. And you dare add more to it or you will be written up. 9. Mexi Rice and cilantro rice is also microwaved for 45 seconds or button number four. 10. The last one that gets microwaved because of intentionally shortstaffed is anything that comes from the “Fry Side” The one fry cook that has a screen full of food will throw a bunch of items in the fryer because they can’t cook them to order because it’s impossible with one individual over there will throw a bunch of items into the fryer and then when it gets cold, they will use the second cook “called Mikey“ to heat it back up again. Most of this can be alleviated from the franchisees actually caring about their restaurants and staffing them correctly instead of giving them a blanket Labor percent that takes nothing into consideration. There are three stations at Applebee’s. Broil Side, Mid, and Fry Side. When it’s busy, it takes six cooks to run in effective kitchen at Applebee’s. Three sets of cooks on what we call “heat“ and three cooks on what we call “sets“ and sells the tickets or bump the tickets. When you have a franchise, that is worried about nothing else but the P&L you will cut those six cooks down to two. That’s when the shortcuts start happening and that’s when the food that’s already subpar becomes terrible. It’s not the individuals working in the restaurants fault it is their fault for throwing unrealistic labor cost onto the restaurant managers and the staff. So the next time you go to Applebee’s and get a meal and it’s terrible and you want to speak to the manager or the Cook just know it’s not their fault. They are in a position to do the impossible. When you’re complaining that the food is bad to the manager in the back of their head they’re thinking “yeah, no shit, I already know, there’s nothing I can do about it because you called me out to the table to tell me something I already know and now everybody else’s order is gonna come out slow because I’m actually the third Cook.” if you want to complain, complain to the home office and tell them that the manager and the cooks did everything that they’re being told to do by them “the home office“ because while this goes on by task approval, the home office automatically blame the cooks in store management and fire them for only doing what they’re told to do by the home office. The people that work in those restaurants are not to blame. But they see most of the blame and they’re the ones for the policies that Office tells them to do or task approval.
I have been to several different Applebee's in several different states over the past few years, and I've sadly concluded they are all terrible. I used to really like going to Applebee's, especially for fun times for the late night half off apps. The place was always fun and packed! The last 5 to 10 years has started to slide downhill and the pandemic solidified its shortcomings. Each place seems dated, the food quality is just not there... it's sad.
Yeah I delivered some Applebees products from Chicago to Michigan. A few packages were damaged. That’s when I found out that it’s precooked like microwave stuff in packages. I was totally surprised. I would have never known.
Sorry but the part about being easy to get a refund is totally wrong. (You cite the source a post from a former employee talking about "their store" so maybe it may apply to only ONE location and as a "former" employee, they wouldn't know what's changed since the time they were with them). It is in fact nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a refund from them even if you have a totally serious grievance. I have been severely ripped off by them on two separate occasions years apart (one where serious fraud was concerned with a server altering the amount of her tip that I had approved on my receipt) and in both cases after MULTIPLE attempts to reach them on both a local and national basis, I have NEVER recouped my losses - they either simply DON'T respond to complaints or they'll send an initial introductory email apologizing and promising to take some action that they ultimately don't. They have to be dragged kicking and screaming to do the right thing and still will most likely never ultimately will. Avoid Applebee's at all costs ESPECIALLY the Central/Camelback location in Phoenix Arizona.

@No Man I also sometimes look at the theme of a store and see if it has a good ambiance and is fresh inside when you eat😎

Super amazing video
@Mad Dog Thanks Really appreciated!!💜🥰
I used to work there as a dish washer and believe me if you saw what I was TOLD to do you would never go back!
I like Applebee's. I have only had a bad meal there once. Never get the ribs. Can't go wrong with the 2 for $22 menu items.

Applebees went way down hill in the last 10 yrs or so. I finally quit going there after that. I used to eat there pretty often.
@mrobertson188 it's hard to accept but it's true😌
Ive worked there the last 10 yrs😅
Applebee's was excellent 20 years ago.
@Big Bad John yes that's true. We used to go there all the time but now we rarely go because there are so many other delicious food stores.🥰😁
Awesome 😎
I have eaten at Applebee's on 2 occasions; a burger one time then pasta with shrimp; both times the food was delicious !
I can’t eat at Applebees anymore lmao, my stomach says no ma’am 😂
@ChickenQuesadilla18 what do you usually eat today? HAHAHAA LOL

If you tell me that I am not in fact, Eating Good in the Neighborhood...👀
P.S. This was literally interrupted by an Applebee's commercial, coincidence?
@Kris Frederick I think it is Coincidence!😂

@Darion Robinson Thanks bro Hope to see you On the next uploads Stay tune and also Keep safe!!!❤️
Super Crazy 😝
My waitress didn’t seem to give a 💩 about anything on this list, the food is pretty much the same at every Applebees you go to, airline food😂
I've been at Applebee's maybe five times in 2 years. Every time I go there something weird happens.
I remembered that they also did a commercial included top gun maverick
The oriental chx salad is probably the unhealthiest thing on the menu. The dressing is mostly chicken fat and sugar.
My family and I will never eat at applebees again because of what they did to a manager for informing the people
❤️❤️❤️ Babble Top
It’s not a neighborhood watering hole. It’s a soulless chain. And no one there knows your name, and couldn’t care less.
You are cool 😎
Just too Clarify to everyone watching this McDonald's does not sell salads they haven't sold any for years so far I work at a McDonald's in Missouri
That's a shame. Their salads were quite tasty.
LOVE MY APPLEBEE'S.. 🍎🐝.. 🍻
I remember this video
@CW 25productions What did you remember on this???😁

@@BabbleTop oh yes indeed! The best thing earth has to offer!

Applebee’s sucks, if I want to eat at a casual chain restaurant it’s going to be Chili’s 🌶 over Applebee’s every time.
@James Boswell From my experience, when you hungry and you need fast food everything taste delicious 😂🤣
Crapple-grease.
