Rei Todoroki joins the fight for the very first time in the series in My Hero Academia Chapter 388, and here’s what her quirk can do. We’ve seen that the Himura family in My Hero Academia is legendary for their ice quirks, with Geten from the Paranormal Liberation Arc being revealed to be a member of this powerful family, but from the main branch of the family we have Rei Todoroki, whose Ice Quirk is much stronger than it seems at first. Dabi’s flames are so powerful that it started melting Shoto and Endeavor who are both insanely fire resistant, yet even in Dabi’s massive Fire dome created from the power of his flames, Rei’s Ice Quirk is able to actually form and maintain its shape for a decent while, allowing her at full power to actually begin coating Dabi, Endeavor and herself in Ice to try and save her son, and even though Dabi who can literally melt Concrete is still too powerful for her to freeze, you can see how IF Rei had become a Hero and advanced her quirk to its highest point, how the Todoroki mom might actually be as fearsome as Endeavor, just with a different element, making us question how Dabi vs Shoto could've gone differently, and how the events of My Hero Academia Season 6 would have changed with her presence.

Dabi's body is literally a metaphor for his mental state: Unable to cry due burned shut tear glands. Unable to feel physical pain due to his severely damaged nervous system. He's kind of smiling all the time due to him losing a part of jawbone. Just pure numbness.
The only thing stronger than his flames is his willpower and desire.

Like I said before, Shoto really is living up to the whole “hero of the family” thing. Like, Endeavor was gonna let him kill himself, then everyone else did their best to cool Touya down to not much of an avail, and then Shoto comes in clutch. I’m still hoping that Touya can somehow pull through. Like, there’s some quirk out there to save a walking skeleton right..?

@@Geheimnis-c2e Impossible. The injuries he's sustained would turn anybody else to ashes, he's only alive because of his hatred/desire to be noticed. Eri wouldn't be able to get there in time to save him, the only logical ending for dabi is death. His ice quirk came in too late, just because he awakened his ice quirk doesn't mean that his injuries just straight up disappear.
@@Delmont_The_Delusional it could be something like with Terra from Teen Titans. Where he basically encapsulates himself in ice and dies. All while stopping the impending explosion and doing one final/only good deed.
The quirk to save Toya would be Overhaul and Rewind. Which is *Actually a good point*
That’s the only way some of these characters are getting back to peak health like Best Jeanist or Hawks (if he still had his quirk) etc etc
Overhaul didn’t have his quirk stolen as far as we’re aware and while I’m not for him being redeemed him being able to heal some of the supporting cast would definitely be an interesting usage of him
Now as for the other parts of your comment endeavor didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter tbh his quirk can’t negate the explosion unfortunately so his best choice was to minimize casualties letting Toya only Kill him, was very interesting in seeing Rei and the rest show up to weaken Dabi tho
@@invictus6176 Yeah. Honestly, Endeavor would’ve definitely had more of a choice had he confronted Touya sooner. And now that I think about it, he could’ve totally tried to knock Touya unconscious, thus turning off his quirk. I don’t know if that would’ve worked, but it’s way less of a rash decision. That being said, I’m just happy that it didn’t end that way.
I think Dabi's death is the most logical way to end his story. Come to think of it, the man just literally looks like Heatblast but with hair and a single arm. Even if they manage to "save" him, take him down, or whatever, an outcome in which he survives will be very unlikely. He'll still die cuz of his injuries, regardless of what happens in the next few chapters or so.

I suppose logically it makes sense. But I think narratively he kind of has to live. I would be completely fine if we got some quirk shenanigans that would lead to him living if it meant having this plotline end in a satisfying way.

@@mrjuanki23 assuming he doesn't die before eri gets to where they are. His injuries and SEVERE and he would most likely die before anybody else gets there, and if he did survive... He'd spend his life locked up in Tartarus. He's an irredeemable monster at this point, considering the amount of people he's killed.
Yeah, I can't see any other way than Dabi dying. Last chapter iirc his skull started fracturing from the intense heat. I think the only thing that Shouto can do (other than dealing with the explosive power using his own quirk) is convince Dabi to let his family live (and 'save' him that way).
Here's my prediction: Dabi loses the drive that made his grudge so powerful but the damage is done. Shoto manages to contain the damage to a person sized area, with Endeavor being badly hurt but still alive and Dabi crippled and disintegrating in Endeavors arms, apologizing to Dabi and closing the circle. The final page is Dabi smiling to Shoto and the family and crumbling into the wind.

@ChongChongkid Fair enough, although at the end of sister location we did see MIchael's body being piloted by the endoskeletons and resurrected after he spit em out. By then he's purple all over. Wonder where he currently is in the story.
I think both Dabi and Endeavor are going to die together but before they do I think it’d be cool if Endeavor has a kind of Rengoku moment where he tells his family some parting words and at the same time those parting words are what save Toya. But that’s just me. 😅

Technically he survives the story if you consider that he's not dead in 426 but after the 8 year timeskip I imagine he's been dead for a long time though unfortunately it never states anything, the last time Dabi/Touya is ever mentioned is 426

“Saved” as in he returns to being “Toya”. I don’t think Dabi can survive given all of his wounds and deteriorating body.

@@manricman32 that's not what he meant yeah he unlocked his ice quirk but all the injuries he withstand and his body being weak to his fire quirk which he used throughout the whole series without the will to keep going he'll burn out like a candle at its last use the hate being the wax the flame being dabi when he loses his hatred and motivation to keep going his flames are what ends him after all that usage that's what he tried to explain

Anyone thinking Dabi is gonna live, for the love of god that man looks like an infernal from fire force. His jaw is hanging on by a couple fucking atoms. His bones are exposed, and he looks like a god damn slim jim. This man is dead, there is literally no ass pull Horikoshi can make to keep him alive that doesn't piss everyone off.

My theory is that either Overhaul or Eri revives Dabi. I mean most villains like stain, la brava are all there. Overhaul is a major villain so I feel like Overhaul will come back. Either Eri gives him his quirk back or he finds a way to get his quirk back. Besides the Todoroki family are all burnt and Hawks lost his quirk. I believe Dabi can be saved and redeemed since he is the product of his parents bad parenting. His parents are now trying to fix their mistakes so i think Dabi can be saved. Right now they are in a middle of a war so anything is possible.

We may also have to consider that horikoshi is taking a break due to how dark this is. I know that if I was in the mangakas position and I went down a dark path with beloved characters long enough I'd need a break.

Dabi has crossed the line between being broken, and being a monster. He's irredeemable and would spend his life in prison if he was SOMEHOW saved, his injuries would turn nearly everybody else into ash if they had his injuries. The only thing keeping him alive is hatred/desire to be noticed. The only plausible end for dabi is death.

It’s kinda stupid to try and save him though, at least story progression wise. It’s the same issue shigaraki has, good villain redemptions require the villain to either have a solid motivation, or have any morally redeemable qualities.
Obviously i understand why in spite of that, his family would still try and save him, but story wise, Dabi has been written into a corner.
He has to die as much as I like dabi which is a lot he went from a moody side character to absolute broken menace but villains have to have their end or redemption but the blue flame going out and saving him from the pain he's suffered and lies he's been fed by afo makes the most sense to me
While I do like people being redeemed I see no way Dabi can at this point. Sometimes there are people you just have to put down.

I truly think that one of the most sad villain origin stories is due to child abuse. It just hurts my soul and manages to make it real and sad for me.
I think it'd be so cool if the Whole endeavor family ended up dying alongside Dabi (leaving one or two members would be fine). Not cuz I like death but it'd give so much impact on the story and truely portray how serious the entire war is. They almost did it with Bakugou but they fucking revived him??? I absolutely hate the coming back from the dead trope (this time literally) because it takes away from the tension and basically snatches the carpet from beneath you. "Oh? All that grief and trauma that you were experiencing with the characters? SIKE! IDIOT! HE'S A FUCKINNG ALIVE! LOOK AT YOU! LOOK AT HOW SAD YOU WERE FOR A MOMENT!" I think that if endeavour or todoroki(especially todoroki) were to die to dabi it would be such a gut punch and exactly the tragic one needed. Especially with the irony of neglecting your first son after he doesn't have two quirks and that first son killing your two quirked youngest child WITH the quirk you thought he didn't have.
Part of me wants to believe that Toya will survive. With the awakening of his ice quirk I think his body is going through a metamorphosis which will adapt to both his extremely strong fire quirk and his newly awakened ice quirk

It'll only be realistic if Dabi dies, I know the glorious power of plot armor exists but he literally is a walking corpse, the best thing that could be done is for him to be redeemed before his last breath, other than that, yeah no...
I mean, he is now a cooled down corpse who is only kept together by his own ice. He has no eyeballs or even anything inside a mouth, yet he somehow manages to say something. And all he says is that he wants the entire family to perish. With him as well. There is no redemption. He was simply defeated.
Dabi dying with his family, would be the best end to his history. It's cruel, but beautiful at the same time.
Dabi is an amazing character and I feel he deserves a better end than just to be used as a side character to develop an main character like Shoto. I guess I just want to see him have his happy ending. My Guess is that he will be saved seeing how the Dabi’s mind right now seems to have reverted to a state like it was when he was a kid and he might even loose the memories he had as Dabi which could give someone like him a new start.
This isn't black clover. His injuries are horrendous, and the only person that could possibly save him is eri, who's too far away to save him before he turns to ashes Infront of his family. (Since Endeavor is basically holding Toya, he is going to have to die with Toya. Since I'm not sure if the Todoroki's can generate enough ice to ONLY target Toya. It will take all the power from Shoto, Rei, Fuyumi and Natsuo to freeze him and I dont think they can do that without Endeavor being caught up in it to)

I think Dabi's story will end as his name intended... with his body turning to ashes. The soul may be saved, but the body has its limits.

I will say, so much is pointing to Toya dying at this point, that I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow survived against all odds. Tbh, I would love that. I also highly doubt Horikoshi would kill off all of the Todoroki family. That would be such a lame way to end that plotline. I will say, I'm still super happy that we didn't get that super contrived "Enji and Toya burn and die together" thing. While I'm not against Toya dying, I also feel like him living would be the most satisfying way for this plotline to end off.

We must make it clear, for being a villain and that they save him and that he survives a war.. It is to present your work very fairy tale, he is a villain, he did things just like shigaraki, there must be a divine punishment and that he die at peace, shaking off that emotion to the fans, having an exciting and sad death; to survive and happily ever after will be disappointing

@@adiritzkovitz244 I think dabi his fire is so hot it will instantly melt all ice and that means shoto will have to use only his fire which is much less powerful than dabi’s fire
