Awesome!! I'm planning to buy a Volvo 850 turbo too, but here in Brazil is very difficult to get these performance parts. But, it's my dream! I love wagons :) Keep going man!
Hey mate love your build but would love if you can link where you buy these parts from as I’m looking to build something close , otherwise great content @simplyvolvo
Wow nice work!! Question, is it enough to change the piston rod and bearing and use the stock piston? Is it possible to change it without taking the hole engine from the car? Thx
Hi, I love your videos and I was just wondering if you could give your opinion on a situation I have. I own a 2004 V70R M66 with 140k and all the cylinders have low compression (95,120,120,120,70). The motor has massive blow-by and I want to pull it out of the car as it keeps blowing oil all over itself. What would my options be here realistically? Besides sleeving the block with a set of Darton sleeves and building the bottom end. I guess what I'm asking is what you would do in this situation. Also would it be possible to build the bottom end like you did, but run the stock turbo and tune until I have the money to run a big turbo and supporting mods? Or should I swap the motor for a 2.3 or 2.4 from an s60? Thank you for your response, I couldn't think of a better person to ask this question to.
I would swap in a low mile B5244T5 from the 05-09 S60 T5. It has the 81mm cylinder walls (vs 83 you have that crack) but the larger 93.2 stroke crankshaft and dual VVT so it will be a very strong 2.4L. Should be fine for 400-450hp completely stock.
@@SimplyVolvo Would my current ecu be plug-and-play with a B5244T5 set up? I already have a flash tune from Hilton tuning, I imagine this tune would not work anymore, correct?
Just a hobby. I have a bachelors & masters in computer science and video game design and a minor degree in electrical computer engineering those are my profession (and also my other hobbies).
Have you done anything to the intake/exhaust ports? planning on running with a matchported tube manifold? These 850s do really go fast on the highways! Love em!!
@@SimplyVolvo Ive watched your progress, but not in a continous manner. =) Had one just like yours 15years ago, had stage 3 on it. The automatic gearbox did not like the torque... Now i have a S60 T5 with a geartronic gearbox. Love these cars!
My custom VolSquirt ECU (Megasquirt 3 Pro Plug N Play) that I sell through my business Hell Moose Performance LLC. I did a video on it some years ago. Hoping to start selling them again soon.
The Volvo oil pumps are good on many builds up to about 9500-10000 RPM, but for a rear wheel drive setup they struggle to keep a steady oil supply to the 4th and 5th rod bearings above even 8000 RPM.
That is going to be one Hella moose motor!! Love the vid!! God bless...
Great build man. I had a turbo 850 in high school and it was the best car ever

Amazing 👍
What was the Total Complete Cost?
So Jealous! stacking $ slowly but surely.Great Work Matt!
Can you provide a full parts list? I am going to be buying an XC70 with the 2.5 Liter turbo inline 5 and would like more performance.
Awesome stuff! Keep it up!
Oil squirrels are awesome. I found them on my m112 and was very happy. One day maybe I’ll sleeve it.
Can't wait to see it in the car!
What block is it? The 2.5?
Engine running already?
Are all the 850 turbo engines born with the oil jets, or do you have to make the holes to have that??👍🏻
turbo and 11:1 compression? that seems massivley high for a turbo build
What did you do regarding the crank? Is it a stock unit or what has been done to it

What motor and how are you planning to get that kinda power?
Yes yes volvo power!!!

Looking legit dude! This Volvo is going to rip.

What cost rebuilding this engine ?

Yes the head it fully ported. Max it can flow on stock size valves.

What is the benefit of running the higher compression vs. lower compression with more boost?
where do you go learn how to do this
what engine management are you using?

Badass man. Keep it up... so are you not using that Tarantula Manifold??
No im using the same LGSpeed manifold ive been using. Those are just a product I am selling in the US for a friend.
So cool man
what is the RPM limit with OEM oil pump?

They've been used to 10k rpm + no problems. You wont have issues because they use a spline drive.
